  2. Just got back from spending all of last week in Sturgis, SD and surrounding area riding the roads and twisties out there. Quite epic roads and for me the trip of a lifetime. Went with a friend from work and some of his friends. Seven of us total. Met up with 2 more guys while there for 2 of the days. Purposely went the week before the Sturgis Rally to beat the traffic and the price increases. Rode 1,000 miles of roads there in 5 days time. Had a blast doing some canyon carving and sight seeing too. Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore Roads were awesome. Went to Devils Tower one day and down through Spearfish Canyon. Deadwood was a neat place as well as Hill City and Custer. Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road were epic. Traffic started getting heavy the last few days there. Overall, it was a great trip and would do it again in the future sometime. I would highly recommend it but not during the rally week.

  8. OK, some other forums I am on have a thread like this, and it seems to be interesting(250+ pages). You can simply just say what you did to your bike for the that day.

  11. I cut my teeth on Honda XR 200(225?) when I was a teenager. I got a DRZ400 about six months ago. I love it. I just installed a FCR and HotCams; it woke her up. I'm a Vet. I'm married. Have children. Just looking to find good people to ride with. Bonus points if you have an Enduro/SuperMoto!

  17. Well there you go, you both got a room mate. BTW, I know where all the cheap good hotels are. For example 35 bucks in Franklin at a Mom and Pop roadside hotel that is clean and just fine. 75 bucks in Townsend TN, right at the end of the Foothills Pkwy with a great BBQ place across the street. And cell phone service. Shame Joe doesn't know about this stuff since he is the official planner.

  18. Changing things up a little for the diet and see if I can get off this plateau. This will be my breakfast, lunch and snack for the next couple weeks. In all there is 20 oz. Of vanilla almond milk, 2 scoops of vanilla creme protien isolate powder, 1/2 cup of oats, 6 teaspoons of fiber powder, 1/2 cup of shelled pistachios, and 2 small boxes of raisins(that will be switched to prunes but I forgot to buy them this week). Total calorie count on that counter 825, with almost no carbs or fat and all protien and fiber. We will see what happens.

  22. Dang, I wasn't planning on going to this but I think I have to now, even if it's for 1 day. It'll be nice to see my old 675 at the track too. I think that bike has changed hands 3-4 times since I sold it.

  25. Go south, young man....to KY, that is. You live in the geographical middle of Suburban Hell which includes mini-van-driving soccer moms, malls, gridlock, and intersections every 100 yards. One glance at Googlemap will show you it's futile to ride anywhere nearby, leaving you two choices: head to southeast OH or due south across the river to KY. If you have interest in exploring the roads in KY, lemeno.

  31. @ScubaCinci Joe: I'll chime in here just to remind you that if you're on the hook for route planning to the NC area, most if not all the work has been done for you. Just go to the LocalRider forum and search the Touring thread for any of the recent (last 3-4 years) Fall Trip threads. My recommendation for most fun/twisties would be the 2014 route (p#6, I believe) that Dice and I worked on. Not the fastest way down, but you'll never be bored. Hits all the favorites like Black Mtn, 16/Hungry Mother, 421/the Snake, 209, and a few that most have never heard about...like Hayters Gap. Two day ride with an overnight in Abingdon VA. Other routes used by Bannister and Scott Hyflyer go east thru WV with a stop at Hillbilly Hot Dogs and an overnight in Raleigh, then down the BRP.

  32. I decided on something with luggage, good passenger accommodations, FI, and I just won't do spoked wheels. I wanted something capable of touring. The V Star I bought is really clean and the price was right (I can easily sell it and get my money back). It's reasonably fun to ride. I'm trying to see if I can enjoy life in the "slower" lane.
