Fubar231 Posted January 30, 2012 Report Share Posted January 30, 2012 Alright so tonight i tried to make a run to the gas station and trying to back out of the garage the car didnt really want to go into reverse, after a few seconds of trying over and over it went in. Didnt grind just wouldnt go in. It also feels weird going into gear. Like i have to push really hard for it to go in. When i got to the gas station i was putting the car in 1st and it grinded (Clutch fully disengaged, pushed to the floor). Get out of the gas station and it wouldnt go into reverse at all. Had to put it back out of the spot, then when i got back in the car, went into reverse just fine. What do you guys think is going on... Fubar231 Posted January 30, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 30, 2012 When i was trying to push the car into reverse and it wouldnt go it wasnt grinding or anything, it was just like pushing against something that was pushing back. But sometimes my car won't go into reverse, like you said it's like it's blocked out and somethings pushing against it. Pump the clutch a couple of times then try it again. That seems to work for me. I've owned Mustangs, they are beat. To the OP - make sure there isn't any air in the system... bleeding/bench bleeding may be a possible fix. Green Bastard Posted January 30, 2012 Report Share Posted January 30, 2012 Try holding the clutch in for about 9-10 seconds then put it in reverse, if it won't go or it grinds this usually indicates worn clutch componets, also does it just do it when it's cold? Try driving the car around to get it warmed up then try to put it in reverse, in car it's kinda hard to put it in 1st or 2nd until it's warmed up when it's cold outside Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks for pointing that out, but when it wouldnt go in i wouldnt push hard. If it didnt go in id just wait a second and try again. It seems like its only doing this on reverse. I havn't had any problems with first but reverse is just a PITA when trying to get it in gear. LS_Sonoma Posted January 31, 2012 Report Share Posted January 31, 2012 I say synchro since all other gears work fine. I believe the reverse gear shares a syncro with one other forward gear iirc. Go through all gears and shift at 5k. The one that is difficult is the culprit. I believe it shares 5th or 6th. Oh I have a 4l60e to trade you if you want it...
