I grabbed a 2600k from Microcenter but am sending it off to a buddy for his build.

Mine is still the same, though I'm tempted to toss these 4870x2's in X-Fire onto my main system for shits. I'll probably just list em for sale though as I don't need that much GPU power.

My "server" was upgraded using some junk parts laying around though, it's now:

Gigabyte P55-UD3L

i7 875k under a Xigmatek S1283 heatsink

6GB DDR3

750GB WD Green HD for OS/etc

1TB WD Green HDD for Storage

Nvidia GTS250 Video Card

Total: $1069.85

Some of this may be overkill. You can save $80 if you are happy with just a DVD Burner. PSU is far more than you need for this setup. You likely won't need 12GB of ram, so you can save another $95 dumping down to 6GB.

I am sure you can price shop a lot of this stuff down some too...I am sure to under $1000 and still keep all of this gear.

Motherfuck, I was just going to post that haha. Apparently it doesn't affect the 0 and 1 SATA ports (this is a motherboard issue, not the actual CPU). Regardless intel is supposedly going to eat the losses and replace them, also the issue shouldn't present itself right away so I might go ahead and build and then get it replaced once they get it all ironed out. And I didn't get the i7 because it was an extra $100 lol.

update: Actually from what I'm hearing now it's the chip set on the mobos, not the processor (whoops didn't see your post above).. My buddy told me at microcenter this morning it was chaos and they were pulling all intel cpu's off the shelf.

How much did you pay for the motherboard, processor, and ram (each)?

I paid $85 for the RAM, the CPU and mobo were a combo deal on Newegg. Because of this shit storm they've taken all the Sandy Bridge CPUs and mobos down haha so I couldn't tell you how much they were off the top of my head...$350ish give or take?

CPUs are back out for sale. We pulled every system and motherboard with a P67 or H67 chipset though.

Once the RMA system is set up this will be the 3rd time I've replaced my sandy bridge mobo :)

Jesus, is that a radiator or a condenser out of a deep freezer?

If I were to ever build another watercooled system I would use a small car radiator and mount it over an entire side panel. Could probably get away with passive cooling at that point...or use the car fan as well lol.

Oh, and if anyone wants to do a submerged system let me know. I've helped on a few builds and know all the small things that matter big time.

I'm thinking of upgrading mine to quad Planar LCD's now. We'll see if my deal goes through.

I seriously have too much PC shit. If I spent 1/4th of the time working on my car as I did messing with PC's, the fucker would actually get out of the garage for once.
