Bam
Dude, i'm fucking learning here. Brian thought the lid was making it run super lean since I had just installed it a few days before. I understand doing a tune up, and have been doing it all slowly. Flushed all the fluids and did royal purple in engine/rear, did coolant flush, intake filter, etc. tr5's? i think anthony said he's running autolites? should i gap them to factory specs or what? Linn1647545492
If your car is an auto leave it in drive and let the car shift it's self. Until you put a cam in the car don't worry about shift point. EDIT: why is your car shifting at 5500? are you sure that the tach is just not slow and is reading incorrectly? I shift my car at ~7000 rpm and the tach never reads over 6500 I just watch for my shift light. With just botl on I would think your car is shifting at ~5800 rpm
Linn1647545492
randy sets them at 6500, when it shifts, it drops right back into the torque peak, which is what you what, cause thats when the hp starts to push the car Is that for a bolt on car or cammed car? Linn1647545492
Thanks for the responses, have any/all of you guys had your car on a dyno to verify it's still making power that high? Again, just curious. Stock cammed cars start to fall off on power above 5800
Squale iii
so you knowly tuned a car that was having a issue..nice. fueling(filter with 85k isnt going to flow that great let me tell you), and tune up parts have a roll in it...should have done that first, then tune! not after n/a tr5's. tr6's if minor boost or spray. I guess I should probably check my fuel filter lol.

With just botl on I would think your car is shifting at ~5800 rpm I do just leave it in D, never messed with manually shifting through the gears. The car is shifting at 5500rpms according to my tach, but i guess it could be slow. I will double check it again tonight with a snap-on scanner. But my peak HP is at like 5300rpms so a couple hundred above to shift at is normal I think for the delay, right?
MrMeanGreen
The car needs scanned other than messing around. You need to scan it at the track, in humid weather. You need to check block learns, O2s, IATs, etc. There's too many dynamics of this car, but all need addressed.
Linn1647545492
If Brian tuned your car and you are unhappy with the shift points pick up the phone and call him. I'm sure he would be more than happy to change the shift points for you. You should be shifting around 6000rwhp with a stock cammed car. Already talked to him, again this post is NOT to complain or say anything about Brian, he's been a great guy through and through, and most likely saved my car from ending itself. I merely made this post to learn more/get an idea of what other people with LS1 cars were shifting at for the best time/performance.

MrMeanGreen
Can you post a dyno graph? I'll tell ya what, do a tune-up first before pursuing this issue any further. You'll need stock plugs gapped at .060, new wires would be nice, fuel filter, PCV valve to make sure you're not getting blow-by, and I'd even go as far as doing a tranny flush if you haven't already. Linn1647545492
cause stock the motor should still be making power past 6k..that why. I'm not trying to start a flame war with you but you are wrong. STOCK cams do not make peak power above 6000rpm. Making power yes, I shifted my car at 6100 with a stock cam. Bam
My Dyno... http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t124/BAM614_Cobra/DSCN2590.jpg This is after a few pulls so it was a tad hot, peak power is noted in my sig, but obviously this is probably more realistic on the street. Posted it, hope its good enough. I am picking up parts tonight to do a full tune up. What are the stock plugs just incase the parts store doesn't know? That's kinda how it was explained to me. It's not necessarily about shifting at peak power, it's shifting alittle past peak...So when your rpm drops you're in a better rpm for power in the next gear.
