  1. This is the video from Dan Hardison (ITB car). He spun on the 2nd (ish) lap and his Dad was coming thru turn one and lost it (kinda trying to avoid Dan, but I think he had lost it prior to that). Very close! Car ended up in the tirewall (hard) but since there is no guardrail behind the stacks, the damage was minimal. http://www.danhardison.com/misc/T1_spin.wmv
  2. I raced the double regional this weekend. Won on Saturday and won the trophy dash race Sunday morning. Was leading the afternoon race when the drivers side tire came de-laminated and trashed the front of the car. (Pic later). Here is the video - this does not do justice to the violent shaking going on during the event (and before which is why I was going slower than normal).
  3. I'm glad he had a great time! The weather was awesome and the lower turnout (we always seem to have) made the track very open and no real traffic issues. Everyone played nice and all seemed to leave happy. Even the Subaru driver was having a great day and was upset he didn't get to stay at the track for the day. We were close to a 1-1 instructor to student ratio. Hopefully next year we can make that happen!
  4. We were shaking down one of our ITA Civics to make sure we had a handling problem corrected. We did, but Butch pushed it into T1 and ended up hitting the tirewall outside T1 pretty hard. Pancaked the whole passenger side. Just cosmetic and he raced all weekend. One Subaru and one BMW left on rollbacks. I know the Subaru had a motor problem and heard the BMW had the same issue.
  5. This was a great event! Tons of track time and aside from one of our guys putting his race car into the tire wall and a few cars with motor issues - everyone had a good time! If you haven't done a track day, you don't know what you are missing.
  6. I got together with a few friends and built a Chump car (94 Civic dx). We took it to MIS this past weekend and ran Seven hour races on Saturday and Sunday. There were only 34 entries, but we managed to finish 8th on Saturday and 7th on Sunday. We learned a ton and are looking at what we need to do to the car to try and improve next time. Car came home without a scratch on it. This was our first Chump race weekend and we had a good time! Running Mid-Ohio this weekend with the ITA Civic. Not much action in this forum, but road racing is what I'm into and ill post pics and videos from the weekends in a week or so.
  7. The Ohio Valley Region SCCA is hosting a PDX at the Mid-Ohio sports car course on Friday the 30th (8/30/13). Registration is online at: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/B5F41A38-F869-ADD5-E9EA97F48016F606#.Ug-mncu9KSM Let me know if you have any questions. If you'd like to be an instructor - let me know your experience/history. Hope to see some of you at the track! This event is always a great time! Matt
  8. I was up at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend for the Cincy region IT-Fest. I ran my new (just built/rebuilt) Civic in ITA and had a blast! Ended up with Two 2nds and a Win. That was enough to take the overall ITA Champoinship. This is a quick Video clip from the rear facing go-pro. Saturday morning race start from P2 - I just wanted to lead the first lap and I did. Thanks to a little 'help' from my friend in the Nissan!
  9. Depending on what you want the gun for, there are many good choices. I like to carry a smith & Wesson bodyguard .380 in the summer. Winter time, I carry a glock 26 (9mm) or a glock 23 (40 cal). If I'm going shooting for fun, there are other choices I like better. Best idea I've heard so far is to go to a range and rent several to see what you like best! Good luck to you and your search.
  10. I 'love' my Solstice because every day driving a convertible is a good day! The car is fun to drive with the short wheelbase and large tires. Always enjoy being in that car! Not the best car I've ever owned, but it will do just fine for now.
  11. Went with my daughter last night. $5/ea to get in (I'm ok with that). Bigger rides than last year, but not nearly as many. Same for games and food. We were there about 20 minuts and left. I live close enough to hear the music - and I agree the lineup was good this year. If it doesn't get better next year (more rides/games/food), we will just stay home and enjoy the tunes on the deck.
  12. When my kids were little, we went to cedar point often and they had a blast. Plenty of places to stay close (or even in the park) which makes naps easy. Come and go as you please and tons for little kids to do. Close to home and cheap(ish). With that 4 day timeframe, close to home leaves more time for 'vacation' and less travel time.
  13. Another batch of stuff to clean out. Prices are all obo - if you have a red delsol, I've got tons of body parts for you. For a 93-95 DelSol: Doors (both) with outside handle and mirrors (good condition) $50 Targa Top complete with handles/latches (great condition) $40 Door panels (both in good/fair condition) $20/pair For a 92-95 Civic: Complete rear assembly for drum brake car (came from good donor) $30/pair Pics can be seen here: http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/3963583666.html

  19. I've got a 2001 Civic LX automatic for sale. 199k miles. Runs and drives great. A/C works, but isn't super cold. Car has good tires and looks good! Needs a radio (has aftermarket in it with no face...). Pass side front window isn't working (stuck up). Needs a hubcap (see pic). Has a small oil leak at the plug for the distributor hole (not bad). Asking $3300obo (CL asking price) - Would like to get this one gone. Going on CL in a week or so for more. http://i43.tinypic.com/2jcg205.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/2mx1r1s.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/jr8lfa.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/2ho93sh.jpg
