  1. Thanks for the suggestion but adding to the route doesn't seem to be an option. Adding better roads is an option but we need to take something away when adding, along with not complicating the route. If everyone shows up we could have seven groups of ten riders (My idea of maximum group size.) that hopefully have all the group leaders, sweep riders with the route memorized. I would like the route to Google Map at about 3:30, with a gas stop close to the middle of the route and facilities large enough to handle a crowd.

  4. I don't usually ride the Hocking area, 555 is a road I know, and I’ve heard that 93 is decent but haven't been on it that far south. So sitting in my easy chair I picked one good road I knew about and tried to get a loop with decent roads and facilities to handle large numbers along with making the route easy to memorize. I'm positive there are better roads in the area but would mean a complicated route that would require people to lead with knowledge of them and I'm expecting that if the weather is good the crowd will be too large for local guys to handle. It's not my decision to make I'm just suggesting a starting point that I think will work. I'm not all that interested in riding four hours to do a 100 mile loop to turn around and ride four hours back home. That's why I'm suggesting a longer loop. The people that are camping and getting rooms should get some access to a longer loop as well.
  5. Shut your bitch mouth. You aren't going to make it because it will be too cold in the morning and in the evening unless you are nice to someone with a trailer to bring you down. No cruisers in my trailer.

  9. No one expected me to read the first post did they? Entirely too many words. 100 miles would be easy to organize because a gas stop wouldn't be needed but a lot of work for people to get to for little payoff. If you are making an effort to get there from the flatlands wouldn't you want to have more time riding the good roads? The only thing I do know is that the ride needs to start and end at the same location, no leaving people stranded out in the middle of nowhere.
  10. Not trying to single you out, more of just trying to get a feel for what this event's expectations are. I can help Nivin organize a group ride not so much a meet and greet. Is 160 miles too much for a group ride?
  11. I can't figure out how to allow time enough for people to get there, group ride, make it home let alone have a lunch stop. Do you know how long it takes to get service for seventy people? Something will have to give and the only thing that has time into it is the group ride. I'm thinking of about 160 miles for a ride and if a lunch break needs to be part of the event then the ride can be no longer than 100 miles if that. Eating is for a meet and greet not a ride. If a lunch break is what it takes to get maximum participation then so be it but that is a whole different set of logistics not needed in planning a state wide group ride. One or the other can be done but I doubt both and still expect state wide participation.
  12. Fuck all of you guys and your high mileage sport bikes. I do not check my mileage on tires anymore it's too depressing. I'm guessing about 1,500 for a rear running at 30psi. I was getting 1,800/2,100 per rear out of the 600 but this stupid 1K is a bug killing tire eating machine. And no I do not do great big smokey burnouts with them either or little ones. I also don't ever show cold shearing signs when I stop. In fact it's hard to tell the difference in tire smoothness from my chicken strips to the actually used part of the tire. I have wrecked every bike I have ridden with Dunlop tires. I have wrecked other tires as well but every time I'm on a Dunlop tire I wreck so none for me. I finished off last year with a Pure and liked it for the most part. I changed tire size from a 50 to a 55 and am still trying to get used to the gearing change it made a big difference on which gear I need to be in entering a corner plus I picked up 3MPH on my maximum speed.
  13. Are people expecting this to be a ride or a meet and greet with a parade? I'm guessing if people are planning to stay in the area then they would want a decent ride. People that don't want to stay in the area should have plenty of time to ride to and from if it's planned right and everything works out. Leave home at 7:00AM, arrive in Logan by 11:00AM, group ride from 11:30AM to 3:30PM, leave for home at 4:00PM and arrive back home by 8:00PM all of this within daylight hours.
  14. I am not going to read all of the thread at this point. Can someone tell me if the Hocking County Fairgrounds in Logan has a paved area large enough for 75 motorcycles and is it accessible?

  16. All things being equal size does make a difference, a good little guy can beat a big guy, a good little guy can't beat a good big guy, very seldom are all things equal. Strength isn't the measure of a good fighter. I am so old now that if I can't hurt you in two minutes it doesn't matter what size you are you can stomp my head in while I'm gasping for air.
  17. Sevierville is a great town. Back when I still drank I spent a few nights drinking in the area and always had a good time. It's hard to find a bad road down there except in Pigeon Forge the shoppers take getting to the sales very seriously and don't like obstacles in their way.

  19. That doesn't sound like a Knoxville hotel you must have been staying out of the city a bit. I bet if you went out onto the Cherahola you could have seen some snow to make you feel right at home.
  20. There are observation towers in Breaks Interstate Park with views similar to the picture I posted above from the Birch Knob Observation tower. Some nice trail loops in the park too, I'm mentioning this because the park is half an hour closer to Elkhorn city. The park is the "Grand Canyon of the South" and a wonderful area if you venture off the beaten path there are caves all over the place. http://www.breakspark.com/ Some pictures from the trail between Birch Knob and Breaks Park.
