  1. So as seen in another thread, several of us here have kids with their their temps and are in the hunt for a good first vehicle for them. In one of those threads mention of this gem popped up and while I wasn't in the market for a Jeep, this one proved too good to be true. Add in the price was outstanding so I jumped on it. These things are selling for crazy prices with 135-200k on the ODO. This one has a mere 85k on her. Super low miles for the last year of the Jeep XJ, 2001. Say hello to "Old Blue" as his former owner affectionately referred to him as. Great lady and one who truly took amazing care of her vehicle. This beauty will undergo a great detail but honestly, inside, the car is like brand new. If NEW is a 10 this one is a 7.5 to 8 as-is. Her main passenger was her elderly mom and she kept is as long as she did because her wheel chair fit in the back much easier than in the RDX she had eyed up and eventually bought. Even the underside is like new. She admitted to taking it in snow but not very often. She works from home and just plain didn't venture out much and when she did she drove her previous Acura, an AWD TL. Overall plans are to keep her nearly stock. No real "Jeep" oriented mods. First updates will be: Full in/out detail and ceramic coating of course! Tires. These measure at 6/32nds and it needs some quality rubber before I put my son in it. Tint. Easy enough to do and remove if needed. Looking at 35% on the rears and 50% on the sides. I know some will disagree but I want him to be able to see out of the back at night. Stereo. I'll keep the stock one but a decent set of speakers and a blue tooth head unit with android auto, etc. will be on the list for sure. He's going to want to have some tunes and like it or not, I don't want him holding a phone and we all know at some point they are out of our control... Mechanically she's very sound and has had all the major stuff done. I'm going to check out the steering box and see if an adjustment will shore it up and go from there. Lastly, I need to get a spare key fob. It's old enough that I'm sure a generic one may work but I have to read up on what's needed here and perhaps how they are programed. Stay tuned for more later but in the mean time many thanks to Sean aka Crossle from North End Wrench!! http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168757863/original.jpg
  2. Good thoughts, but I'd rather leave it as an unmolested stock vehicle for now. If he really likes it and wants to keep it beyond high school then it could be an option if he so chooses. If he decides he wants something else, It will remain a super clean low mile unit that will surely be a well sought after vehicle (especially stock) for another enthusiast do with as they please vs inheriting someone else's work. I mean it's 18yrs old with 85k on the ODO now. Think about it at 20-21 yrs old.....still in stock form, super clean and likely less than 95k on the ODO. It will still be a HUGE find for someone. LOL at the service records too. This lady saved everything and did everything it needed and then some. All the major trouble points, which are few, she already had done.
  3. find me one in central Ohio in the condition this one is in with a manual for the price I just paid please....ain't gonna happen. Thankfully this one is in great running order and he's not going to be off road with it. If he was going to do anything like that I'd buy a POS one for him to do it in not this one. He'll learn.
  4. I 100% agree and that's why Old-Blue is going to be in my driveway this morning and then off for new rubber in the morning tomorrow. I struck a deal with the owner and it is going to be undergoing stage 1 of a refined detail (it's really super super clean though) this weekend in prep for being my son's first vehicle. He never though of himself as a "Jeep" guy but this one is pretty rare. I'll be enjoying it quite a bit myself though. Stay tuned....
  5. email or text me if you would. I'm looking to pick up something for my son too. It's at the higher end of the price range but sounds worth looking at. pdqgp@yahoo.com or call/text me. 614-795-4907
  6. Save that for the sammich...use plain Mineral Oil. It's what I tend to use for removing wax/polishes/compounds if and where needed. Just make sure you clean/prep the surface accordingly if you plan to use a coating on it.
  7. Someone send this thread so far to Subaru so they can have a clue...... Agree with every single statement made. They lost me at $60-65k+ whatever stupidity dealers add on for this thing. It's worth about $35k IMO.
  8. Looks good. Harder to tell from the pics the original and after conditions but I might suggest the following. These are products I use and love. Since you have the cleaning part done and I'm assuming you have all the embedded and likely dried wax off. If not there are plenty of OTC Products, McKee's Wax Remover is one that is great for was that's been baked in over the years. Based on what I see in your pics, Q2 Trim is all you'll need. That said, the best stuff I've used is to simply coat it. GYEON's Q2 Trim is excellent. It's my go-to coating that will leave the trim like brand new and it will stay that way for nearly a full year depending on how you care for it. I'll have my own personal observations and testing on life expectancy in spring as my wife's vehicle will be through a full four seasons of use by then. If the trim for some reason doesn't respond to darkening up with Trim, then look at Solution Finish. It's a dye that will permeate and refinish the plastics with ease. Wipe on, let sit, wipe off. it will seal it up but I still recommend Q2 Trim but you need to wait about 30 days to apply it as the sealant in SF will need to wear down or the coating won't adhere properly. Lastly, if needed, bring it to me
  9. Hands-Down, The Cleary Company. Have used them and was more than pleased. Not just about the work but the service and people. 110% rating and we did a very extensive project remodel. https://www.clearycompany.com/ Ask for Robert Raskin when you call and feel free to mention my name so he can reference the project.
  10. I put a nice review up under google for the location serving the area.
  11. As much as they can be a PIA for me on the road during nice weather, they sure come through when it counts. Wife was stuck on the side of 70E/270 heading to Z.Ville when she and about a dozen others dropped into a huge pothole blowing out tires everywhere. Sucks that this shit happens but it's just a car and wheel and roadside/Lincoln were good. Better than them however were the two Ohio State Troopers changing everyone on the road like a pit crew. Based on the text updates from my wife they changed 6 tires in record time including hers. She's now on her way to safety which gives me peace of mind given I wasn't in the area to help her. Doesn't mean I won't cuss when I take a lump from one of them clocking me on the road next time but it does mean that my Thank You at the end will be well earned on their part. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.....
  12. Thanks Clay. On this particular job I didn't get any before shots as the weather wasn't cooperative and the indoor shots were meh at best. I just won't likely be setting up any lighting gear to make the shoots count as I'm focused on getting the job completely and delivered more than pics. That said, on this one the change wouldn't have captured well via camera. it's more of an in-person given the car has such low mileage and wasn't so much in the way of scratched or swirled as it was just cruddy dirty with contaminants. Before pics of what would be an extremely dirty looking car just aren't as dramatic as one that needs more correction. Great feedback though and an effort I'll put forth.
  13. 4 to 6" here in Dublin depending on how the wind stacked it up. Enough to make it look like winter finally.
  14. 4-5" my guess in Dublin. I am good with anything that makes the ground white and isn't just shitty gray sky rain. Sent from my Galaxy Note 8 using Tapatalk
  15. Nothing that exciting here. Just took the wife's out to see how it handles in snow and as expected, perfectly fine for a soccer mom car. My son is nervous and doesn't want to go our to "learn" yet. He's only been in a parking lot twice but is about to get his own car so we'll learn in that. Hopefully dad doesn't wreck it first
  16. Really only used LinkedIn. I'm old and have zero interest in social media gossip. I see the value in FB in terms of exposure to others with marketing and picking up ideas and seeing impact on various things. For example a FB Page on a product or vehicle that has users contributing information, etc. My wife uses it to communicate with her friends and family; I just call or text.
  17. Jordan is stand up for sure. I can vouch he will work for you and get you what you're looking for. Auto Assets is just up the street from me. Heard lots of good about Eddie. I just can't stand Chip the owner.
  18. Can't tell if your serious. Mainly because I saw our Chinese Neighbors mowing the other day and was like WTF!

