Sometimes you have to be creative in crafting that tender, a romantic mood. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/office/fcgif_zpsx3sbcqoo.gif

You can be comfortable at a lower temp if you humidify the air. The humidifier is an additional expense (plus some have filters/wicks which need regular replacement), but a medium sized unit should do the whole apartment easily.

I have a pile of medium sized boxes at the Hangout and you're welcome to any or all of them.

Yep, if there are four or more with confirmed interest in the Hangout, it will open at 9:00 p.m. tonight. The front half with be toasty warm, but no promises about the temps in the garage. -
PPC does sell them for people who wish to do their own installation. I was also saying that the staff there are a great source of advice on what to buy, whether you choose to have them install it or not.

Hooked on phonics doesn't even work well for English words, let alone French ones. But you're not alone, Paul. We've had members posting the word as viola.

I've heard Mad Hatter does good work.

With only 3 interested for tonight, we'll be dark. The Holidays take their toll. Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts!

Thanks for checking, Chad. -
About what time will the food be ready?
-
Only 2-3 confirmed? I guess the Hangout will be dark tonight. We'll see how next weekend shapes up. Carpe diem !

Not taken by me, but here are shots by Aesthetic Influx (Mike) of my car. He did a great job, as always. He's truly an artist. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-27_zps4997fd88.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-11_zps646128d9.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-1_zps6f0e5bf0.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-36_zps98a59e6b.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-35_zpsa989f950.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GT86/GT86-34_zpsc3716549.jpg

If there are four or more CR members wanting it open, I'll do it.

See you at Cars & Coffee, Rich.
-
Not sure if you're interested in cash, Rich, but I'd give $40 for the Amazon gift card.
-
What I need is the non-deluxe seat (without side arm rests). The seat cover condition is not important, as I have new covers. Any leads would be appreciated. New seats are $600, so the price needs to be considerably lower than that.

I'm not sure I'd say it's a "large part of their culture," but I think it's safe to say that both etiquette and paper crafts (think origami) are more important elements of the Japanese tradition than they are of western tradition. This just scratches the surface: http://www.giftypedia.com/Japanese_Gift_Wrapping http://www.1worldglobalgifts.com/japangiftgivingetiquette.htm

Thanks to all who attended. I didn't get a count at Quaker, but there were around 20 guests at the Hangout. (Sorry for the low-res photos--I keep forgetting to change my processing settings.) Of course, central Ohio's kewlest people were there: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/fouratfridge_zps5dc98f3d.jpg Tina did a fantastic job on the coffee, beverages, and many goodies (a whole table full of homemade treats!) I needed an insulin shot after the Reese's Peanut Butter fudge, but it was worth it. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/refreshments_zpsb8cd775c.jpg There was non-stop video gaming, with Sean here getting some Forza pointers from Kendall: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/SeanvsKendall_zps247ef2ab.jpg Grand car projects discussed and dissected by the CR gurus (Chandler and Nick): http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/NickandChandler_zpsd2f0df11.jpg We were honored to have Rutledge Wood from Top Gear America come by for part of the evening. Grant (far right) spoke with Rutledge as Jones and Adam googled for an image of him to make sure he wasn't an imposter. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/Granttalkingtoeman_zpsadc7a017.jpg Rutledge showing more than a little weariness from his whirlwind schedule: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/RutledgeWoodTopGear_zps0b647a3c.jpg The evening's entertainment was provided by a car cover, which caused terrible unrest in guests who couldn't guess the car underneath (DeLorean? Noble? WRX?). Just a temporary storage, but heaven forbid any inch of the Hangout be off limits. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2014%20CR%20Holiday%20party%20at%20Hangout/mysterycar_zps464ff7a5.jpg Thanks to the CR planners who organized the Holiday party and especially to Tina who baked cookies, treats, fudge, brownies, cake and provided all the libations for the evening. I wish you all Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year!

I couldn't wrap presents. When I tried, they looked like a first grader had done it. I would con someone into wrapping for me. This last summer I attended a wedding and needed presents for two Japanese guests. I decided I would learn what is actually a very intricate art for the Japanese, and it's full of etiquette regarding number of strands, color of paper, how and when the gift should be presented, and the like. I learned from a DVD, bought authentic paper and materials on the internet, and really had a great time wrapping the two gifts. The guests' delight on seeing the gifts was worth all the effort. They carefully unwrapped their gifts (no tape is used), showed people their gifts, and carefully re-wrapped the gifts, to be opened again when they return home. High quality Japanese paper is unlike any handmade paper I'd ever seen here in the U.S. I probably won't do that again unless it's for someone who really appreciates it, such as someone from a similar culture where it's important to them.

TTT This is tonight! http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/party0024.gif If anyone wants to come to the Hangout but can't attend the dinner, that's fine. As Tina mentioned the Hangout is at 320 London Road in Delaware, in the Howald Industrial Park. We are at the front of the first building to your left as you come down the drive. It is the only place that will have Christmas lights on. The Hangout will open at 9:00. I imagine the QSL revelers will begin to arrive around 9:30 p.m. There are many good routes to use from Columbus to the Hangout (e.g., I-71 north, SR315 north along the Olentangy, SR257 north along the Scioto), but a simple way from Polaris tonight would be this: travel west on Polaris Parkway. It becomes Powell Road at US23, but continue to the village of Powell (watch your speed there). In the center of town, turn right on Liberty Road. Go until it dead ends on London Road. Turn left on London Road, travel 100 ft, turn right into Howald Industrial Park. The whole trip is just 3 turns! I look forward to seeing everyone tonight.
-
Okey dokey. Let's say 9:30 to open. If things aren't rolling by 10:30 or so, we'll have an early close. See you there!
-
Just Grant, Wes, and the Cordells? I'll still open the place if you want. What time suits you?
-
This will be our last night to open before the Holiday dinner after-party on Dec 20th. 320 London Road Suite 101, in Building 100 Delaware, Ohio As you enter the Howald Industrial Park, we're in the first building, where the Christmas lights are. Hope to see you tonight!
