Over 99K in attendance at the spring game, LOL. Most teams only dream of getting that many people to show up at a game. Perfect "storm" for it: coming off national championship, picture perfect weather, rough winter (so people are really wanting out of the house), and cheap tickets.

BTW, it's reasons like this why Ohio State will always - all things being equal - get the nod over most other teams when it comes to being selected for the playoff. Ohio State = massive interest, massive cache, and massive money.

Is that a confirmed spring game record for the NCAA Entirely? Figure it has to be.

Yeah, OSU had the record (just shy of 96k) before this anyway so they broke their own record. Only 8 stadiums in the country could have fit OSU's spring game crowd.

Here's the 10 biggest spring game crowds...

99,341 – Ohio State (2015)

95,722 – Ohio State (2009)

92,310 – Alabama (2011)

92,138 – Alabama (2007)

91,312 – Alabama (2010)

84,050 – Alabama (2009)

83,401 – Auburn (2013)

81,112 – Ohio State (2012)

80,149 – Nebraska (2008)

78,526 – Alabama (2012)

And OSU got 2 more commits today. 3* OL Jack Wohlabaugh from Stow, OH for the class of 2016 and 4* DB Marcus Williamson from Westerville for the class of 2017. Could still be another commit or two from this weekend.

Is it me or does it look like there are two Joey Bosa's there - the doppelgänger Bosa is like 2 rows down.

Looks a bit like him. It's Kyle Berger. 4* LB out of HS, was nearly a 5* but dropped down due to missing his senior year with a knee injury. I believe the plan all along was to redshirt last season but he also re-injured his knee at some point during practices/training. Not sure he'll ever play at OSU. OSU just seems to have such bad luck with kids from St. Ignatius.

A lot of the best players didn't play much (Bosa, Zeke, etc.) then obviously Braxton and JT couldn't play either.

Tyvis Powell's INT on Cardale was actually a really nice read and play by Tyvis. He's had some big INT's in his career (OT vs. Michigan in 2013, final play vs. Bama in the Sugar Bowl) but I've always felt he wasn't really very good. This was pass coverage though and I've always felt he's awful in run support so we may still get that this season.

True freshman early enrollee Nick Conner out of Dublin had an INT and a forced fumble. If we were so set at LB already I'd say he could be pushing for playing time. Either way, having guys that good in the depth chart for competition purposes is always good. The kids he grew up with still haven't graduated HS and he's already out there in front of 100k making plays.

Corey Smith looked good catching a couple long TD's from Cardale. He burned Eli Apple for the first one and then a walk-on for the second late in the game.

Redshirt freshman Terry McLaurin had a nice TD grab in the end zone on a pass from 4th string redshirt freshman QB Stephen Collier. Guys like McLaurin and Noah Brown (targeted a lot on Saturday but I think he only ended up with a few grabs) will be trying to fill the shoes of Evan Spencer and Devin Smith.

Sophomore safety Erick Smith (who, had Tyvis not become such a leader/gotten a reputation for his "clutch" INT's, I thought would overtake Powell at some point last season or this off-season) had 2 INT's. Like Conner being able to push the first 3-4 LB's on the depth chart, Smith will be able to do the same with Bell and Powell.

I will admit, once the attendance was announced and the halftime festivities were done (fastest Buckeye race where Zeke won and a QB throwing competition between Barrett, Jones and Troy Smith - JT won the general passing drill but Cardale obviously won the long ball throw with a pretty effortless 74 yard toss - Troy, not having played anywhere competitively in about 2 years, was still about to throw it nearly 70 yards himself), I wasn't paying as much attention so here are several good write ups from 11w...

Some updates...

OSU landed what may be the #1 punter in the country earlier this week when Drue Chrisman from Cincinnati LaSalle HS committed. He had offers from FSU, BYU (he's Mormon), UCLA, Kentucky and others. Will grayshirt unless Cam leaves early (not ridiculous - I think a few of the Aussie guys who have come over to punt have done it).

Urban had an appendectomy yesterday. Supposed to throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium tomorrow but may have to hold himself back from doing that due to the surgery. He still plans to participate. It's Ohio State day or something. For those who don't know, Steinbrenner got his masters at OSU and was a grad assistant for Woody Hayes in 1954 when OSU won a national title.

And today OSU landed 4* OT Michael Jordan from Michigan. One of the top 3 players in the state and his commitment to OSU came as something of a surprise to a lot of Michigan people. We lost the top 2 OL in Ohio to Notre Dame because of Catholicism so it's nice to steal a good one from Michigan.

This might help explain part of the Yankees/Clippers affiliation. Always seemed liked he had a soft spot for Columbus until he was rejected a new stadium for the billionth time.

Golson leaving Notre Dame. The question going around Reddit is which team does he make a playoff contender. My answer "none". I just dont think he is that good and his turnover issues aren't going to put a team over the top.

Jamel Dean has committed to Auburn. It will be interesting to see how much and when he actually plays.

I learned a bit about the Orthopedic doctor for the OSU football team, and basically it sounds like he will be more conservative when clearing players for knee issues due to him being respected as one of the top knee injury prevention and treatment specialists.

Was pretty funny when people in the "Golson or Braxton" thread started talking up Golson's passing ability and talking down Braxton's.

Golson had just over a 2:1 TD to INT ratio last season while completing 60% of his passes.

Braxton had well over a 3:1 TD to INT ratio in 2013 while completing 63.5% of his passes.

It's like people see Braxton's amazing running ability (Golson doesn't come close here) and can't seem to process the fact that he's a good passer on top of that.
