I've recently been throwing around the idea of getting my carry permit, so I've been spitballing ideas of what to get for a carry, I read multiple threads on here as well as other sites and many hours of YouTube videos, I ended up going into Cabelas tonight to just snoop around. Grabbed a number and that was that.
I'd been looking at Glocks, I liked the reliability and the requirements that organizations put them up against that they passed, and I'd also been recommended to Walther by a few people. I've shot multiple Glocks, and liked how they felt in my hand, I'm a bigger guy so naturally a larger gun both physically and weight wise felt great to me, where some would hate it.
I was pretty much dead set on a Gen 3 G19 in the used market, but Armslist was turning up a bunch of people not very motivated to sell as well as some other sites, and I was tired of the games. At Cabela's I took a good hour looking over their handguns in the caliber I was considering that were in my price range within the brands I had been recommended. Luckily for me they had a Gen 3 G19 in stock, and a Walther PPX M1 9mm as well, I asked to see both and already knew what to expect from the Glock feel wise, but I've only shot one Walther so I had no idea what to expect. Both felt great, but the Glock felt a little heavier on the barrel (I guess the is the right term?) which I never really liked, while the Walther felt amazing. I've got pretty big hands so the funky grip on the Walther works good for me. Anyways, sorry for the long story, here are a few pics. Sorry they are huge. My iPhone likes to take big pictures, but judging by a few other posts the Gun Crew likes big pictures so I'll leave em.
