  1. Welp, the day has come. I'm headed out this morning, headed to Maine eventually. Kreiga bags are packed, thanks @Casper and @RidersDiscount. New oil, thanks to Mike again for that, and new brake fluid. Bike is ready to roll. Here's the proposed route. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19532685 That gets us to the camp sites, assuming we'll a little tooling around when we figure out where we'll be for the night. My bivy sack and sleeping pad are in the tail bags. I hate riding long distance with a backpack so everything I'm taking had to fit in the tail bags and tank bag. Sure I'll forget a few things, but whatever, it's a motorcycle adventure.

  2. Hopefully he won't get any. If he does he will see one cloud three states over and cancel the rest of the trip.

  4. I rode to Deals Gap on my 600rr with a Harley last year. We just had an understanding that at times I was going to blast on ahead and I'd stop and wait up at turn off points. I had a blast and my buddy said he'd love to ride with me again. I'd guess Jacob has the same understanding with his uncle. He does have more youth on his side than I do as well.

  5. FYI, if anyone decides to go with @OsuMj on one of her "hikes".... I attempted to do a trail that she did last year, and I thought I was going to die. Ran out of water, didnt make it to the top. Almost died I tell you!

  6. Just don't EVER use it in Harrisburg. It will take you through hell. It will be 110 in the middle of massive street traffic, red lights and funerals....and it will take you past 10 on ramps that if used will put you on 5 miles of freeway and get you out of town ....but no, it just takes you past them to mock you and instead takes through a school zone and a parade. Other than that it is fine.

  9. I'll be in sometime Wednesday. Haven't nailed down route or when I'm leaving so who knows when. May be early just to miss some traffic on the way down.

  12. As you head north along the coast in New Hampshire, Rt 1A from Hampton Baech up to Rye Harbor is very scenic. In Rye Harbor there are some lobster shacks near the fishing boat harbor. Rye Harbor Lobster Pound is very good. Rt 1 up along the Maine coast north of Rockland is a nice ride also. When you are at Acadia National Park, make sure you go over to the other side (north) of the bay and go to Schoodic Point. If the tide is in and the waves are rolling, there are rocks which act like giant blow holes. At Acadia, take the loop road to the south side of Bass Island. (Thunder Hole) Looks like you'll be near Mt Washington near Gorham NH. Check the website for the mountain before going up the auto road to see what the conditions are like at the summit. 75 and sunny at the bottom might be 37 and high winds at the top.. On a clear day you can see 100 miles. ALso looks like you're going west over the Kanc from Conway. Nice ride. Watch out for cars in blind corners turning into parking lots along the river. Ben & Jerrys is a good stop too. We've done many of the areas on your route three or four times. Hope to get back up there again soon. Enjoy the ride !

  14. Looks like a good start to a game of bike-tag, as they tend to do over at the ADV site. Anyhow...here is a place with an interesting name...near Beverly, Ohio. Along the Muskingum river.

  15. Due to the old school aerodynamics you may be able to draft behind my ZRX. It cuts through the wind like a brick.

  17. it is (well at least was) possible to sweet talk them in to checking in to the cabin if it is empty and clean already. One year we left Wednesday night and drove through the night and checked in around 7am.

  30. Maybe those 40 neighbors could offer to buy the property from the current owner and make a nice quiet park instead of just complain about it.

  34. The truth is, even if the gap was closed I wouldn't really care. I didn't ride it once last spring. More time to spend on all the other great roads and maybe find some new ones.

  36. Buy one of the 250s. It serves your current needs well and you can sell it later for pretty much what you paid.

  37. Ok, I am ready. On the left is Apple Pie and on the right is a Rye and George Washington's recipe for whiskey. That is interesting, it smells horrendous because it has hops in it but it is really good.
