i been scourging the internet for some time for a lighter bike, but as always never knew exactly what i want just a general theme. This time was in double mind, a lighter bike with some off road prowess to experience some real adv rides vs a lighter bike which i can take to track to exp track days. After tons of reading was sure there was no one good answer. But after thinking a lot and realizing more and more when i see Dans ride reports etc, i am not made out for such ruthless manly man rides fighting bears off and sleeping on top of tree etc. I mean i struggled a lot of years to get here not to do these any more hehehe But some day i am gonna grow a pair again and jump into those. Thus choice was narrowed to lighter bike that i can push around with my puny little body strength and possibly load into a trailer. Plus reasonably comfortable for single long day rides. So SS bikes were out. I want to get to track days and experience and learn more stuff, at the same time extrapolate that to real world riding in streets where i will still be doing most miles. and this way i hope to bring in some balance to family and my personal vacation time by trailering bike around and if at all possible get one day of riding which definitely makes a big difference. And thus narrowed the results further. After all this wall of txt, final decision making process was as simple as forest gump.. just went to gap..rode a striple... went into my head database of "zillion bikes for sale at night".com .. remembered seeing a clean striple... texted him sunday ...today was my last off day for next 1 month almost... just went to see it....... My first challenge i put on myself was if i dont feel comfortable doing "trailering" stuff i wouldn't buy it. Went to uhaul to check it out, It turns out to be an easy walk in the park, and there by shattering all my hopes of walking away from this maddness. Next obstacle i put on my mind was, if its not clean as he described i am walking away ....went in ...just wanted to see if it was as clean as he said... coz the price was fair not a steal deal. Saw the guy, older gentlemen very professional..heated garage.. And it was cleeeean ... like @Al Z. Heimer care level. Looked better than some show room stuff i seen. Oil /Brake Fluids like clear water Didnt feel like beating up the guys price and effort he put into it. And ended up bringing it home. i guess i might as well just embrace who i am. Just a mad mad motoholic fuxer i guess lol ... Sad part is i was getting to know the feejer real well after around 5 k miles on it. Hopefully i get to keep both. I usually dont do more than one bike at a time. Second sad part is i kept myself away from track days due to the trailering woes and worries. Now i realize its not a big deal, i am going to be in big trouble soon. Especially with Nelson black top ready plus a mid ohio certificate in my pocket already ........ dddddayuuuum need to resist. First time using a trailer in my life/ like driving loading etc/ tie downs etc/ will be another month before i even get to ride it, i mean might not even get time to plate it the way schedule is looking like for next one month.

I was one of many motorcyclists that contacted their Reps trying to get this antiquated law fixed. Thankfully, unlike you, Representative Wesley Goodman did not ignore their constituents and has drafted a Bill to fix this situation. He needs support and co-sponsors. Please contact him and do both. I don't know what I'm going to do without the entertainment of waking up to Shawn swinging a fireplace shovel repeatedly as a mouse zigzags across the floor... guess I'll just manage with the clean rooms and functional appliances...

Where I live in Japan, everyday use is normal. I will get a car if necessary but since leaving in about a year, dont want to put money into a car unless I really want too I want to ride and its only me, no girlfriend so its cool I can use my family's car if I need to use a car.

Bet some redneck would trade you a motorcycle for that mulletmobile.

You can blame me if this causes any issues. My daughter's birthday lands on Thursday in 2018. ----------------------------------- Lodging We're changing it up for 2018. We've reserved all of Townsend Gateway Inn. That's 45 beds in total. Townsend Gateway Inn offers a lot of cool stuff for us. There's a conference room we can use for free, grills on the property, a pool, two fire pits (they even supply the wood for us), BBQ onsite, several restaurants nearby (including Trailside Steakhouse for those like me who were craving steak this last trip), wifi that actually works, cell phone reception, two miles from the entrance to Smokey Mountain National Park, etc. There are even a few gas stations and grocery/convenience stores nearby. It's only 45 minutes away from the dragon and (according to @Tonik) the roads are awesome. For those who like to head down to Georgia, it doesn't add much to the time/mileage. For those who want to dual sport, there are tons of gravel/dirt roads nearby. There are several others motels in Townsend if you'd like to stay somewhere else or if we sell out. Little River Bar BQ is across the street (suppose to be really good), as is River Rage Tubing for anyone who wants to go tubing. For those looking to camp, Ye Olde Mill Campground is across the street next to the tubing place, and several other campgrounds are just down the road. And for @OsuMj and anyone she suckers into hiking, the Townsend Historical Trail runs right in front of the motel. Shannon and I were traipsing around in TN/NC/GA today. We rode to Clayton down 28, and due to weather we turned around with the intentions of finding alternate riding North. In Franklin I decided to go to Robbinsville for lunch. Check the GPS and saw Wayah Road looked great from the map, was clear of rain, and I remembered the name having been tossed around as a good ride. But if I recall, the condition was in question. I proceeded ahead, hoping to add its curves to my local knowledge, and lo and behold, the middle section has been repaved. 5 miles at each end are still a little rough, though not bad at all. Maybe 80/100. But the middle 20 miles is brand new asphalt. And damn is it a nice stretch of curves. There's a sweeper on that road better than any in the area. Amazing. Anyway, thought someone would appreciate the report. Have at it! Wayah Road is back!

