  1. It's those darn paddock girls... they get websites shut off all the time... http://biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=22102
  2. ^^what redkow97 said. I've had the parking brake stick on my Jeep, and I just drive it to fix it. Big pop/clunk and it lets go. With mine, it's something else that sticks when it's wet outside. Lots of brake squeak also, for a bit. It's not my cable, I think... It's a Jeep thing...
  3. like... Environmental Communications? Go out in the woods and talk to the trees? j/k
  4. Yeah, I buy from twisted throttle. But Sears had a 30 dollar box recently. It did take a month to get it though. It's not the most expensive box, but it looks like it works. Generic "bolt on to a rack" mount came with it, nothing fancy. Some of the twisted throttle "other brand" boxes are on sale on eBay from Twisted Throttle.
  5. Most new firearms should fire 50 to 200 rounds to break in and prove that reliability. Some don't need it, many do.
  6. Wind... I watched downdrafts push surface winds at 3 to 4 times the speed of winds aloft. I even had trouble standing several times.
  7. I generally pull the wheel and drum, and use vice grips to yank the cable back. Then I don't use the parking brake till I replace the defective cable.
  8. If it's aluminum metal in the oil, the engine should still clean up with a lot of work removing the metal from everything. Sounds like a piston gave up. As long as the cylinder bores/cylinder head survived. Crank bearings will have to be checked closely or replaced. It's still better than breaking and throwing a piston rod.
  9. Yeah, what they all said. The .45 feels like too much in a small frame for some people. Dunno. I've had .380 in light frames kick more than 9mm in heavier frames. It's all what it feels like. (It seems like the design of Glocks keeps the barrel low, and lessens the kick/recoil.) Which is why it's so important to try them. If you really want to practice with cheap ammo, buy a .38 or .357 revolver and practice with that. You can even practice with dirt cheap .22cal. It's the practice part that counts, and finish up with your favorite sidearm to stay familiar with it. edit: 45cal ammo has gotten fairly expensive. I suppose just because it's got so much copper and lead in it, and metals prices have gone way up.
  10. Yup, I've read that in terms of a collectible investment, that nothing after 1980 is worth collecting. Everything was too over produced. If you want to invest, buy from the 50s and 60s. Good God I wish I still had mine... (not to mention all the ones used up in bicycle spokes...)
  11. whutdeheck the poster image is missing... I found it, and it won't link image anymore... It might start working again later... Here is one from another website... http://www.ohio-riders.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2010-8-15&e=280&c=1
  12. 1. You don't really use your little finger on the grip for much more than moral support. 2. You forgot .40cal. Important since most LEOs go for 9mm, .45cal, or .40cal. A few federal agencies use or did use 10mm. 3. There are small 1911s, like the Commander, or the Officer model. Or equivalent from other manufacturers. 4. Unless you're a really big person, a single stack magazine type firearm will conceal easier than a double stack magazine. 5. In anything other than warm weather, when you're wearing heavy jackets, it won't matter. Except when you have to take it off. 6. Reliability is the only factor worthy. Accuracy and cost at close range doesn't matter. At long range, you probably shouldn't be firing. Like everyone says, go to a firing range that rents firearms to try out, and do that. Find one that you are comfortable with. Also check out some of the holsters if they have time, and try those on too (with the firearm).
  13. I think I should go out deer hunting with the bike. That way I won't find one...
  14. "... and hide your husband, 'cause they rapin' everyone out here!"
  15. I don't think Shawn saw the deer, I heard he woke up on the side of the road. His helmet is here at work, someone brought it in with all the rash and deer blood. He's still in the hospital. I'm trying to find out where. edit: that's probably not all deer blood, that's some of his also. Update: Shawn is recuperating at home. Guess the road rash wasn't too bad. Next question is how's the bike...
  16. Just heard this morning a co-worker hit a deer with his bike, on Monday night. Probably on the way home from work. He's ok with back rash. More later when I find out.
  17. You didn't know about that? If it broke in the first few weeks/months, tell them you think it was defective. The best is a free one, the worst is 50% off. Some people on the internetz say response is spotty. I say don't pick a particular color you have to have, and it's more likely they will send something.
  18. LittleCarb made me do it... Bullskin Road, the "other" first road in Ohio. 19. Making that map wasn't easy, and I'm sure it's mostly dirt and gravel roads. There is another "first state road", 1807, called The Bullskin Road that runs from Bullskin Landing on the Ohio River to Xenia, where it becomes The Detroit Road and goes to Detroit through Urbana, Bowling Green, Toledo, etc. The Bullskin Road
