  1. It's more efficient because of the high bypass ratio. Higher bypass ratios are more fuel efficient. i.e. For the same fuel consumption a prop/unducted fan will make more thrust. The drawback of the turboprop is that it can't make the same overall thrust and speeds. The unducted turbofan helps resolve that delimma. BTW, here's a bit of info as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propfan
  2. BTW, in the hierarchy of the commercial jet engine world. GE is on top, followed by Rolls Royce, followed by Pratt. In the military world, it's Pratt (the last two decades anyway) followed by GE, followed by RR
  3. To be clear... EVERY high bypass engine (virtually all commercial jet engines get 90% of their thrust from the fan (what you're calling propellers). Very little of the thrust is from the turbine, that's just what makes the fan spin. And nearly every engine you see the compressor gets it's air from the same fan stage. It's military low bypass engines that get thrust from the turbine. Tomorrow I will post some more basic info and a cross section. I will also gladly explain why an unducted fan is more fuel efficient. (The actual biggest challenge is noise - keeping them quiet enough... The one you have above is much louder in the cabin than the normal engine you hear today. Blade out (when a fan blade breaks off) is actually relatively easy to manage, the bigger challenge there is actually the extreme unbalance it creates in the engine that is spinning

    Walking Dead

Alexandria is the community (clearly they will end up there at some point, its a major 'location' like the prison) the Saviors is a group of bad guys... in the comics the leader of them beats Glenn to death, and beats up rick, and another one of them kills Abraham...

    Walking Dead

Well, Sgt Abraham Ford has arrived! I wonder if that means Tyrese is dying soon? (in the comic book Abraham is Rick's right hand man after Tyrese dies). Then again, the baby died in the comic (but with lori, in the prison, being shot...) I also wonder since the Gov is dead, and they are out of the prison, and the Sgt is introduced, when/will The Saviors be coming soon? (near season finale, or start of next season?) Its hard to tell how much the same it will be, after they killed Andrea in the tv show it makes me wonder, lol.
  6. Just a joke. Yes, I know substantially more, but can't say more than what is already public domain, and it tough to say what is and isn't, so I just don't say anything. But yes, both of those programs are great future of flight technologies.
  7. saw that on FB last night... seriously made my heart rate jump up...
  8. dude is a beast behind the wheel is what really helps. multiple time national autox champion, holds track records at multiple tracks, including mid-ohio... He drives the wheels off for sure, lol. Which is why I am having him teach me, hahaha. Last year was pretty good for him. LS Fest Grand Champion, GoodGuys Autocrosser of the Year, I think 2nd or 3rd place finish at the Optima Ultimate Streetcar Challenge (that was in the Lingenfelter Camaro)...
  9. The Grand Champion's (Danny Popp) car (blue '72) is by all means a street car, a very very very fast street car. I plan on competing for it myself this year... doubt I'll win, but I will sure give it my best!
  10. This is why all of us should write/email our legislators and tell them how we feel.
  11. The first car they removed was the sole 1983 corvette.

    Trolls

god dammit! I got autobiography and biography backwards. I do however appreciate your intentionally condescending and sadistic tone to your response. Good day, sir.

winter olympics are always more boring.... If I happen to find downhill skiing on, i watch that. Same with the x-games type stuff, but I wont wait just to watch it...
  16. Here is how I monitor energy in my house: "Dammit Krystal! (my wife) Turn off the light when you leave the room!" -I can track where my wife has been through our whole house simply by the lights that are on, as she turns on lights as she goes into rooms, and doesnt turn them off when she leaves. "Dammit Krystal! I told you not to touch the thermostat!" -If it were up to the wife, it would be set at 67 or less in the summer and 75 or higher in the winter. (I flip that around, or close to... 69 in the winter, 74 in the summer)
  17. One of the resident engineers. I work at GE Aviation, in Advanced Products & Demonstrator Programs. Started out as a design engineer, my title these days is Technology Leader. Basically I am a combination of a program manager and a project manager. I manage the technology roadmaps (I.e. Maturation/development plan) for fuel and air system components (fuel pumps, fuel metering units, actuators, air valves, controls, servo valves, etc...). I also own and manage the fuel system design for certain next generation engines (military and commercial) and try to match new technologies with program needs. (The stuff I work on will go to the world in 2020-2030) I have my BSME and MSME (mechanical engineering) from the great University of Cincinnati, and plan to go back in the fall for my MBA at Xavier. I pretty much love my job. As a kid when most of my classmates had sports stars as idols, Thomas Edison was mine, I read and researched a lot about him. From the time I was about 8 years old I would say I wanted to be "an inventor" when asked what I wanted to be when I grow up. And now, funny enough, I work for the company he started... Purely by circumstance no less. Now, I'm on the business/corporate path, which I also enjoy. Ahead of my passion for R&D and engineering, I also enjoy leading people and developing teams to get things done, it's just kinda comfortable to me... My short biography concluded, the point is, think about what you love, what your good at and go after it. Never stop pursuing what makes you happy. When you have a job you enjoy, work can be... Enjoyable. . Or as I was told as a kid, find a job doing what you love and you'll never have to "work".
  18. I guess I grew up with my gun collecting dad who had guns he bought to shoot, and guns he bought specifically to collect an not to shoot.... To have to show for rarity and collect and hold/raise value.
  19. Didnt you just devalue the gun by like eleventy billion dollars?
  20. I have the Taurus PT-92. I love the gun. Shoots great, smooth light trigger, accurate.
  21. Top tire choices are BFG Rivals or Falken 615k
  22. Yes, you can run BFG Rivals. It is a 200TW tire so it meets rules. And imports can still run, just not compete for awards.
  23. I am officially registered! Come sign up! Some serious good competition already on the board!
