speedytriple
Anyone ever try hunting wild boar in ohio? Any hot spots to go to. Looking for info but not finding much besides the map on the odnr site. Thanks for any help.
buildit
Never heard of it in Ohio but it is big sport in SC and Georgia.
C-bus
I think there are areas in SE Ohio. My wife's cousin shot a hog in Athens/Hocking area, but that was 10 years ago and a guided (read "canned") hunt. I do believe there are wild hogs down there, though
obesityrules
there is a place in vinton county off 50 that has a sign up for guided hog hunts, it's about 10 min west of mcarthur
speedytriple
Ive read on other ohio hunting forums that the ranch in vinton closed and just released the pigs into the wild. Not sure if thats true or not. Looking for wild not ranch pigs but thanks for the leads so far.

JohnG
Tried it here once, but that was a long time ago. We had heard the stories, No closed season, no limit, no firearm restrictions... Grandma Faye's Grocery used to have a bunch of hero pics of hogs killed locally. Reports are apparently exaggerated. We spent a day and didn't see any sign at all.In contrast, I went on a hog hunt in '04 in south central Texas... You could tell where the hogs had been. The ground looked like someone went crazy with a rototiller. We had a riot. Would have killed a lot more but we were using archery gear and mostly spot and stalking. scottb
So i guess this thread is not about trolling the bars at 2:30 AM in the morning?
imprez55
My uncle has tried to get info on some wild ones for a few years and never really turns anything up. At one point I believe ODNR had a map of sightings but there were so few sightings, with too small of numbers, and too far away for me to justify checking it out for myself. On a related note, I know someone on here posted a great video of a guy using his helicopter and an AR15(?) to bag a ton of them.-Edit-Found it; cmh_sprint posted it a little while back:http://vimeo.com/21181307 Edited August 17, 2012 by imprez55
cmh_sprint
Here i thought this thread was about picking up chicks at a bar in any rural town in Ohio.
Beegreenstrings
Them bastards used to thick in Zeleski state forrest. There was a ton of us bow shooters went down and put the smack down on them. The manager was requesting total inhalation!
snot
I thought you did this at 230 am on a Harley? Never knew ohio had actual " wild hogs".
jayjie15
Wow, it took till the second page of replies for the 2am bar jokes to come out. Lol... I prefer hog farming over hog hunting. I like to cultivate the herd.

ohiomike
I did some checking on wild boar hunting here in Ohio a couple years back. I did find a couple of outfitters over on the SE side of the state that had some great success finding wild hogs.At that time I was over in a gunshop in Lancaster and got to talking with a guy from down Macarthur way who was in picking up ammo for the hog hunting he was doing. He said there were a lot down his way, but wouldn't let me in on where I could get permission to hunt.

speedytriple
Yeah gump i seen the map before and even check with the local game wardens in the areas listed. They all said they have not seen or heard of much pig activities in a while. Looks like there numbers are low enough it's real hard to find them.
