No, it does not for valve covers. They are straight foreward to do, if you want to tackle them and are unsure. Plenty of air cooled VW guys on here besides the ones that have already posted. Patterson has had them for years as well. I work over at The Northend Wrench and we see them frequently. Not so much this time of year usually, but big time in the spring. Dave the owner has a original '62 with 30K miles, and Mark our service writer has his fathers '61. Motorkars (spelling?) works on them as well.

Need an ID, and the "title" for the new car be it the title or a memorandum. You do not need the registration for the last car the tags were on as they are on file, but it never hurts to have. And yeah it's like $5 or less.

Agreed it does sound as if it does catch. Just verify to be sure, start simple/with basics.

What will filling the tank do? We are not even sure at this point that it is turning over? This is what it SHOULD sound like....

When cranking have someone look under the right rear of the car at the crankshaft pulley and make sure it is turning. IF it is NOT, then put it in like 3rd gear and rock the car back and forth to get the flywheel to change location and try again. IF the crankshaft pulley IS turning then it sounds like it has a broken timing belt. Fear not, it is non-interference. Take a 10MM and pull back the top timing cover and see if the belt is off the cam. It does NOT sound like a fuel issue, the cranking does not sound right, it is too fast.

Find another one to drive to compare? That would be a pressure plate issue or hydraulic issue if there is an issue.

Watching for ya. Don't give up on it. Had a customer who had his trailer recovered well over a year after he had replaced it. He needed one for his spec 944 asap, but they did get the other one back, still in state.

Or it could be a desperation gotta make 2K wheel on the dyno, but it will be a glory pass, and not what it will be running on the street through 2 wheels. Graph will be interesting for sure. I mean even if it makes 2K on the rollers, how long will it be in the power band? If not for long, then a car with much less power could very easily out run it still. Especially if AWD and capable of putting the power down.
