  1. I appreciate the kind words @NinjaDocif I remember correctly your bike had some damage to it from your first group ride yet you were back out there trying again. That willingness will always be met with help as long as there is potential, some people shouldn't ride, and you weren't one of them. @jschaf is correct about the usual pace being intermediate trackday without the straights speeds. Every one of the guys that ride in the faster group is capable of leading the group and keeping everyone entertained and safe. They all are approachable and willing to help other riders with tips or techniques, some are even good at it. Speed is not the ultimate goal of a ride, having fun is. The slowest guy in the slow group and the fastest guy in the fast group should be having the same amount of fun or everyone is doing it wrong. Riding within your acquired skillset at an entertaining pace shouldn't put you or others in danger. Those skills come from several sources and take several years plus not all results are equal. Being one of the fast guys doesn't give you any virtue over anyone else. You can be fast and be an asshole so being fast isn't something that makes you better than others at all things in life. One of the guys that currently rides with the fast group was asked to leave one of these rides years ago because he didn't belong riding with the group he had chosen. If the group is doing its job this is how it should be. I hope he can retell the story but my take on it is that he was unsafe for others around him and to himself. That got fixed with time and him listening to others with more experience that were willing to help him. This ride will have the same opportunities for everyone to have fun and learn from others. I can guarantee that the fast group won't be going Mach Retard by their estimations even though it may seem that way to the less experienced riders. My recollection of the Mach Retard ride is similar to @jschaf in that it isn't how you ride in groups but rather on your own when you know that it isn't how you are supposed to ride on the streets. I went out one day on my own riding fast to clear my head and accidently ran across MidgetTodd and Hutch at a gas stop along with another rider. I told them clearly that they could ride with me but it wouldn't be a group ride and that they would be on their own. Long story short the guy that was riding with them wrecked and in some part I felt at fault because I knew better. Group rides have rules for a reason yet they can still be fun. I do ride with the fast group most of the time but by no means am the fastest rider. I have had a rider on this forum lose me so badly in nine miles that he was waiting for me with his helmet and gloves off when I finally made it to the stop. On our return trip down that road he was passed by an even faster rider. No matter how fast you are there is always someone faster which leads back to speed not being the ultimate goal or necessary for a good time. This clique thing is perplexing to me, having rode with and tried to help as many riders here that I can while also knowing many other riders that do the same thing I find the accusation without merit.
  2. I am here to make a formal complaint about the jack booted thugs mocking the rest of us by posting in locked threads. This torture must cease and desist or you will drive the caring and kind members of this community away. What's wrong with a little Ranting and Raving. This is not my first complaint regarding this matter only the names of the over moderators have changed. What can we be offended by today people?
  3. Is it a thing that the fast group doesn't let new riders ride with the group unless someone in the group has ridden with them in the past and can vouch for them? Kinda like a pussy OR click.
  4. So you just told the kids to stay off of your yard while chasing them from behind your walker?
  5. Over moderator! I don't hang out here much anymore so forgive me if I'm not up to speed on any new rule changes. Is it a new OR thing that threads must remain on topic? This seems completely unOR.
  6. Took care of your negative rep Tim. Doesn't matter how fast Jim is, his exhaust on the Honda is too loud so he has to ride in the back.
  7. Not yet but I think we are getting close. Parts were ordered based on initial teardown from obviously damaged gears. Once all the parts came in and the transmission was totally disassembled there were some gears with hidden internal damage. Time to order more parts again and each time it takes 7 to 10 working days for them to arrive. I can't understand this but Mike doesn't work two days a week so his lazy ass is holding up my riding this summer.
  8. Wait a minute! Have I been granted special posting in locked threads powers or has Tonik bitched out on his over moderating?
