I read about that too. The new rechargeable in the HD lasted over 4 hours the first time I tested it. The new LCD with battery pack should add to that. They said it's also going to come with a new case back so you can still have a water proof housing.

There is a ton of great online resources and books out there. Running around with someone for a day isn't going to be anywhere near good enough. Some of the classes taught through places like Cord are a great way to get started understand your camera and the basics of exposure.

Sticking with the big 2 manufacturers you would limited to the Nikon D3000 and the Canon XS. For $150-200 more you can move to a D5000 or XSi.

I'm lazy and didn't read the article, but is EVERYTHING included in the component cost? R&D, updates, marketing, coding.... Not just the actual hardware bits.

There's better places, but Ohio isn't that bad. Dayton isn't even that bad, especially when compared to places like Cinci and Coshocton. Seriously Cinci is a shit hole and I refuse to take work down there any more. Coshocton? Those boys are just a tad too weird up there, if you know what I mean. I did enjoy the 9 months I worked in Columbus. and Southern Ca != the west coast. Northern CA and the Oregon coast are amazing. I've lived in Florida, Cali, Idaho, Texas, Oregon and here. I've traveled all over on top of that. I'd love a vacation home in Florida, but I'd choose large parts of Northern CA and the Oregon coast to live.
