I find it so funny how Brian is o so in love with Ducati now that he works for them. if we all could remember back when he worked for KTM he spouted all out about how KTM was the pinnacle of motorcycles and everything they produced was top notch best out blah blah blah. so its funny hearing him tell people stuff when his opinion is obviously biased. id say how much i love whatever brand i work for especially when i get alot of free and discounted shit!4 points

no its not mine. a friend of mine from work picked his up, and he let me take it for a spin. fit/finish: excellent for a $3000 motorcycle. everything is very thought out, paint is top notch, the instrument cluster is fantastic for a small little bike. Seems like it belongs on something a little pricier. The bars are a tad chincy to me, and the mirrors stick out like a sore thumb. only really big thing that bothers me is the swingarm is cheap looking, like it came straight off the XR100 and got painted black. Ergos: i fit alot better than i thought i would on it. the seat height is 31" and you can tell. its got alot more leg room to the pegs than i thought as well. bars are at a good height, though like i mentioned in the above category, a bit cheap feeling. those would be the first thing id change, although i dont know how good the the bar height would be then. Brakes: adequate, but for fast paced riding at the gap, or riding it at circleville, id go with a steel braided line and better pads. Suspension: meh... it works and decent, but the front needs resprung something fierce. You can pretty much bottom the forks out by holding the brake lever and giving it a good push. so stiffer springs would be a MUST! Rear shock doesnt seem way undersprung, but id for sure do it as well. or look into other shock options if i really wanted to spend some money. engine: its a 125cc 4 stroke, what do you expect? does it have alot of power? No. but the engine is smooth, and pulled me around with no issues. its pretty quick for what it is, and you can easily clutch a wheelie up. an exhaust/filter/tune would do alot for the bike and make it even better. the power band is great in it though (what power it has) and would be a blast on a kart track. Transmission: pretty smooth, gear changes are positive and consistent. Needs another gear. If it had another gear it would change the bike dramatically. although im sure they didnt just because of the power it makes. so they are trying to utilize what the have. the clutch is great, and i did get a couple of back scratches on down shifts coming off a nice straightaway. me thinks you could probably get this bike to back in nicely. Handling: so light, so small, it corners pretty damn good even with the super plush suspenders. it will be pretty easy to drag knee on this little scoot. i think dragging pegs will be an issue, but rearsets are all over the internet already (as the bike has been out overseas for years already) aftermarket: HUUUUUUGGEEE!! as stated above its been out for years overseas. and the aftermarket is big on these. Americas aftermarket is already selling parts and they have only been in dealerships about a week. there is gonna be so many goodies for these, and CHEAP! full exhaust can be had for about $250. Fun factor: pretty awesome for a NEW bike for $3000. yes its a niche market, and really only useful for short commutes, in town hooligan riding, kart tracks like circleville, or what would be the most fun of all... laps on deals gap. this would be hours of knee dragging fun on the dragon. i would buy this bike for this purpose alone. But i think these are gonna be a HUGE success and there will definately be Grom race leagues started. this will also be the premiere pit bike im sure. if you have never experienced riding a small bike like and XR100, KLX110, NSR50, etc. at a Kart Track, then jsut hopping on the Grom and riding it like normal you may not get the same impression as i did. after riding and racing on down at CRP on little bikes makes me appreciate this bike for what it is and the true fun factor it has. good luck trying to get your hands on one in the next few months if you didnt put a deposit down on one already. Turnone and Jinu better watch out at the gap next year, if i get a Grom, im gonna be passing thier scoots up.2 points

I guess you guys are right they did do it as a favor but I kinda wish they would have just thrown it away. Guess I just don't like getting overcharged for anything you have to admit almost $30 to ship a box the size of a cereal box is ridiculous. Lesson learned, moving on. sent via GS32 points

I liked this movie but apparently it's being thought of as the worst ST movie ever. After watching this, I can see where they are coming from...but I still like it. This is pretty funny - especially for ST fans.2 points

Made a last minute decision to take a three-day weekend and head out to ride a bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway and swing through Deal's Gap. Also decided that I would pop my motorcycle camping cherry and give that a go instead of staying in hotels along the way. I just have to get through work tomorrow morning and then I'll be heading south! Josh1 point

You could make loot making a clutch cover window kit. Aluminum ring with a bolt circle, counter bored for a plexiglass window, customer uses a template you supply to cut out the center of his own clutch cover and drill and tap holes. Considering the verage windowed cover is $400 and you could mill the ring in a matter of minutes with a few bucks in bar stock. I'd be happy to help you develop one for the oil cooled Suzuki gsxr/gsxf/gsf motors.1 point

The $20 bill is a great idea. if i were the manager, i think i would send that $20 bill, draw a veiny dong on it impaling itself into a dog, and write a message underneath saying "here's your 'suffed' dog, you ungrateful dickbutt". ....this is why i don't work for hotels, or just places in general where i have to be nice to people. also, no, i have yet to draw an autonomous dong with a penchant for dog fucking. on a $20 bill.1 point