  9. I signed in specifically to call out Tonik for being a little bitch from locking a thread. Over moderator!
  10. Miniature Bull Terrier. We have shown dogs for over 20 years this was our first Best In Show of any kind.
  11. I don't hate Ducati but can never see myself buying one. I don't have any use for character in a bike, while I can wrench some I have no desire to. I break shit, almost everything I ride or drive so I want to be able to replace it cheaply and quickly without remorse. Getting a Ducati to perfection and throwing it off the side of the road would be a waste of time and effort. How a bike looks doesn't factor in very highly on my buying criteria and I think most Ducatis are beautiful but wouldn't every pay extra for the good looks. I don't care how a motorcycle sounds either. I'm far from a "greenie" but I can't wait until silent electric motorcycles become useful, that's why my bikes keep the stock quiet exhaust. It's also a reason for me to ride in front on most group rides, I hate listening to loud motorcycles. I really want a good automatic bike too, shifting gears is such a tiresome ordeal and hopefully will become unnecessary. The Multistada on paper is just about as good as it gets and for the right person is perfection. IP falls into that narrow group of people that are capable of riding and working on them to get the most out of it, I totally get why he loves that bike. The BMW S1000XR also looks good on paper, I'm hoping Honda, Kawasaki or Yamaha make a bike that reaches the Multi or the XR benchmarks. Plus they are all junk and I'm not a fag.
  12. Parts came in yesterday. Starts getting put back together tomorrow. What a boring summer so far. I'm making it to a lot of dog shows so there's that. (Our dog did get an Owner Handler Best In Show last weekend though.)
  13. I missed this and am infinitely sorry for that. What a wonderful gesture and it's greatly appreciated.
  14. Boo. I do not approve of this whole thread.
  15. What an idiot. Asking $10,500 for a bike that is only worth $5,600 before it got totaled. How is that overweight thing supposed to stop with only one brake rotor? How is it supposed to go around a curve lowered so much. Dumbass seller should just go kill himself.
  16. Tonik was correct. He is an equal opportunity mocker. This is a rare issue that I can only find one other case of. I can't understand what happened. The bike has 19,992 easy miles on it, rode by an old man in his mid 50s only on the weekends.
  17. I waited two weeks before I took it to a repair shop for work. It will be there two weeks this Saturday without being worked on yet. I'm expecting it to be expensive, the engine needs pulled and the case split. Casper, didn't we discuss me becoming a supporting member at the epic ride?
  18. I'm not answering anything until my questions are answered.
  19. I'm just here to bitch and complain. Why can't I find NWS or Ranting and Raving? I want the software from two generations ago back. Plus I've only been here for seven years, can anyone tell me what I missed?
  20. Home. I had a very nice time today. It was nice to hang out after the ride talking to everyone. Damn bike broke on the ride home though. Lost third gear, I hope that is the extent of the damage. What a slow 100 mile ride home.
  21. My advice would be to avoid this group if TimTheAzn is part of it. He will ride like a hooligan, get the law called on you then leave just before they get to you, leaving you to deal with the fallout. You have been warned. I advise looking for a more mature riding group unless you desire the scrutiny of law enforcement. This is why I ride to the meeting spot alone because it's much less risky. The epic ride is usually much better organized and safer for us non hooligans.
  22. I come here to be the voice of reason and tranquility only to find so many changes that I'm not sure if I'm able to process them all. Apparently new standards are in place for moderator qualifications and just any old shit stirrer can meet them. Plus it appears that the site has turned into a gay bicyclist club. Does anyone know of a good motorcycle riding forum?
  23. Oh no you didn't. Tonik took care of that so no 102 for me, I have a clean slate. The OP may prove to be a douche but I have to laugh at some of the hypocrisies from people thinking that a different risk behavior is worthy of ridicule. I have rode with several people that have replied in less than legal circumstances. We are just as dangerous to others as the stunters are if not more so. I don't allow stunting on my group rides but I will go out with the stunters on their rides to follow and be entertained. It usually gets boring though and when I do go to watch I'm usually on the scooter because it's so slow. Most of them a very shitty back roads riders.
  24. You might have been able to find yourself on a demo bike for the warrantee work if you would have bought from there. That way you wouldn't have to bother your wife. No, this is not normal practice for them but I know people.
  25. Where did you buy your bike?
