I bet you don't remember...

Me! Well, I'm back. Three long months in South Carolina, and now I'm back home and proud to say that I'm a Marine. I look forward to continuing where I left off for the short period of time that I'm home. It's nice being back!

Fuck you Joe.

Lol, naw it's all good. I still have the Escort, although its as close to stock form as its going to get. It'll get sold when I leave in February for more training. I'll try and make it to a meet or two. We'll see how busy I am over these next couple weeks. As far as bootcamp being hard... its more mental than physical, unless you go down there a complete lazy slob. If you're in fairly good shape going into it, then it isn't very hard. The mental aspect is the hardest. No matter good you or your plattoon does, you're still a piece of shit, and they'll tell you that straight to your face. They do that all the way to the end. The day before graduation, you're a piece of shit, nasty recruit, and then the next day you're a fellow Devil Dog. The biggest problem is that recruits don't understand just why the Drill Instructors do the kind of things they do. Most recruits think its because they hate their job and hate every single recruit, but its actually just the opposite. They crush you every chance they get, because it makes you stronger mentally and physically. They're so tough on you because they care about the Corps and wouldn't be able to live with themselves if they knew they were putting pieces of shit into THEIR Corps. The easiest way to make it through is to not think. They do all the thinking for you. Just do what they say, when they tell you to, and as quickly as you can with out question and you'll do just fine. We were told from day one that speed, intensity, and volume are all you need to complete recruit training, and they weren't lying. Oh, and the "Brain wash" rumor is true. Your attitude will completely change once you've been through that shit...

 Because someone joins the military, I'm supposed to all of a sudden kiss their ass? I didn't say (or even remotely imply) ANYTHING bad about his military service. I simply stated I didn't notice he was gone (I didn't, so sue me), and the only thing I recalled about him was that car he drives. Nothing about him, what he has been doing, etc.

Anyone else tired of Joe's constant bashing of other people's cars because they don't look like everything else on the road? We know you don't like rice, we know you don't like the change from normal econo-box to abnormal econo-box, you've mentioned it anytime a post about it has come up over the past 3 years. We get the idea!

I didn't, and welcomed him out to meets.

Well it is more like he came out to a meet or two and earned people's respect unlike someone else that is a negative, narrow minded ass

Welcome Back fellow Devil Dog.

Now get on that quarterdeck..

side straddle hop?? I I Sir!!

pushups?? I I Sir!!

bends and thrusts? I I sir!!

....Yeah I was there and surived too. 2nd Batallion, platoon 2100. Graduated September 27, 1991. Did 1 yr at New River, then got lucky and did my remaining tour at HMX-1 Presidential Helicopter Squadron at Quantico Va. (The best 4 years of my life!!!!) I'm now 32 and I can say that joining the Marines was the best thing I ever did. I've got a great job and great experiences all because of the Corp. You're %100 right about boot camp... all mental. We once at 3:00am got dressed online 36 times cause when they said FREEZE.. some idiots kept moving!! We would take everything back off and start over again... yep 36 times!!! I remember when I got back home.. I felt that I could kick anybodys ass who looked at me the wrong way.. and back then I could. Just don't go starting anything.. but if someone starts shit, just think back to Leather Neck Square and unleash the fury!!!

Semper Fi Devil Dog!!! Oooo Rah!!!

Same here. I noticed that he wasn't taking shit from people, and welcomed him here even before he showed up at a meet.

Joe, I never said you have to kiss anyone's ass. However, it's not that difficult to show some fucking respect.

Haha! Yep, that brings back memories now. I was 3rd Battalion, Kilo Company, PLT 3001. You might be surprised to here that our PLT set the new Regimental record for Final Drill at a 79.65! Apparently we made history on Parris Island. We're the FIRST males to ever drill on the 4th Battalion parade deck (they wanted to see how to REALLY "pop sticks"), they took the video of our final drill and incorporated it into part of a video that they use for teaching at the drill instructor school, and most importantly we broke the record. Our Senior D.I. had 20-30 D.I.'s from all over the Island over at his house to watch our tape on his big screen. There was also a boot-leg video of our final drill that was secretly taken by another D.I. I tell you this, because I'm sure you actually now just how big all that is. I tell people (friends/family) back home, and they're just like,"Oh, well that's nice."

I remember all that kind of shit. We never had to get dressed 36 times, but 5 or 6 times wasn't abnormal. Our Drill Hat made us do 50 Marine Corps pushups when we got up on New Year's Day. Appparently that's how they celebrate the New Year down there tongue.gif . Do the words "Spirit" and "Discipline" mean much to you? Those two words and "The Pit" will forever be engraved in my mind. I haven't really had any run-ins since I've been home where I thought that I might need to utilize a horizontal elbow strike, but I will say that many people that I didn't mind before, now disgust me. Nasty civilians... tongue.gif

Man that's awesome!!!!

I tell you what's cool... guys that would pick on you and try to pick fights with you before, won't even look your way now.. and if they do, they're all friendly and trying to kiss your ass. It always amazed me. I truly wasn't that different after I got back from boot camp... but just that status of being a "Marine" made everyone I knew alittle more nicer and respectfull. I would walk down the middle of the local mall with my red satin jacket and high n tight haircut and people would part like the Red Sea.... like I said... the best 4 years of my life. Good Luck

Lol... i haven't had that kind of reaction, but a lot of people have said that I've changed. I stand up taller, actually wear clothes that fit, and have a cocky attitude (at least thats what they say). You're right though, a lot of the guys that gave me shit before I left are nice to me now, and its not like I gained 50 lbs. of muscle. I'm still fairly scrawny...
