  1. I installed a new set of roadsmarts on the FJR and did some much needed cleaning on both bikes. FJR is now prepped and ready to go for my trip to Virginia Beach this weekend. The MT has been getting all the attention, so now it's time for the FJR to do what it does best, eat up miles and miles of twistys all day long.

  2. The Vaquero got a full 2-1 exhaust. Not crazy loud but I can hear it idle now. Also installed a quick release back rest for the wife. Mileage is up and I’m better than half way through the break in period.

  4. Put on a set of Road 5’s. Ready to see if the are as good as the reviews say they are.

  5. They come with a foam spacer. It is the diameter of the speaker, maybe a half inch thick in case you need it closer to your ears.

  7. Someone I work with rides a Harley that has all the bases covered: Chinese chrome everywhere, ugly-loud pipes and the icing on the cake: custom painted tank of not flames, not skulls, but flaming skulls- wearing doo rags. And it's very poorly drawn. I'll be sure to snap a pic next time he rides this thing in.

  9. I have zero issues with my rf1200 and my smh10. They fit well together. I've never had the clamp let go. I've never had to tighten it. It's never moved since I installed. It's been at least 5 years and tens of thousands of miles and a few rain storms.

  13. Shinko 244 in the front and Shinko 700 on the rear. I set them both up tubeless. I had no problem with the street tires tubeless on these rims but they were a better fit for the width of the rim. We shall see this week on the Shinkos

  14. I kove this thread already. What's the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The location of the dirtbag.

  15. NinjaDoc, I had a 1981 750 Honda for years when my (3) kids were growing up and maybe put 500 miles on a year. In the back of my mind I knew I would get a chance to ride again and have that feeling again..... it's in your blood. I traveled the country watching my kids play sports in high school and college. In 2007 my youngest told me he was not going to play college ball, I turned to my wife and said; "I'm buying a new bike". Since 2007 I have bought a 2005 FZ1 (Totaled), 2006 FZ1, 2008 FZ1, 2014 Kaw Ninja 1000 and 2017 FZ10. Doc, when you have the time you will allow yourself the time to ride. I believe it's in your blood, you currently have responsibilities with this phase of your life that will be worth the sacrifice, kids are worth it! You can pick up your passion later and enjoy bikes just as much.

  16. For everyone else except the two rump rangers go the way below. 14 miles of 26 (slab) and you can pick up 208, 212, 209 and so on. Then cut through Maggie Valley and the BRP and come in near Gatlinburg to Townsend. Yea, the last part will be a bit lame with traffic along the river, if you want to skip that head to Franklin from Maggie, have dinner at Cafe Rel then up 26 to the Gap then Townsend. https://goo.gl/maps/QhXHkKz59wC2

  17. It is possible to have kids and enjoy motorcycling. I don't ride like I used to. While I don't blame anyone for not riding while they have little kids, it is possible to have both. I couldn't make it to the Epic Ride, because of a promise to my kids.

  19. Mountain biking has become my other hobby. Started riding in June 2017 and have dug my rabbit hole deep. I bought a new 2017 Diamondback Sync'r Pro in December as it was hugely discounted for year end. I was in Virginia last week riding in George Washington National forest and will be traveling to Asheville, NC this Thursday with a friend. I can not get enough of the tinkering and riding. Just a small share of my past, present, and future.
