If this is going to be your "I'm single and looking to get ass" car I would advise against a Pontiac

this man brings up a great point, go luxury sport and don't look back if you want to pick up loosely moraled broads

  • 4 weeks later...

Well I brought the girl home. Black with the blood red interior. Mean as hell for a bone stock GTO. I love it. Have a few little things to fix. Lot is to send a leather specialist out to fix the stitching on the rear seat where it pulled apart. Then I got two new tires for the front that the lot paid for and then I will get the other two on Thursday when they show up.

Want to change, just, the mufflers. Was thinking some two chamber Borlas.

Maybe a set of wheels and a ram air hood And that's it.

Oh, and pulled in behind a G8 at a lot this weekend and that is a big no thank-you for a cookie cutter sedan. I love what I got.

Congrats, but Don't just do mufflers! Those cars/engines love long tube headers! Do a full exhaust, then go see DTM. Make more HP and get better mileage and it'll sound better.

No it is a 04! #28

LS1, completely stock.

i hope you got a good deal on it then! I've seen 04's go thousands less than the 05's since they are "less desirable". I'd take an 04 in a heartbeat though for the right price

Me too...hate the "Lets hang scoops all over it" Pontiac mentality.

eh its not the scoops so much as it is the powerplant and other little things. I think it NEEDED the scoops bad to make it stand out from the "just a cavalier" crowd

I actually thought in this case the scoops looked better on the GTO... If I had an 04, I would do the Manaro conversion...

absolutely completely this

Here's my unbiased opinion on the GTO. Pontiac's biggest mistake was naming it a GTO. It's nothing like the 60s and 70s GTOs, so I think they alienated a lot of their core clientele. That being said, as a Holden Monero import/rebadge, it's an excellent car. Big engine, little car. Proven chassis, drivetrain. Buy it because of that, not because it's a GTO. I mean, really, you're getting C5/6 Corvette performance (more or less) for half the price (or less).

This car is just another of the few they started making through Pontiac (G6, G8) right before they went belly up that were the best cars in 20 years they'd turned out. Stupid GM. :-)

you call 3725 lbs. curb weight a "little car?"

I know it's 350 hp and a lot of torque, but a Miata is a little car. A GTO is not...

the 'vette of the same year was "under 3300 lbs.," and I wouldn't really call a vette "little" either.

must get the 6.0, don't settle for less. Willing to bet you'll be plagued with the typical GM window regulator problem on coupes. Plenty of interior rattle noise is bound to happen as well. If you plan on making any power, beef up the rear end or you'll probably blow it

Well said... espicially the rear end weakness

I think it is a stretch to say you are getting C5/C6 performance "more or less" too...

Still,

I drove several 6.0's and they are fun. Personally, if I were looking for cheap muscle..2001 Trans Am WS6 with a 6 speed and a Borla exhaust. My room mate in college had one and that is still one of the most fun cars I have ever driven (Including S4's, Jags and M3's)

It is a 2004 model LS1, 350/350 6 speed... Black on red leather. I would love to put on a ram air hood, I think they do look better. Not looking at changing a lot. Wheels exhaust and the hood.

It has 40k before my trip down south to my buddies.

No scratches no marks nothing but a bone stock GTO. Beautiful black goat. Unmolested.

Putting tires on it this week.
