Gump
I wonder if the rear wheel spinning and turning the front sprocket would cause any internal damages since the oil pumps not working.
Steve Butters
I wonder if the rear wheel spinning and turning the front sprocket would cause any internal damages since the oil pumps not working.i would say not....guess anything is possible, but i dont see that being a problem
Bad324
i think they recommended to remove the chain if towing like that
EvilTwin
i think they recommended to remove the chain if towing like thatBe easier to store a huge ass trailer if that were the case.
Gump
Ya, if taking off the chain is part of the deal, I'd rather pull my trailer. Edited January 31, 2011 by Gump
max power
Probably give you a nice flat spot on your rear tire too.
Steve Butters
i would say it wouldnt hurt anything, aside from wearing out your tire.its not like the engine is turning 9k rpm, your trans is just free spinning...no different than towing a car like that i wouldnt think
Gump
I'd guess it would be fine. I think all the oil would be pooled up back there.
jporter12
I'd guess it would be fine. I think all the oil would be pooled up back there. That's what I was thinking, too. The tire wear shouldn't be nearly as bad as miles under the bikes own power.
Gump
Little weight also. It might not be good to haul it a 1000 miles at one time but a few hundred here and there then riding it any flat spot would be rolled off.
cOoTeR
The owners manual for my bike said do not tow the bike or coast with it it in neutral while the bike is off. Other than a few yards. I believe it said this was because it has a cassette type transmission. I will double check and let you know. ross
I saw a guy pulling a bike with one of these on Hayden Run a couple months ago. Looked shitty as fuck but you don't have to worry about a flat spot on the center because it flexed so much he wasn't going to have a chicken strip on the right side of his tire.
