  1. Would you be willing to mail me a couple of white ones?

  3. I flew Skybus to Kansas City about a month or so ago. I was pleased with the service, and the flight was fine. The biggest thing was the price. I flew round trip to Kansas City and rented a car for 5 days for less than I could have flown one way on a major carrier on short notice. If you want to get anything to drink though, make sure you have cash. NOTHING on their flights is complimentary. It was $3.00 for a can of pop, and they won't let you carry any food or drink on the flight.
  4. I really don't need the third car, and if someone out there could use a reliable fun to drive car that is willing to put a little bit of work into it could, I'd like to see it go to someone that will rebuild it. If I haven't moved it by the end of the summer, I probably will keep it and fix it for a winter beater. The car would be great for a first car for someone's kid though. As far as what I put in that first post, that was referring to whether or not I would allow the insurance company to take the vehicle. I retained the car (bought it back) because the car is worth more to me than they were willing to give me for it. I sacrificed $150 salvage value to retain the car and the brand new suspension parts that I put on it.
  5. If you had posted this three days ago, I'd have been up there with cash in hand today! I bought a 93 on Wednesday. Good luck with the sale!
  6. Saw that car last week in the same area. I thought it looked ok, but then he nearly got high centered on a bump in the road, and it looked like his buddy riding with him lost a filling.
  7. Recieved my settlement offer today, will have the salvage title in hand by the end of the week. The car still runs and drives great and has been getting excellent gas mileage. Could probably put it back on the road after one trip to pick and pull! $1300/obo
  8. When you say that some areas aren't as smooth as you would like, do you mean the texture of the primer/paint, or that you have some areas that aren't straight? Polyester filler (bondo) really should go directly on the bare metal that has been hit with at least 120 grit paper, 80 grit would probably be better. As for your glazing putty, that can go on top of primer if necessary after you've sprayed and sanded your guide coat.
  9. Charging system is good on this one! Just needs a little help to be a real nice driver.
  10. Forgot to give the particulars: 1995 Ford Contour SE 24 valve DOHC 2.5 liter Duratec V-6 Automatic trans Pwr driver seat, windows, locks, mirrors, and sunroof Toreador Red / Gray cloth interior 152,000 miles water pump already replaced with upgraded impeller runs great, drives great, has been pulling down 26.5-27 mpg combined city/highway
  11. Car's totalled for sure. Got the word this afternoon. I'll be moving forward with securing the salvage title in the next couple of days. At this point I'm considering letting them take the car if they'll work with me on the value of my newly purchased and installed parts. The car runs and drives great, hate to let it go. I was on my way to probably my best fuel economy in the car ever when I hit that buck too.
  12. Interested... I've always liked those cars. Gonna be around this weekend? You replied with interest in my Contour, maybe we could work something out? Got pics? rseward1@progressive.com

  14. Last night on my way home from Springfield, I hit a deer with my Contour. Since I work for the insurance company that I am insured with, I'm reasonably certain that the car is now totalled. At this point, I've still not met with, or received a phone call from my handling rep, but I'm afraid this whole experience is not going to end well for my little car. If it does indeed total, I am going to retain the vehicle because less than two weeks ago, I replaced the front and rear struts, springs, and spring mounts, with aftermarket pieces from British American Transfer. The car has 152k miles on the 2.5 v6 and automatic trans, has good rubber at all 4 corners, and has a b.a.t. -25mm (-1 inch) lowering kit with european handling inspired sport valved struts all the way around. The suspension kit has less than 500 miles of wear. As for the damage to the vehicle, the hood took the brunt of it i think, because the thing is just crushed. The rt headlamp, rt and lt marker lamps are broken, and the headlamp mount panel is broken. The right fender is a little bent at the end, but it also has some minor paint damage at the back edge near the hood where the hood hit it and scratched the paint. My biggest concern at this point is that the rt side of the core support (upper tie bar, and rt side baffle) appear to be pushed back about an inch. There are some aftermarket parts out there, but to acheive any kind of proper fit, the best option would be to go junk yarding for them. The car still runs great, and has recently been getting better fuel economy than I've seen in a long time, at about 27 mpg combined city/highway. It really doesn't even look that bad, but I'm not going to mess with all of the inspections and such to get the rebuilt salvage title taken care of. If you've got a Contour, Mistique, or Cougar, the suspension kit and wheels will bolt right up from this car. I want to get out of the car WITH a salvage title, what I put into it in the last two weeks which is $1300. I have receipts for all of the suspension pieces, installation, and the exhaust resonator delete I had done at Midas a couple of weeks before that. I am available by phone at 513-562-7770 all the time, which is the best way to get a hold of me since I'm not on here as regularly as I was before moving out of Columbus. The car is in Morrow, about 85 miles South of Columbus, and 20 or so miles North of Cincinnati off of I-71. Clean NADA book value is about $2200, asking $1300. Pics will follow when I get them loaded on the computer.
  15. That's a shamefull way to lose an F-body. Possible though that the car wasn't really abandoned, but just waiting for somone to come with the equipment to remove the car from the guardrail. I can't imagine that the police would allow the car to stay there if it were a fatality.
  16. 88 accord, 4door, good interior, some rust, automatic with broken o/d. still runs great, and pulls 28-31 mpg. 263k miles though.$600.
  17. I made the jump from Columbus to Cinci myself last fall. It was a good move for me career wise, and we were able to move up as far as housing goes, but we did stay a little farther out. I'm in Morrow now, about 6 miles from K.I. If you're gonna start looking for housing, look in the Morrow and Goshen areas. Most of the housing you're likely to find is pretty new, and it is relatively inexpensive. Word of warning: Stay out of Cincinnati proper. Taxes are outrageous, and the school system sucks. If you go out to Warren, Butler, and Clermont counties, you'll get more bang for your buck, and the commute isn't too bad.
  18. I can't imagine driving that old 'burban without the turbo. It ran really good and pulled hard all the way up to 35 or 40, but after that, it was kind of a slug. I'm sure that the turbo technology has come a long way since '83 when the kit was new for my truck, but for my money, unless you're gonna be pulling and working that truck, I'd go for some kind of overdrive system before I turbo'd it.
  19. Congrats on a great looking truck! If you take care of it, it'll be the last one you'll need to buy. Not sure if you're aware, the 4.10 rear was the standard for your truck when equipped with the diesel. 4.56 was optional! I'd definately go the Gear Vendors route for overdrive, especially for the over/under drive gear splitting capabilities. As for the tailgate, there are plenty of aftermarket suppliers out there to choose from.
  20. Progressive doesn't do homeowners... I've been insured with them for about 3 years now, and have never had any problems. Of course, I'm biased.
  21. Found an '05 tC with 31k miles and 18 months left for a net pymt of $62.19/month. Anyone wanna road trip to Florida?
  22. My mom bought a 95 SL1 new in late 94, and my Sister still has it with her in MS. The car aside from having to replace multiple sets of brake pads early on has been virtually indestructible. If you're looking for a Saturn, though I would recommend the 5 spd over the auto. The sohc cars only made about 98 horsepower, and it really needs the manual tranny to feel like it has any acceleration at all.
