  1. I don't want wires. Bought my Sena just for that reason. I actually love the way my phone works with gps and Bluetooth BUT using nav on the phone drains the battery even when plugged in and it sucks to use the screen with gloves on.
  2. I did this with @Likwid years ago and saved money. I may not have a bike currently and have gotten rid of a lot of bike related things but I just can't muster getting rid of my jacket, helmet, sena and gloves.
  3. Me and my cousin are heading out today around 11 or so towards sugar creek. Anyone want to meet up along the way? Post up here or text 330.338.9708. After 11 call, I will have my sena on.
  4. Shout out to RD team! Once again came through with the best service and prices. Sent me a Sena 20s to complete my helmet setup. Couldn't be happier with the service I receive every time I order from them.
  5. So I appreciate the kind words about me, always nice to hear! Going forward I want to make sure our customers know that if they buy a Sena product from Riders Discount and are having issues to please call me directly or PM me within the 2 year warranty time frame. Appreciate the patience @thompsonian and @Connie14 with your issues, both of which have now been resolved. We love the Sena product and issues are few and far between but know that you are being taken care of if something does come up. Best Regards, Mike
  6. I regularly ride with 4 others with Sena 20S units and we're all frustrated. One rider has been through hell and back trying to get his hardware and software issues worked out and Sena has been of little help. Mine have been reasonably stable but the range isn't great and each software version seems to be random on whether it helps or hurts. We regularly hear "beat boxing" when someone gets on the edge of range, barely 200 feet away, and that includes anyone in the chain. Speaking of chains, two riders works OK. Three is usually straightforward, but 4 and 5 riders can be a hot mess, even when we're careful to pair up in the order we ride in. I heard today that Sena issued a cease and desist letter to a Facebook group admin who's been collecting experiences, trying to apply pressure to Sena about their bad QC. Talk about digging a hole for themselves. The way I look at it, they have a window. Fix what they’ve got as best as they can, provide upgrade discounts and make an ultra-reliable next gen product to sweep this all behind them. And do it before someone else eats their lunch...
  7. Rode to work this morning with my new ear plugs. I can hear my sena decent, the wind noise is cut down considerably. It is taking some getting used to though. The FJR was already quiet, now I can barely hear it.
  8. Yeah, I had a chat with them that was ignored... Well, it improved some but they did a few more right after the talk. Disrespectful to me and the group. It made communicating with Hellmutt difficult. Our sena's would disconnect when we were to far apart.
  9. Excellent question that I did not know the answer to. I contacted Cardo Systems and Sena to find out and they confirmed that they can only be paired with another comm device of the same brand. Everybody watch out, he's got some go fast stickers.
  10. Upon further research i found that the garmin nuvi(s) are Bluetooth recievers not transmitters is this correct? So if i want a Bluetooth transmitter (where it sends the directions to my Sena) i will have to get the Tomtom rider or the Garmin Zumo. Can anyone verify this?
  11. can anybody familair with the Sena SMH10 answer a question for me: Can you unscrew or unplug the boom mike so that its not inside the helmet. I have very little need for the mike most of the time so I'd rather leave in unplugged if possible
  12. +1 on Sena smh10 with Nolan N104 helmet. I also use earplugs, and it is nice. No wind noise. You can hear music or take phone calls. You can also hear the vehicles near you, without long term hearing damage.
  13. You guys, dont worry, I'll get a sena and I will change nivin's mind for him. He will tear his comm unit out after 12 minutes of off tune Journey between the "oooohhh neat house" and "oops, I'm supposed to brake"
  14. Yes, the headsets make it better for the wife. I like mine for music when she's not along. I have a pair of Sena SMH 10R which are getting to be older but they work fine and we don't need the extra distance and connectability that the newer units offer.
  15. On my 3rd Sena. The first SMH10 was absolutely bullet proof. It just worked and worked well. My second was the 10U for the Neotec biggest pos ever. Had 2 of them die on me totally and two hadbattery issues, wouldnt last as long as advertised. Also wasn't a fan of the clip on handle bar remote that took up a lot of space on the grip. Buttons were small a awkward. I now have the SRL integrated for my Neotec2. I love it so far with zero issues. Battery has been great speaker sound great and no remote. They went back to a 3 button design it keep it stupid simple. I takes a little bit to learn the button functions but the basic stuff is single tap. Only thing I wish it would have is to be able to charge it while using it for those super long days like we had out west last summer but Sena says they do that for safety reasons. Sena customer service is a little less to be desired too. Mike from RD had to take care of most of my issues with my 10U because Sena drag their feet. Their product design is awsome. Product quality middle of the road. And unless it's changed in the last 15 month customer service needed work. EDIT: Also my first SRL came D.O.A too but a quick exchange it has been great
  16. If basic and simple is what you want the Sena smh10 is hard to beat the duel pack. if your looking for more range, better speaker quality and or more options it's all uphill from there. Setting up comms between brands is possible but can be tricky to set up.
