  1. I just noticed this on woot. Don't know if it's a good deal or not, but thought someone might be in the market for something like this. http://sport.woot.com/?ref=ref=gh_sp_5 If the link doesn't work, just go to woot.com and choose the Sport tab.
  2. Getting closer. Have a fresh new chassis cert down to 7.50 and the new belts are installed.
  3. If I was a Ford guy and looking to drop 50k this would be my choice. http://www.racingjunk.com/Ford/182165967/1990-Ford-Mustang.html
  4. Don't worry, you're not the only LT1 guy around. There are still a few of us left. What is done to yours? We want to see what's under the hood.
  5. When you say you have no pressure, where are you checking? Do you mean no pressure at the house faucets? Or are you checking for pressure in the system? Do you have a pressure gauge at the pressure tank?
  6. Start with the well pump and work your way down the line. Pump getting power? Pump in the water? Breaker not tripped? Pressure switch is turning the pump on?
  7. I've had issues with my well and the sulfur smell. I read somewhere a while back about a bacteria that consumes Iron (I have a ton in my well) and produces a sulfur smell. Ours was bad until we treated the well, then the smell went away. Couple of observations I have. First, make sure you don't have electrical tape securing your wiring. I know this is obvious, but if you don't know who installed it or how it might be worth taking a look. I had some wiring that was twisted together and taped. We shocked the well with bleach, and it dissolved the tape enough that the pump wire would short on the well casing and pop the breaker. I removed the extra wiring, and wire nutted the remaining wire then taped them. I have not had a problem since. One summer I had dropped my pump to the bottom of the well to pump out extra iron and sludge. Before I put everything back together for normal operation I dropped a couple of 3" pool chlorine tablets, then put the pump back down the well. I could detect a slight chlorine smell for the next couple months, but no more than you would with city water. I've thought about doing it again. Shocking the well is no big deal. My well sucks, but I treat it once every year or two and it works out okay.
  8. Leak down test makes sense to me. Cheaper than pulling the head. Any change you've noticed with the mileage?
  9. Welcome to the site. What are your plans for the Mustang? We'd love to see some pictures of your projects. If you need help posting some up take a look at this. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1743
  10. I'm with Andy, put it up on blocks and put the wheels and tires in your garage. I think next best might be to boot one of the wheels. Make sure they can't just unbolt the wheel with the boot and swap on your spare.
  11. This doesn't relate exactly, but I was on a tour of the National Air force museum in Dayton and saw many things that blew my mind. One of those things was a piston driven jet engine that I believe was based on an inline 4-cylinder Honda block. It had a custom cylinder head with long straight exhaust pipes coming off. If I remember correctly the cam was changed out to open the exhaust valve on the up stroke of the engine to pressurize the fuel air mixture which was then detonated as it exited into the exhaust pipe creating the forward thrust. Considering I was looking all around at aircraft that were at one time top secret, I'm a little embarrassed I was that interested in this. The engine was mounted in an airframe that looked like a Long-EZ kit plane. There were 4 pipes running toward the tail from behind the cockpit. These pictures are lousy, but they might have enough detail to show what I mean. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=590&pictureid=7495 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=590&pictureid=7496
  12. Good, I'm glad the guys who very obviously won't fall into a street car class won't get left out. We paid for a track day too. I'm not planning on competing, at least not right away. I've got a lot of learning to do. I'm just looking to make passes and get as much seat time as I can handle.
  13. Can we have a "Fuck you, it's not a street car, it's a race car." class?
  14. Very simple and very complex in the same moment. Only a handful of steps to perform, but in a VERY specific order at VERY specific times with the consequences of failure being extremely high. Nothing like a little stress to make you screw up a simple list of steps.
  15. I'm in for the 18th. Good Friday, no school! Works for me. Looking forward to this.
  16. Can't wait. I'm going to need some seat time and practice in the new car.
  17. My solution was to go both ways, but with two cars. I love having a 6-speed on the street, but at the track it was costing me time. My thought is to do the 6-speed swap, and find a cheap rolling chassis for a track car. Baring that, do the 6-speed swap and enjoy driving your car on the street more than you do now. Race it at the track if you want. I've seen older rolling chassis racecars for not much more than I spent on my Moser 9" for my Camaro. Turbo LS Dragster?
  18. Just curious, does the CR discount extend to spouses? I have my CCW, but my wife would like to get a CCW as well.
