JackFlash
Thank you Jack for stepping in an leading the med slow group. Thanks to Derek and Wolfman for organizing, and to JackFlash for stepping up to lead. Great job! Tpoppa, JackFlash, and Helmutt -- Thanks for leading the other groups! Thanks JackFlash for leading. You set a nice pace. I've come a long way, with only three seasons of riding. My confidence has gone from feeling like I'm flying, at45 mph, to, can't get up to 85 fast enough. I'm always willing to help, when I can. I was happy tofill a useful role in this event. I had fun. I hope everyoneelse did, too. Until our next great and "Epic" ride... ~ Jack . Wolfman1
Hello all! I hope everyone had an Epic experience on Saturday. It sounds like everyone made it home safe. What a beautiful day for a ride! It was great to see everyone again and I hope to see you all again on the next one in the spring. Next time I will be on 2 wheels! Thanks again to all leads and sweeps who were willing to take on the added responsibilities. I wish I was out there with ya all. The family and I went to old mans cave and caught multiple crawdads and guppies. Kids had a blast. Let us know if there is anything we can do to make the Epic ride even more Epic. I hope the signs helped with the organization on arrival. We had a suggestion to move the route over to the east. I know there are some awesome roads over that way. Please feel free to comment about changing the route and meet point. I took some pictures and posted the album for all to see. Its not going to be close to the media greatness we see from NinjaDoc & DizzleDan! Thanks again for all your comments and I hope to see you all again soon.
Josh1234
I sure was hurtin' Saturday night when I got home, but after a good night's sleep, I wasn't sore at all the next day. That was pleasant to find out

Please feel free to comment about changing the route and meet point. I am all for changing the route. McConnelsville is a good cetralized meet spot. The pavilion on 78 right on the river, across the street from the Marathon can hold a lot of bikes. There are lots of good route options in/out of McConnelsville. Woodsfield is another meet spot in the middle of lots of really good routes, but it isn't a central location.

JackFlash
Tony peeled off and went north on 83, at Coshocton.Has he chimed in, yet? It was getting late and I want \to make sure he made it home.Anybody hear from him? As for Tonyblaze, Last night, at 10:24 pm, Tony PM'd me and expressedhis excitement about the ride. He mentioned his ridehome through farm country, in the dark, as being anadventure at the least. Whenever there is anotherride, he seems eager, and mentions that he is availablefor future rides as he has days stored up so he cantake off work for them. He asks that he is contactedwhen other rides are formed. Being that he is north, you NEO guys feel free to buzz him up when you aremaking a trip south and into the hills. Cool little Triumphhe has. Of all the returned PM'd that I had sent out, hiswas dripping with the most excitement at the whole day. He was definitely stoked. Cool guy, that Tony. I sent everyone I could think of that was at the ride, a PM.If I missed anyone, my sincerest apologies to you. I enjoy making new friends, and reconnecting with old ones, even if our reconnections are limited to only every year orso. If I can get away from work, and ride with you, I wouldlove to link up. I'm just a PM or Phone/Text away. I had a great day, and I have no doubts the rest of you did, too. As we ride the twisted roads, our skills improve. Happily,no one took a spill, or scuffed up their bike. Let's do it again! Happy trails. As for Tony (Tpoppa), I haven't received a response. . . Grokked
Had a great time on my first Epic Ride. I left the house at 6:10am and returned at 9:05pm with 518 additional miles on the odometer. Fighting the fog on Rt 83 from Lodi to Coshocton was certainly worth the effort. Learned a few things about the limits of myself and about my machine. Many thanks to Derek, Wolfman and all Leads/Sweeps for taking on the organizational PITA side of things so that the rest of us could have a wonderful day. Also, thanks to Al Z Heimer (I think) for some useful advice in the parking lot prior to starting.

Okay, so I asked you about your screen name, and you told me it was Douglas Adams, when I asked if it was a Robert Heinlein reference... but it IS Robert Heinlein, isn't it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok In other news, I think your ride was longer than mine, timewise! I just had to click that link. Now, I'm going to refer to Grokked, as The Borg, and tosoutheast Ohio, as the Delta Quadrant. Don't know why that entered my head. . In this instance, I think it best to use the "I wasn't thinking clearly" defense, or perhaps if something is said without hesitation and enough conviction, an untruth will be the truth. I had even convinced myself of it at the moment. Fortunately, independent verification can let us know when one starts making stuff up. As for the other news, the Slab was likely a smaller percentage of my ride... Kamm's Corners to Lodi in the morning on I-71 and then from Coshocton taking OH-16 to I-77 and I-480 to just get the F#*% home in the evening. JackFlash
If anyone has any ideas on how to keep improvingthe event, please feel free to post here or send mea PM. I am always open to suggestions. I have some ideas. Go get something to drinkand come back and sit down. Relax. Here wego. There were numerous comments about whata long day it was. And it was, for many. Also, there were numerous comments about whata long ride it was, both, to get to Logan, andto get back home. In addition to all that, manymentioned their ride home, in the dark, andabout the chill in the air. Even I put the linerback in my jacket before I took off for home.It was only an hour's ride for me, but for others,it was a long, cold, and lonely ride back home. In spite of it being a great day with beautifulweather, and a very successful event, thereare those issues that possibly cause someto reconsider their decision to participate. The whole day, for many, is hurry up and getthere, ride the ride, hurry up and get home, without much of a break for leisure, or socializing.Even to get a bite of food is a challenge forthose with a time table to meet. If I had to design from scratch, an event, thatmore riders could enjoy, and would be willingto attend, I would add shorter, multiple ridesof various interests, and make the eventappealing to a much larger segment of themotorcycling world, over an entire weekend. Riders could begin to arrive as early as a Friday, and depart as late as a Monday, without feelingpressured by time constraints. They could arriveon their own timetable and depart on their owntimetable. There could be camping or nearby lodging, and places to eat. People could trickle off totourist attractions, but return for the rides theyare interested in participating. We could havea campfire at night, with socializing, a nightlywienie roast or whatever. The possibilities areendless. A much more relaxed day, a more relaxed trip,to, and from the event, and rides of variousinterests may attract a larger variety of peoplethat would love to be a part of what we find soappealing about the Ohio Riders community. One person doesn't have to do it all. We haveenough people to spread organizationalresponsibilities among, but yet, still allow themto fully enjoy as many offerings the weekendwill allow. I, myself, would be more than happyto organize a few rides through the woods. Evena night ride (safely, of course) would add anextra thrill that many may wish to enjoy. I knowI would. What say ye? I'm excited about the idea of anevent, with a more relaxed atmosphere, and onethat would appeal to a larger crowd, toriders from the four corners of the state, andbeyond. We don't have to do it all at once, butover time, several new ideas could be implimentedand tried out to gauge their success. A night ride? Really? Yes! Really! Not fast, but fun. Gentle and easy. It would be a newexperience if you've never ridden through thewoods at night. Chime in. We can do it. The possibilities areendless. . No worries Most people swear by Douglas Adams, and although THGttG was a great read, it's a little tongue-in-cheek. I'm a lover of hard sci-fi, and Robert Heinlein definitely delivers on that! BEAUTIFUL bike, btw, was nice to meet you and see it up close!

When you ride twisties, you're looking down most of the time... Granted there's often just corn & cows to look at, so you're not missing much, but on the way down I rode alongside a little river for a few miles that was great! Every few hundred yards there'd be a little canoe-rental place and such, and with the trees on one side and the river on the other, it was great scenery... Made me pretty happy to be cruising along, not cooped up in a car, and just out for a ride enjoying the sights.
