Who still has semi-auto rifles for sale?

I noticed the media stupidity in the first line of that article. It says the guy turned in two rifle and a .22 caliber shotgun.

Another caption said "logging in a rifle" and it is a double barrel shotgun.

I can ALMOST see how a family would decide "we don't want this gun in the house, what should we do? Oh look, a buy back program, let's get some cash for this thing, since the right thing to do is get rid of guns and it will be distroyed"

And, if the goal is to "get rid of guns", the family would turn it in to the police instead of selling it to a gun shop, where it could be re-sold.

Instead of profiting, a family would be thinking emotionaly.

I can see dumping all those crap compact pistols and maybe even the "evil" assault weapons not knowing that those two are sort of special, but who throws away nice hunting rifles and shotguns? Not really thinking profit (although I would have loved to give the guy with the Colt $500 and escorted him to the nearest FFL), just more hoping some of those end up in some cop's closet rather than a blast furnace.

Is the run on AR's already over? I had someone offer me one in trade on a scope for sale today. I'm asking $1K for the scope. I thought anything remotely close to an AR was selling for over that now? With prices for the AR on a roller coaster, I don't know if I should trade him or not.

The one issue I noticed the last few days most of the stores I visited over the last week, did not have .223 ammo, or anything related to reloading .233 ( brass, dies).

Possibly would have to order ammo on-line?

I am just now learning about AR's, so if you were going to use the cash from the scope for an AR anyways, might not be a bad deal.

I am sure if you post a pic of the to be traded AR, or at least the brand / options, the smarter people could advise.

Depends on the AR. I got mine brand new for $850, got lucky on it basically having no mark up

Go to the hoodiest Walmart you can find.... The kind where there are more Christmas shoplifters than there are shoppers. There, you will find ammo. Seriously.... I bought 200 rounds of .223 yesterday just because it was there. Plenty left. Also plenty of 100rnds/$18 federal brass left too.

I've seen crazy stuff in that parking lot. There's generally also a PD cruiser picking up a shop lifter 24 hours a day. I would advise not being in that parking lot at night unless you know the neighborhood and how to handle it. Don't walk out at night with anything visibly worth grabbing, like a bag from the pharmacy.

It's amazing..... Target and Walmart are literally around the corner from one another. But worlds apart. My hood too.... Wally World is an adventure every time.

What's an expected price to pay for .223? Both HD and cheap target stuff. I paid $8/20 rd box at Point Blank for cheap target stuff.

I might try the walmart in the hood, Bedford (near the Maple Hts side) or Steel Yard Commons( maybe).

I went the other route. I went to Walmart in Aurora, a semi-upscale area thinking the shoppers there don't hunt or have guns. Then, I went to Streetsboro, not to bad of an area, but very rural. I figured there, ammo would be a good stocking-stuffer gift and thought there would be plenty of selection. The only 9mm there was blue and silver box of a brand called PPU for $9 per 50. I don't know if it was brass or aluminum cases. Streetsboro has a selection of black powder stuff, but not the rifles.

Yep, Powell Wally World had 25 boxes of 223 last Wednesday, between myself and 1 other kid we cleared them out. I bet they got more though.
