  1. The earth is not flat. I don't think I saw any flat ground in 5 days in Tennessee. Duh.
  2. Nope. 85 and sunny. I went back and checked for dirt, sand, or oil. The rear was slipping on other roads, too.
  3. Maybe Dunlop changed something like @durk suggested? Without TC, the first big slip would have high sided me. After a few more times, I started making it slip intentionally, so I'd kinda know what to expect and how it would feel. On some roads they were ok, like the Dragon and the Skyway. They grip on the roads in Kentucky was especially bad. I had to keep my bike in Rain Mode for most of the trip. Love the BMW. Hate the Dunlops.
  4. If the road surface was rough they stuck ok-ish. If the surface was smooth I was sliding a lot. I've never had this with other tires. My TC light was on a lot.
  5. Dunlop Road Smart 3 tires are garbage. Just posted this review on Revzilla I installed a set of these on my BMW R1200R before a 5 day trip to Deal's Gap. I've gone through many sets of ST tires (Conti RA, Angel GT, PR 2 3 4, Metz Z6 Z8, etc), I decided to give the RS3 a try. I ran them at the manufacturers recommended PSI, just like every other tire. The Bad: First thing I noticed is that it doesn't take much lean angel to reach the edge of the rear tire. When you do it slips...thankfully I have traction control. The other ST tires I've used are capable of more lean angel. Dry traction for the rear tire is not acceptable for spirited riding. On corner exits with some lean angel, it's REALLY EASY to spin up the RS3. First time it happened the rear slid way out before TC engaged. After that I began to test the grip...On smoother road surfaces I could make make it spin in almost every 2nd or 3rd gear corner. I went back to check some corners to make sure there was no gravel or sand...there wasn't...just black marks from the tire spinning. I've never seen a tire that would lose grip so easily I kept lowering the PSI trying to find more grip. It helped a little but not enough. The Good: Wet traction is pretty good Would be a decent tire for commuting. It seems to be wearing OK The front tire was fine, it didn't slip like the rear tire. Verdict: I've already spoken to a Dunlop tire tech. After 2,500 miles (1 trip) these are going in the garbage before they wreck me.
  6. The people at the visitor office are super friendly. I hope this works for them because Lynch KY could use an influx of life. It used to be a busy coal town. I didn't have time to ride a loop around the area, only 160 which is just OK IMO. On 1 section most of the right hand (the up hill side) turns are blind-unmarked-decreasing radius. The road could really use some signage, those ones should be marked 10 or 15 mph. I like the area though. I saw 2 bears.

  10. I have never been a fan of Dunlops. Based on some really good reviews, I decided to give them another chance and just mounted a set of RS3's. After 500 miles, they are just meh. They are a little less confidence inspiring than the roached Metz Z8s they replaced
  11. RS2's seem to get decent reviews. Even for light track duty. I seem to recall reading that they could feel a bit mushy or vague, but should be just fine for street duty

  13. Paul, you and I agree on many things, some we do not. Even in the cases we do not, I tend to think than your opinions are intelligent and well thought. That's why I have these exchanges with you. That said, I agree with your statement except for this line "We are the racists." IMO "Racist" has become the most misused word in the English Language. It's thrown around way too frequently & for the Media and many Democrats it's become equivalent of "Aloha."
  14. I believe that police are too quick to use deadly force & the system is setup to allow them to not face consequences. I think that's bullshit, but I don't think race is the primary factor.   17. Agree to disagree. I think it's a police accountability issue caused by police unions. Try to reconcile this data against BLM's claim that "white supremacists" are rampantly killing blacks.   18. Yup I think congressional term limits might help to a degree, but I don't see it happening. Career politicians were never the intent. You were supposed to represent the area where you live, serve your term, then go home.
  19. I don't think it's semantics at all. I think trying to frame this as racism it causing a huge divide across the country. That divide is arguably has a much bigger impact than police brutality. Let's be honest, the media & democrats LOVE to call things racist. That shit needs to stop.
  20. If you are planning multiday 2 up trips at at a faster pace than the Voyager can manage then your choices get limited. The GW and the K1600 are going t have the best passenger accomodations, perhaps a used K1300. Your pillion probably wouldn't be liking an RT so much after day 2 unless she has built significant fortitude. I personally don't care to ride 2 up at a quick pace for multiple reasons. Something like the Voyager would probably be enough for my 2 up needs.
  21. As much as I like the new LC RT, a used 2009+ will do just as nicely for 2 up riding. And you can find them, well farkled, for just a little more than you are asking for your Duc.

    I only rode in KY that one time on the way back from the Gap. I forget your route, but the roads were twisty, in nice shape, and the traffic was light.