I have more invested in my gear than he plans on spending on a bike.

I was summoned. I myself have not used a foam cannon/gun but the general thing I see on r/autodetailing is that the cheaper Amazon ones work just fine but the name brand ones can be worth the extra money sometimes for warranties and such. Check out the subreddit sometime, full of information.

Buy a Ninja 250. I'm 6'2" 220 and my first bike was a Ninja 250. Rode it for a year and 5000 miles and sold it for about the same price. Carbs are not a problem if your ride regularly. If it has a carb it has a choke. No big deal, pull it out when you start up the bike and push it back in when its warm. My Ninja had carbs and so does my current DRZ400. If you are looking for budget transportation then the EX250 is a good idea also. Better than 60 mpg and inexpensive tires that last a long time. Bigger sport bikes go through expensive tires pretty quickly.

I've personally never had any issues using my canyon dancers... I've used them a fair amount as well.

Did it come with extra batteries?

In, Gateway Inn is very nice clean place with great staff. Enjoyed my stay there this year and definitely looking forward to 2018. Pending this and smoky mountain crawl dates.

I bought a NoMar Cycle Hill changer used. It has paid for itself. They sometimes pop up on Craigslist or forum's classifieds.

Hey, my bike/s are my primary means of transportation all year long here in northern Ohio. However, I'm no rookie. Also, I have so much invested in bikes, maintenance/upkeep, gear, etc, that it would have been much better financially to just buy a civic.

I guess you just have to buy a spare set a rims too.

I'm not confident with my skill level, which is why I'm doing a track day.

Shouldn't matter, just make sure there's good life (and they arent old as shit). As long as you are comfortable on the tires ya got on there right now you should be gravy. (Just my .02) When and where can we expect to see ya out there?

You weren't kidding about the condition of clean on that thing. You're not getting a congrats though because this is just routine at this point Also, canyon dancer and a Baxley makes trailering a breeze.

I used a dancer to haul my bike to and from the gap. Never had an issue with bars or bike moving around. I don't even have a wheel stand or anything and it survived Cincinnati so I'd say a Canyon Dancer is a great product.

Just over 4 days, a little more than 1300 miles, 4 states, & 2 countries. 4 women, 2 Ducati Monsters, 1 Yamaha R6, & 1 Silverado carrying a Supermoto and all the rest of our gear. Unfortunately our trip contained a crash not long after we crossed into Canada from MI, and after a 5 hour delay at a hospital we continued on without our injured rider. Luckily she only suffered broken bones and road rash... it could have been much worse - the whole thing happened almost right next to me and was very surreal. Once we arrived at the event, there were bikes everywhere at the campground (all kinds from old Royal Enfields to BMW GS1200s to Triumph Scrambers to Harley cruisers and a few supersports). There were 550 women that arrived for a weekend of camping, free drinks, karaoke, live bands and some really beautiful riding thru the Catskills of NY. The weekend was perfect for riding, until Sunday when we left for home. We left early trying to beat a storm, but still hit downpours thru PA that soaked us completely thru our raingear, so we had to stop to dry out and wait for the storm to pass. This was an epic journey for me as I've never taken a motorcycle trip, let alone go camping, all with women I'd never met in person either. I had such a great time meeting women riders from different states and going on my first all women group ride (there were 15 of us)! It was a blast and I hope to go back. And, yes there were lesbians there...

Wow, that looks awesome! Congrats on the new ride. I've trailered my bikes all over when I was traveling in the service and it's not too bad. Now you got me thinking about trailering mine on vacation with the family. Well if I ever get time off for a vacation that is lol.

In. I know this place and the area. It is where I always stay when I am not with you folks. It is perfect. I suggested it last year but it was too late to change. Casper forgot I mentioned it and refound the place on his own. So we have the positive opinion of someone that usually hates everything and a retard independently. So we are good to go. You folks will love this place. And yea, you get Foothills Pkwy and the dragon first thing with no traffic. It also makes Maggie Valley and all those amazing roads reachable.

This guy is really trying to help you. Find a bike you like and can afford. Go buy it and ride it. It does not matter if it's carb or fuel injection if it runs well. Chances are you will be looking to sell it and upgrade at some point anyway. This is your 1st bike and more than likely not your last bike you'll ever buy. I understand you are looking to spend almost all the money you have and that's scary. For $1500 realize you probably are not going to find a perfect bike. I would say the 1988 500 ninja that was mentioned at some point has been your best option.