The hungry mobs and unwashed masses would overwhelm the amounts of ammo you have saved up, and eventually eat all your stored food, and maybe your dogs and cats too. It can't be cut all at once, but it can be whittled down a little at a time. Cut 10% a each year on all government spending, across the board until we stop bleeding. .1 point

I wasn't implying in any shape or form that Magz is a trekker but a "techie"....you know, someone who thinks they're hip with technology. In his case, he's about as clueless as he is with political topics or to be honest, with just about anything.1 point

There does not seem to be a source for head covers for the V Star 650 motors. I am a member on one of their sites and people there have the originals which all peel the chroming right off over time. There has been lots of talk about where to get good replacements.1 point

It seems there was a communication breakdown between your wishes and the employee sent to the UPS store. I would blow it off and chalk it up to experience. It's not like they had to ship it, and didn't charge you for the service. The UPS store isn't going to refund any money. I would let it go and forget it. Life is too short. .1 point

So much mis-information in this thread I don't even know where to start but I'll give it a shot... A full exhaust along with a race air filter like a BMC are as far as I would go with performance mods, they will net you some pretty noticeable gains. I went from 105 to 118 hp with a proper tune, and saw gains of over 20 hp in the midrange. Tuning this bike COULDN'T BE EASIER!!!!!!! There is FREE software called TuneECU that will write directly to the ECU. No need to spend money on a piggy back system like a TuneBoy, PowerCommander, Bazzaz, etc. Also, a well known 675 tuner who will tune with TuneECU is right here in Bucyrus, OH. (Near Mid-O) Check out HordPower.com, he did a custom dyno tune on my bike and it cost me a measly $100. It's worth the drive no matter what part of OH you're from. So, with a full exhaust, race filter and a tune, you're in for about $2K with $3K left to spend. Next thing I would address is braking. The bike already has pretty decent Brembo calipers and master cylinder on it and already has braided lines. The only upgrade I would consider is the rotors. The 675R is known to have a small amount of shudder under HEAVY braking. Solution...full floating rotors. $500 for a set. Or...try these. https://tpoparts.com/cat093/index.php?route=product/product&path=52_56&product_id=225 Lots of people on the Triumph forums have used them with great success, they convert your semi-floating rotors into full floating rotors. You'll need 20 to do both rotors, $132 instead of $500. If you use the buttons, you're at a grand total of $2132 spent. Next, buy some track bodywork for it. I would recommend Optimal Racing fairings. $455 shipped, I've had them on one of my older 675's and Jbot has them on his. They're pretty decent fit and finish. Paint them yourself for $50 or spend $400-ish for a basic paintjob. I would just paint them myself...keep in mind that there's a good chance this bike will go down on the track at some point. Also, you'll need an 06-08 style windscreen to go with these fairings. All of the race fairings (with the exception of SharkSkinz) use the 06-08 style screen. Grand total is at $2687-3037 depending what you choose for paint. The last thing I would spend money on is a decent steering damper. I would suggest a Scott's or a PitBull. Stay away from GPR, I've had problems with my V4 leaking oil even after being sent back to be rebuilt. One of those is going to set you back about $450. Grand total so far, $3087-3487 and you are on a pretty damn capable track/race bike. If this is going to be a track only bike, you could recover a pretty good chunk of that by selling off your stock fairings, headlights, turn signals, etc. Your stock rearsets aren't going to drag. The 675 sits a tad higher than other 600's and the rearsets are already in a pretty aggressive position. If you're dragging them, you're doing it wrong and you're about to crash. The stock clip-ons are perfectly fine too. The only advantage to aftermarket clip-ons is they're easier to change out if you crash and break one. Stock clip-ons are super cheap though. Same with rearsets. If that $5K is really burning a hole in your pocket they would probably be the next thing I'd add, followed by some case covers like the ones GBR offers. Last, do a 520 chain conversion and go down to a 15T front sprocket while you're at it. If you have any questions about the bike I'd be glad to help. Suspension setup, etc. I've been tracking/racing a 675 for a few years now, and I think I've owned in the neighborhood of 10-12 different 675's. Heck, half of the 675's on this board were mine at one point, lol. And last...like everyone else mentioned spend the most money on track time. It will make you faster than all these other mods combined.1 point

Yawn. I was sadly hoping for more or well, actually less. No need to sell the KTM for a baby Pani. Now a 690r or 1190ADV just got moved up on the want list. All attention now focused on Honda in anticipation the new V4 Aprilla killer will be released this year.1 point

I agree with fairings, suspension upgrades, brakes, rearsets, spare tires, and most importantly trackdays. From all I've been told, these will be the best initial investments to yield better results. Some different sprockets for gearing options. You can nab more torque just gearing the bike. Good luck, you've already got a great specimen to start with1 point

I would argue that we are supposed to be a constitutional republic...that was the intent of our founding fathers...but that we are far from it now. Not sure what to call it...other than messed up.The cornerstone of a constitutional republic is that you are ruled by law. Law that empowers people and specifically limits the power of the government. The topic of this thread is proof that isn't happening.1 point
