Try riding a sport touring/standard that insurance classifies as a supersport...a z1000 would run me about $350/6mo. My bike which is a z1000 runs me $900/6mo...all because kawasaki put ninja on the bike. Oh and my insurance coming from Ohio to Nashville doubled.

I don't even want to admit what I'm paying for insurance down here in Nashville on a Mazda 3, ninja 1000, and zx6r...state farm is my best option and it still sucks.

Well that could be an issue. The throttle lock he has been working on attaches direct to the throttle tube. I'd have to see a pic of the heated grips to determine if it could work, but there is a chance it could. There could be one major issue, the outside end of the grip has to be trimmed about .375"

I may have a solution for that. Lemme talk to my father. I'll see how that's coming along.

So who gets the tip?

Sounds like you want a 14. I don't see where you need help with this decision, unless you're just the type that can't make decisions on their own. There should be a smiley somewhere in this post to make it sound a bit less serious too, but I dunno how to add smileys with the mobile version.

I've had my seat reworked by great day to ride also. Huge improvement over stock. Its still not custom seat level, but for less than $100 its well worth the cost.

I've been using one from roadgear, it is digital with a 90 degree turn. I've been quite pleased with it so far

Lots And Lots Of Changes Made. Lots More Coming.

I'm on mobile and can't figure out how to go back to the first page to see if this is on the list.... Is it possible to be able to select a page on mobile instead of just clicking the next or back button? On a large thread it takes forever to click next over and over to get to the last page. -
Dumb-ass Attack While Performing Maintenance?

Cut one too many links out of a brand new chain once...it got two rivet type masterlinks. Working on a customers KTM, didn't put oil cap back on before starting. That's all that comes to mind right now... -

C14 is a capable bike. My dad rides one and its no slouch. I've got a ninja 1000 and at a spirited pace he has no problems running with me. He also did a 9000 mile ride on it last year, quite comfortably. From the posts I've read from you, I think you'd really enjoy it. As for Brandt, that's tough. I'm not sure I could give up the power/comfort of the fz1. You've got a great bike. I know the speed issue and all...stroms are ok in my experience, but nothing I've ever gotten very excited about.

I ride the trace every couple weeks. I only really enjoy the first 50 or so miles then jump off at the Liepers Fork exit. I would really like to do that trip you mention. It would be a blast. I really enjoy the trace, but I think its not a more popular road because of the speed limits and the road does straighten out somewhat after the northern 50 or so miles. If I recall you're on a cruiser, that road seems very well suited for that type of bike. Glad you enjoyed it!

That's a lie, you checked your mirrors as you exited every corner. As soon as you saw me move out to pass, you dropped a gear, moved over the centerline and cracked the throttle. The bike that was riding with me then took the lead and until he dropped under you coming out of a sweeper to get around you played the same game. I bet you looked in your left side mirror 20 times. Doesn't matter, like I said I'm over it. That was on the last 20 miles of my ride, you only screwed up a short section. Next time when someone is behind you, have a bit of courtesy to let them by unimpeded. It's a great place down there. The roads are killer. I'm glad that you had fun and didn't go down, that's a successful weekend. In the grand scheme it doesn't matter, I was irritated last night when I made the post. If I would have sat for an hour and cooled off I would have never made the post. It was a great weekend, everyone got to do a ton of riding and it was all good as far as I know. I didn't mean to crap in this thread, with the negativity. What happened didn't ruin my day or my weekend at all, just struck a nerve.

After today, I'm going to get new boots and will need to off mine. They are TCX Competizione S. Size 44. I paid around $250 for them. I think they're two years old. Still in really good shape, I've hit the toe sliders a few times. Can take pics if interested. Would let them go for pretty cheap.

I assume you've already read the thread and seen the post I quoted of myself above. If I have to explain it, you would't understand. Anyway, I'm over it. BTW, do a trackday, your form sucks. Had a great weekend of riding and looking to go back in a few weeks.

I do believe your assumption is quite backwards. Had he not dropped a gear and cracked the throttle in an attempt to keep me behind him and moved to the center of the lane to block this wouldn't have been posted. At the next avaiable, though slightly bad spot I was able to get around, but I do agree with your second note, had he not gotten butthurt about being passed there'd be no issue.

So two things.. First I believe I passed a group of ya'll sitting on the side of Wayah road. Then passed ya'll again going the opposite direction on 28. Second, and this an assumption based on the Ohio plate that was on the bike. Who is the jackass that has the bright yellow Shoei helmet, license plate something like ZEB1K maybe?
-
It's sunshine and blue skies here in Nashville. Rain moved out about 2 hours ago.
-
I think I disagree. I've had a couple different helmets across varying price ranges and quality. My current Shoei is by far the best fit and quietest, but ear plugs still make all the difference in the world. Having a proper fitting helmet is important, but ear plugs for me will always be a necessity.

That's freaking incredible. My trip can't come soon enough. Will 16 days be enough? I'm hoping to do a fair bit of camping as well, hopefully that's gonna be possible. I've got friends in glacier and my sister lives in Bryce, ut. I'll also have a place in Idaho falls, but outside of that its going to be camping where possible.
-
I'm going to run up through the badlands area en route to Glacier natl forest and then down thru Idaho falls eventually ending up in Zion natl park then cruising back east thru Colorado. So send all the roads you want, I will have to pick and choose my route.
-
I'll be out that way this fall. Adding this road to the list!
