  1. The best deals I've seen on rings is always on used ones. Craigslist/eBay are good options with the proper paperwork. I helped a co-worker purchase one on eBay - paid $1,200 and the original price was close to $6,000. Whatever you pick - I'm sure she will love it. The ring is just a reminder...
  2. I've got the following transmission for sale: Used transmission from a 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol Si. The transmission was removed when the clutch was replaced (130k miles). Transmission works as it should (no grinds or issues). I had a spare rebuilt and installed it with the new clutch. This transmission will work in any D series Honda 1992-00. This transmission is 'dirty', but ready to be installed! Comes with the VSS. $160 obo http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/3444409493.html
  3. Lucky you. I work there as well and can tell you that my premiums went up quite a bit this year (2012 from 2011) and my out of pocket expenses were thousands more in 2012 than in 2011. Every one of my co-workers experienced the same thing from 2011 to 2012 with premiums and out of pocket expenses.
  4. I've been road racing a Honda Civic for 14 years (SCCA Showroom Stock and ITA). Your expenses are right in line with what I spend per double regional race weekend. I do have a tow vehicle and trailer and stay in a friend's motorhome or get a hotel room for the weekend. Some weekends are as cheap as $650 while others can be much more expensive. The Honda is an easy car to work on and maintain. Parts are everywhere and cheap! It is also the most reliable car (IMHO) that you can own/race. $20k can buy a very good race car, tow vehicle, trailer, safety equipment and plenty of spares. (And still have money left over to pay for a season or two of racing.) Getting on track is the first step. I've helped several friends get into W2W racing and am happy to discuss any specific questions anyone has about it.
  5. As a gun safe - no. As a gun cabinet - yes! So if you're looking for a fireproof, safe, secure place to store your guns - get a real gun safe. If you want a storage cabinet - that looks like a great option.
  6. No problem! Those older Civics have crazy value! I've got a 00 LX 4-door with 247k on it. I've been offered $3500 for it and have no interest in selling it. If it still runs and drives - you can list it on CL and probably get some good money for it (on top of that insurance check!). Good luck and have fun car shopping!!!!
  7. Does this one take the AAA batteries?
  8. Purchased a replacement race car and took it to Nelson this past weekend for the Quad Regional. Driver was VERY SLOW! The car will be a great base to tranfer parts from the 'original' #14. There should be some interesting pieces coming off this one (that pimp ass exhaust is awesome for a street car!). It is going to be an interesting winter getting the 'new' car built and ready for 2013. http://downingracing.com/forsale/pictures/new_14_Civic.jpg
  9. Don't rush to have it be a total loss... Take the $2195 check and keep the clean title Civic. Sell the Civic (with the damage) for whatever you can get for it (at least a few hundred or more on CL) and you will come out ahead. If they value your car at $2144, they will call it a total loss and pay you that amount minus the salvage value (which is probably $400-500 still for a Civic). So you would end up with $1744-ish if they total it. Good luck.

  11. I'm looking for a set of 15" 4x100 rims to mount some rain tires on. Max width is 7". They need to be straight and round. Ugly is fine - just need something to get these tires mounted on and use on the race car for rain tires. Let me know what you have.
  12. A car spinning like that in a right hand turn will tend to continue to the right with the spin. Momentum takes you that way. My move to the left was anticipating the car to stat where it was or keep spinning right. And at the speed I was going -to trying to go right would have spun me into him with my drivers door.
  13. Both fine (sore as hell, but fine). I didn't expect his car to spin there or to come back across the track like that. I got off the gas as soon as I saw him and moved to the left to avoid his spin. Didn't work out like I was hoping.
  14. At the 2x Regional at Mid-Ohio this past weekend - Rain for Q1. I put the Civic P1 in ITA and overall. At the start of the race, I got walked by Steve Sancricca (P2) in his CRX. He spun at t2 and I spun to avoid him (in front of the field). I joined DFL and figured I had time to work my way back towards the front. I made it to 10a. I believe the car is done. I'll start cutting the front end off this week and verify. I was thinking about getting a new car for 2013 and this may make that decision easier. This was my 14th year with this Civic. I've had this car since my daughter was 1 1/2 years old. It will be missed. http://www.danhardison.com/misc/downsize(7).jpg http://www.danhardison.com/misc/downsize(5).jpg http://www.downingracing.com/pictures/civic_crash.jpg
  15. I'm interested in this! I have a 1hr drive to the office every morning. If I can 'work' from the car during the drive - that would be great! I can still drive when I want (and I love to drive), but wouldn't need to all the time. And with how bad 1/2 of the drivers on the road are - this should be a good thing.
  16. Part of Student Loan = Part of the money borrowed for school? I'd have to say that is a bad idea. You will be deferring payment of the money borrowed (for the car) for some time and paying it back over a very long term. So long after this car is gone/dead - you will still be paying for it. And making the monthly payments for the money borrowed on the student loan is great. But if you can do that - you're better off to purchase a cheaper car (cash from tax return) and still put that extra money (car payment) towards the student loan debt. IMHO.
  17. This was a question I had as extra credit in a class in 7th grade!!! (which at this point was 27 years ago!!!)
  18. The buyer can go with you to the bank that holds the loan and they will take the payment (amount to pay off the note) and you will get the rest. The bank will release the title to the 'new' owner once the paperwork is complete. If that person is getting a loan, your bank will transfer the title to the new lender. Happens all the time - your bank should be able to tell you what needs to happen and what their process is. The easiest way is for you to just pay off the loan and have the title in-hand. For some people, this isn't an option. If it is - do it this way! No question when you have the title - person gives you cash (or meet at their bank and get cash - I don't do checks of any kind...) and you give them (the bank) the title. Easy.
  19. I applied with a buddy - both dropped our applications off the same day. Mine took 4 days. His took 4 weeks. Don't know what the difference was. We are both 'regular' guys with no criminal background at all (only 1 speeding ticket ever each...). Good luck!
  20. 1999 Buick Century Custom. Family owned since 30k miles. Currently has 119,000 miles. 3100 V6 with automatic transmission. Power windows, locks, mirrors. New tires, A/C works great, everything works - looks and runs very good. 2 sets of keys with key fobs. Edmunds clean private party value = $1,960, KBB good condition value = $2,567, NADA average trade-in value = $2225 CL price is $1950 - CR price is $1600. Full story - Reason for selling: leaking fluid and took it to a mechanic. They said it needed a gasket since it used to have that crappy GM fluid in the radiator. That gasket (timing something) had already been replaced... So no clue what was leaking. System was topped up and hasn't leaked since. He has driven it on and off over the past few weeks and no issues/leaking. This car was my brother's daily driver for the past few years and while it was being looked at, he purchased a new(er) SAAB to be his new DD. Didn't feel like messing with this anymore and now just wants it gone. Thanks. 21. Put me in line please. This would go well in the Solstice. Thanks! Matt
  22. How about $100?? I'll be home on Thursday evening if anyone is interested. It will be gone by the end of this weekend one way or another.
  23. You've got PM. Location is Pickerington. It is more 'big' than heavy. It is on wheels and is easy to move. 2 people can move it with no problem. Last time I moved it was in the back of a pickup - and it was easy. (as I remember...)
