  6. My name is Omni I was born in Texas but grew up in Washington state. Army Bratt! I am in the world's greatest Navy and have been for the past 8 years. I just moved, well got stationed out in Ohio and the people are so much nicer here then in California... I could do without all the snow though goodness! There should be a warning label on ohio for how cold it gets for people like me lol. I've been riding for over a year so I guess you can call me a newbie but I can handle my own really well. [emoji41] I've seen a few riders out and about, now trying to make some friends and do a group ride every once in awhile. Thanks, Omni ♡

  9. Got a '77 XR75 when I was 11. Dad took me to his buddies out in the stix who's son had the same bike. He yanked it off the truck, started it up for me, handed it over, and said "have at it boy". Off I went with this other kid I'd never met, when he starts pulling away and leaves my sight while I'm wringing the grip off of that throttle. WTF? I go back to find my Dad and his buddy drinking beer on the back porch, I roll up and throw the bike on the ground screaming how it's a piece of junk and the other bike is smoking mine out there. Dad burps, looks at me stupid and says " well, are ya shifting right?". Dumbfounded, I retort..."uh, shifting?". After a brief lesson, I was hooked from that moment on.

  10. When I'm stopped at a light, I dominate the half of my lane closest to the lane with the most moving traffic. That blocks access, to a degree, to someone pulling such a stunt. .

I was 9 when we bought it. 1974 Yamaha DT 175, purchased with paper route money when I was 13. 1985 Yamaha V Max, purchased with money from working at a gas station when I was 17. Yes, I was 17 and had a V Max. I'm lucky to be alive...but I've always been badass.

  19. I should clarify that the little 50 was the first bike I ever rode actually. It's what I learned the shift patterns on and getting the hang of things. It's my buddies bike and then he threw me on a Kawasaki 80 two stroke than I promptly ran into a fence. I've been hooked ever since

  21. A Concord Shadow Moped. My grandfather bought one of these new for my dad, and he rode it in high school to go fishing. When I was 12, I started riding it around the yard. Last time I checked it had around 1200 miles on it.

  27. So the LEOs didn't even take the info, they didn't give a shit as expected. Should I of punched his window as he passed me, maybe not, but at the same time he should not have been so close to me in my lane that I could do such a thing. Again it was mostly reflex, and I wanted to get his attention to no come over anymore. If I would have gone any more left I would of been dealing with oncoming traffic, as I was in the left side of the left turn lane. You sir are an asshat. I have never said lane sharing is OK, and I have never done it. I have been past on 315 by others on bikes lane spitting, as I stand in traffic. The law says we can't do it, and with the high population of your asshat brethren, it is for the best. Had this been a "He didn't see me" I would not be so pissed, but this was deliberate. We were all stopped. We had been stopped, and he decided getting to work faster was more important than my life. In my book that is assault with a motor vehicle, but my book is a little harsh, I will admit that. And for risking my life he got 5 feet in front of me.

  28. who said it's ok if we do it on bikes? she certainly didn't in this thread. are you someone who thinks its ok to regularly share lanes with cars by generally passing them close illegally? if so, you're the asshat. also, if you don't understand the difference in damage potentials for a car pushing into a car while merging versus a bike pushing into a car while merging, maybe you're not an asshat, just dumb as hell. generally a pretty lousy thing to say to someone who almost got squished by a car, and a pretty douchey thing to say to a fellow rider who had a pretty good scare. lame.

  39. 10k per year for myself, wife and daughter. Imagine what could be done to stimulate the economy if we only kept insurance for our daughter. Ya my wife's employer pays for it but if we could get that extra money in her paycheck. At least our company only employees 3 (not including me) full time people so we fall well under the radar for keeping drug addicts employed and paying for anyone's health care. Shit since my wife got her new job 3 years ago our company hasn't even offered health insurance, but the 3 full time people have their own through spouses. So basically our company offered insurance just for me. And that freed up a bit of capital through the company. Just think if people weren't forced to buy something they could spend the money elsewhere and really boost the economy. But as long as obummacare is law my healthcare mutual funds are putting a nice extra chunk of change in my pocket.