  17. I picked up a Garmin Nuvi 765 from eBay a while back for $75. While they don't have all the features of the Zumos, they do have Bluetooth headset capability that allows them to talk to my Sena helmet headset. Not perfect by any means, but serviceable.
  18. The Cardo's seem to be popular with the Wing riders I know in the message boards but I don't see them saying anything that makes me think they are substantially better than the Senas. Boils down to what your riding buddies have if you want to pair with them.
  19. Yup. Sena wasn't technically lying about the range, but it's not possible between just 2 riders. Now, you can BT to your phones and stay linked via a call - but in the mountains it would surely still drop out due to lack of signal in some places.
  20. Hey Pauly you can borrow my Sena for the ride. The only time its get use anymore is when I got to use my uncles riding mower. Put the helmet on, turned the music up and leaned in to every damn corner I could
  21. @max power get it, if you been looking forward to riding two up, i am guessing you love the trips with wifey. Communication system makes such trip so much better. To the point i will never ever go back to non BT two up riding mode. So point number one> get it > its worth it get it second is the choice> Scala is a better unit no doubt just by being water proof itself. But as of now the safe bet for OR environment is getting Sena as literally every one has sena. Sena can talk to scala but confusing and questionable as multi member group. And one of these days when all of a sudden every one stops pretending to be ultra manly and wants to have some sort of communication for safety sake it will be worthy it. Again once you start using the comm system in group rides you will never go without it. No body keep chattering in there and talking as if at a bar counter. Only required stuff like warning, potholes, crap on road, clear to overtake etc itself is worth it. Safety profile taken a notch higher than doing stupid hand and leg signal dancing while riding. Third> which among sena > i think this will be a one time investment for quite a long time to come. Better bet right in the middle in Sena 20s / or 20s evo almost same. Better speakers and hardware, will do everything commonly needed. Still will have the first time struggle of getting connected with others and maintaining connection while in group ride. This is universal for most system till now. the game changer is the mesh network coming up > scala had it dialed down(plus water proof) and better at it with their new model > but unfortunately in this area u have no other scala guys to "mesh with " so no point getting that. The 30 k from sena is very questionable at best at this point. The online reviews and user experience has been so far lukewarm with ton more of complaints than the usual you expect from unhappy users. The prices are chopped down already for 30K> i am thinking they might come out with updated model within next few months. But go ahead and get a sena 20s evo > in ebay you can find new dual pack for 350ish > thats about 175 per unit which is a pretty good deal all things considered.
  22. One of my Smh10 did that too. Sena sent me a new one before I even sent the defective one back because I had a trip coming up and they didn't want me to miss out having it. So it was easy working with them for replacment.
  23. Thinking about grabbing one of the Sena systems. Either SMH5, or SMH10. To those of you have experience with them, how are they? Can you listen to two devices at once? As in, if I had music playing, could I also hear another rider over the intercom, or GPS?
  24. Literally just had to deal with Sena Customer service and I'll back the fact that they are terrible. Went through some rain and my Sena 20S stopped working. Contacted them for warranty replacement and they said the 20S control module is on back order, but the full 20S kit is not. I asked why they couldn't go into the box and just remove the module and send it out instead of having to wait for the 20S to come out of back order. They refused. So now I have to pull the entire system out of my helmet (which takes several attempts to get them perfectly placed) so I don't have to wait for a back ordered items.
  25. What's the camera quality like on the Sena Prism HD Camera? Check out our comparison video below where we put up the Sena Prism against the GoPro Hero 3 black edition - These are the raw video files, there were no color adjustments made to either camera's video file in post. The only adjustment was a rotation to make it a little more level. Camera settings were 1080p x 30fps with no in-camera color enhancement (ie GoPro ProTune) Both cameras were mounted side by side on top of a helmet in their respective waterproof cases.