Joe, check your wifi strength and details around that. I know the delays you speak of with Ring but once I strengthened the wifi at the door it's been fine. Occasionally I'll get a delay in the motion but the difference is maybe 5ft of travel by that person coming up my drive. We have one of each, the newest and previous gen higher end ones and the newer one does prevent more false motion alarms from the flag on our porch than the old one. I re-purposed the old one to the back door where it mainly serves as a motion capturing video camera. Network wise, I went with the Linksys Mesh network. Have had it for 1.5yrs and love it. Super strong full speed even on the patio, in garage or driveway too.

ADT who bought Brinks has covered us for 15yrs+ Excellent service and yes, I have some cameras through them. Very stable and reliable. It's all wireless including the connection to their center which runs off their own cell transmitter. Cameras are wired and work off wifi. If power fails the only thing I lose is visuals. All the other transmitters (motion, windows, doors, glass break) all work as they are lithium powered. I have all three because I built onto what we had over time. All very seemless so really not many moving parts. For CO2 and Smoke, I a combo of AC powered and battery powered Nest units in every room including the garage. They are well worth the money too. Power wise, it's not much of an issue for us as I had a natural gas generated that powers the entire house instantly installed once we did our whole home remodel. Wasn't cheap but well worth it when/if the power goes out. Or it will be. Also adds some value to the home down the road.

Love our Ring systems. Have multiple including the doorbell and some lights. Wire them in for power or use solar and thank me later. Teamed with some ADT cameras, the outside motion is captured nicely in HD and not only captures video but stills too. I've teamed these up with some Blink cameras inside and have been more than pleased. The only add I would have outside is to make sure you have good lighting. It's not mandatory as they all do well but good lighting helps even more.
  22. So a referral from CR called to have his new to him 2017 Ford Focus ST Cleaned up and coated. The car wasn't bad but it was loaded with contaminants that needed removed and the paint, well, clearly it was in need of a nice polish and I knew from having worked on a number of Fords, the paint would respond really well. In the process we decided upon CarPro Cquartz UK 3.0 for the paint and GYEON's Q2 RIM for the wheels. I'll let the pics tell the story of how nicely it turned out. Overall 100% perfection and flawless paint and trim. Metallic really pops out now and the reflectivity and clarity is outstanding for an entry level vehicle from a Domestic I think. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168659002/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658985/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658984/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658989/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658993/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658987/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658994/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658986/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658990/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658991/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658992/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/168658988/original.jpg

    Furnace info

We had a Bryant System that lasted 28 years+ and only replaced it due to efficiency reasons and that the AC was struggling. Put in a new full HVAC Bryant and outside one simple TSB it's been awesome.
