Question for you rotary hooligans

I'm looking at buying a 1985 12A-powered RX7 in Columbus with a vacuum leak of unknown origin. Who in columbus could diagnose and fix this, and how much should I expect to pay for this? If I buy this thing, my plan is to drive down in the morning, take it to someone that same morning who knows more about these cars than I do, and drive home that night. Is that something I can realistically expect to do?

u can't expect to have time constraints when fixing any car, especially RX-7's. realistically u'll be here for a week fixing the POS.

 

didn't u already buy a first gen and sell it?

Yes, due to rust issues. The thing is that this dude is willing to trade me one with no issues other than the vacuum leak for my LeBaron.

 

How long would it take an experienced rotary mechanic to chase down the leak and fix it?

 

Also, assuming I can at least get it back to cleveland as it sits, does anyone know any good rotary mechanics up here?

You need Pete Remner, from Cleveland, to come down with you. He is the only one I would know of with the kind of experience you need. I will try and get his contact info for you asap.
