What a terrible experience, glad you're able to write about it. The trike probably was safer that a bike in this situation. You were able to keep the wheels on the ground providing all the stopping power that was available instead of having to lay it down and sliding into the car much faster than you were going. Good for you to have the mindset to take care of your wife while you were hurting, just like it should be.

The right etiquette for them would be to get in single file or allow enough space for you to get between them. This is if they are not doing the speed limit or backing up all traffic. If they are at least maintaining the speed limit or recommended speeds then they are under no obligation to oblige your desire to go faster. Having said that as long as you are not pushing them out of your way pass at will. It might upset a few of them but if they were to come up to some grandma on her way to church taking her good old time you can bet they would pass her so why should they be treated special. I have met Goldwing groups, BMW groups, FJR groups, dual sport groups and sport bike groups on the back roads all of them had proper spacing between them to get by them safely; I have only had problems with the cruiser crowd. Not trying to make this about bashing cruisers because I have been on group rides with them and they rode well plus were good guys. I have owned one as well but they do turn into jerks once there is a crowd of them at least while riding. I say pass them as safely as you can, remembering that not everybody is comfortable with another bike in their close proximity. If they decide to make an issue by blocking and swerving return the favor.

You certainly don't need a 1K to have fun or go fast on the twisty roads and I wouldn't have one if I didn't buy it right but passing is a lot easier with one. Not much thought involved just dial up the needed throttle and go. I have had large cruiser groups try to keep people from passing them and it gets ugly for everyone. I didn't give them much of a chance to react and thought you might have paid for my getting by them uncontested.

Tpoppa, did the Harley gang give you any grief? The group was so big they had a chase vehicle; it was a convertible VW bug with big Harley Davidson stickers on the doors, kind of cute.

I can tell you that you are not smoking it out the exhaust. I will lose some on high rpm rides with the Honda while normal riding doesn't see any lose. More of a bypass issue than a burning one.

I didn't care for 376 in the direction we went Saturday and figured it would have been chaos if we had been at the pace we were at earlier in the day, we probably had 350 miles by then so the pace reflected the fatigue, at least it was for me, I'm still sore and tired. I was on a group ride a couple years back with nine people on 376 without incident and thought it was a good road but we were going south.

We were talking about the fast guy on the Triumph at our gas stop. Did you guys turn off? When I realized you were staying with us I kicked it up a notch because I couldn't tell if you were in control or not and didn't want to suck anyone in to riding over their head. If I would have recognized you I would have stayed at pace. Your bike looks really cool from behind.

If 255 is out for a closure and 555 is out from road conditions and a closure then most of what I wanted to get done is out so the only thing I want to get is 260 the rest of the route I don't care about. I sometimes run a parallel road to 83 from Lodi to the Lorain county line to get away from traffic and police scrutiny. Would Lodi be a good meeting spot for the folks that might come in on 71? What time is too early for the Jbot?

10 is good for me in Millersburg. What do we do at the end of 26 to head north if 555 is out? 60 works but if I remember correctly isn't the best that far south.

You leave too damn early, get off of that fucking military time. Have to dress for the climate change when you leave that early plus the roads are slippery from the dew. This time of year 8:30 is about my earliest start time which would mean a 10:00 leave time from Millersburg.

Easy fix to route I posted (Not saying it is "the" route.) 800 north to 26, will save a little bit of time. If we are returning to Millersburg an alternate route would probably be better for him to get home instead of trying to get home from Millersburg. Maybe from Zanesville get on 93 to 83/93 split off from each other there.

For me it's a route choice because I don't know the roads as well from Bolivar plus Millersburg is a 60 miles straight shot down 83 for me. I would still be leaving my place at 9:30 to get to Millersburg and gassed up by 11:00. I'm flexable on route and start time but the earliest I'm willing to leave my place is 8:30 to do a ride.

We had one of them go down on our scooter ride last year. I swapped scooters with him because he was hurt so he would have a fully functioning scooter. Even wrecked it was a fun scooter with motor to spare over my 250.
