I have fractured my lumbars in my lower back when I had my motorcycle accident and it hurt like hell for quite some time, thankfully I had no disc damage as well and made a full recovery. I didn't get a fancy turtle brace though, it was a couple pads and some bent aluminum bars. Guess I should have crashed closer to Columbus. Heal up fast. There is a chance he may not get to till tomorrow, Xrays are all done just waiting for them to tell us what I already know since I talked to one of my radiologist that I work with daily.... Tim should be good without surgery but we also found out that the bottom lobes of both lungs are partially collapsed so he needs to take in some deep breaths to help fill them back up and to keep him from getting pneumonia....
