^ Good advice there also. You will need full gauntlet gloves and over the ankle boots. They aren't that expensive if you call the right people. I call TJ over at Riders Discount for about all my stuff as he can beat just about anyone on gear. As for bike requirements in Novice, you will need to put a bead of Silicone over: Oil Filler Cap, Drain Bolt, Oil Filter. You will also need to tape your wheel weights to the rim (Black Duct tape is my personal fav as it blends with black rims) I also use blue painters tape to prevent any gooey residue on the headlights and brake light, then use the black duct tape over that so it looks better and insures the painters tape won't fall off in the high speed. If later you want to move up in skill level, you will need to change our your coolant from Honda's Hp Coolant (Green) to a poly-glycol (Evans, 7th Gear, Liquid Performance, and Engine Ice) or Distilled Water+Water Wetter(Which will freeze come winter and need to be changed out to Coolant) If you're thinking of going those days, post up if anyone else already hasn't and see if you can garage up with them or meet at the track. Most of us that have been there before are pretty helpful and can get you started as to what to expect and so on.

My guess would be different class that was merged into the race Experts+Novices. Track still looks pretty wet from the Rain on Saturday Still, good job to you and Tuna! PS. Nice red flag ending from the guy on the speedway there You were all up the experts butt and would have passed him I am sure.

I came up with a friend, but watched everyone else out there. Think there was about 6-8 crashes over all. Better then I thought it would be, but everyone took their time for the most part and knew what to expect.

I'm also looking to go those dates, but I'll be holding off till closer to the dates for the weather forecast. From what I remember, its about like this: Gates will open at 7 and you sign in at the gate (Waiver form, and get here early) You and anyone coming with you have to sign a waiver form at the entry gate to get in. Then come into the paddock area and find your spot. You go to the middle garage area far right section and check-in for your tech stickers and get your garage # if you rented one. From there, you unload and begin this process: (Confirm this before going) 7:00-Gates Open 7:15? Tech Inspect starts 8:15-Riders meeting 9:00-Intermediate groups gets on track 9:20-Advanced Group on Track 9:40-Novice Group on Track. After completion of the Riders Meeting, Novice rider's will break off into your classroom session. You will go over the day and on what you will practice on the session you are about to begin. (You will have one of these after each track riding session until just after lunch most likely) Standard groups were about 4-6 students per instructor which will monitor your progress and safety. The above time frame cycle will repeat all day for the exact 20min intervals. 3 sessions then Lunch, then 4 sessions to end your day. There are on-sight gas pumps if you don't bring or forgot gas cans and a food stand if its open for a few hours around lunch time.

I had a brief list in post 117, but list me as Intermediate and confirmed.

+100000 ^ If you don't know what its like, be careful. Seriously.... I have seen so many guys go down because they thinks its just like a wet street. With the sealant that has been used your tires WILL let go with the wrong twitch of the throttle or to much speed when you begin to lean the bike over. If you do choose to ride the track in rain, 1) be super smooth, 2) Take the corners slow and be ready for the rear end to let go, 3) Pray That is all.

Had it done in Lancaster yesterday. Urgent care referral to the place I would have rather went to MM though. If I had to guess fromm the crunch I felt yesteray, I'd go with rotator tear on the top muscle area/bursa.
-
Still not sure I will be able to make it, but would like to. Pending MRI outcome on my shoulder on if I can ride or not.
-
I wouldn't wait until 8k miles to change your oil. Depending on how hard you use the bike and so on, I would change it between 3-5k miles. I run mine pretty hard and did about 8 trackdays last year, so I go with Full synthetic and changing every 3k miles. I also use engine ice in my 1krr and it has had no ill effects, and its whats preferred at most tracks if not distilled water/water wetter.

I don't get off till 5, but I have tools that could work. Send me a PM with some of the info and I might be able to do it. (Lock type/key etc)
-
Nate, did you ever fix your bike issues?
-
I'll be there both days due to my friend and I'll get a garage if someone want to confirm sharing on it. They are $50/day and we can work something out to stay out of the sun and any less polite weather. PM me if that sounds good.
-
+1 ^ I've watched it for the last several days and its changed almost daily. By Thursday evening it should be fairly close.
-
You could say that. I have my MRI tomorrow to see whats fubared in my shoulder. Overall it was quick and annoying. Esp driving for 9 hrs on the trip home with an unuseable arm.

Even with rain tires, the track will still be really slick. Being super smooth and even slowing way down for the turns will be key if you plan on going.

That's the thing, Optimal was what was on my bike nate. There are chunks missing from the edge of the upper where it wraps over to the clip-ons and worn through with some parts having a single layer of fiberglass weave showing. The tail is probably salvageable, but got cracked and pushed in pretty well. The bodywork doesn't blowup or anything, but it just breaks and small chunks start coming out of it. Paul also said its not the easiest stuff to paint either and it does leave the fiberglass weave showing through the clearcoat. Total damage was Subframe tweaked, upper/tail, left peg+bracket, Left Clip-on. My helmet had 1 inch shaved on the clearcoat from a slide, so I just decided to replace rather then risk it and right boot had the slider ripped off.
-
Yeah, the optimal won't hold up so well as I found out. I right hand lowsided and then the bike caught and flipped over onto the left side and drug itself off the track. The left tail is cracked and smashed. The upper wore through and has a lot of gaps and missing chunks in the fiberglass. On the positive side the leathers and helmet came out pretty well! Speed was about 50mph I'd guess, came in way to hot and tried to force it through.
-
Congratz! Paul is definitely the man to get it done. What brand did you go with for the CBR? I need to order another set and have him paint it up and was thinking Attack Perf or maybe Armor Bodies. Hopefully, I won't toss the new bike off the track again.
-
Ya might have, IDK. I'm not good with names for the most part. As for responsibility on a stranger...its no issue with me. I pretty much just put out the offer if I have room and someone can take it. I picked up just about everyone but Whodey on the previous trips as its along the way for the most part. Sent you a PM on what days I'm looking at and let see if we can work something out.
-
Finding someone that is going (friend) is always a good idea. I have taken several bikes(Whodey+wrecked return,Enenen, tomato racing, RFM) to trackdays and races if I am going there. Only makes sense to do it if someone has the space and ability to take a bike for you. Its less hassle then you think and safer then riding back after a track day. Worn out #1 or if you should wreck and then your stranded at the track making calls anyways. And they do make hitches for cars, I thought someone posted a few months back of a hitch on their sports car for just this purpose. Etrailer.com has about everything you need. My old truck's hitch and system came from there and I put it on myself in about an hour or so.
-
When in doubt, format and reinstall! I use Malwarbytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. Two programs to cross check is the best way to go about it if your concerned. I've had my fair share of fixes lately from co-workers and friends/family. With variants of Vundo/Antivirus Virus etc. Last pc I cleared off almost 900 virus's from safe mode and cross HD scanning and it was still so F'ed I just saved the my documents and flattened the drive. Windows can get so screwed up, its not always worth the time and effort into trying to fix it.
-
All personal pref. But I went to Full syn after 3-5k miles.
-
I might switch over to Amsoil in the 600rr, but not sure on the 1000rr. They don't make a 10w-50 which is what I like to use. But since oil changes are fewer for the big bike, I might stick with Repsol and use amsoil in the race bike and see how it goes.
-
Right there with you! I'll probably make my decision around Tues-Weds based on weather forecast. If you make a garage rental before then let me know. I still have your cell # also if I get one before you let me know.
-
Anyone want to split a garage or have one rented and wants to share? Gonna need two spots (Me+1) Unless someone wants to share one with me.
