  1. I have a Shorai and have been happy with it. It has no trouble starting my Duc even last winter when temps dropped down into the 30's. Now I did buy the cell balancing charger and also a clearwater voltage sentry for the bikes charging system but I lost 9lbs and an ugly battery box off the bike. How many other places on a modern motorcycle can you loose that kind of weight short of your own waistline.
  2. I would liked to have shot mine with regular .22LR but didn't want to in my basement. I looked up the specs for the pair of .22 cal rounds I fired into the helmet. The Aguila super colibri has roughly 11ftlbs of energy and the Polish .22 short with 845ftps comes in around 52ftlbs. Comparing that to a standard .22LR at 1200ftps, it will have around 130ftlbs of energy. I was honestly throwing some of the lowest power ammunition you can possibly buy at the helmet and it didn't go through.
  3. The super colibri rounds don't have any gunpowder in them, it's just the primer compound. There is very little smoke and smell. I usually only shoot 5-10 at a time and I am done so I have never bothered with vents. I also have the Co2 airpistol and the pump airgun I shoot down there. Obviously those don't require much for venting either. If you where to be shooting something with gunpowder, venting would be a good idea. I have shot the CCI CB shorts and also the standard velocity .22 shorts I used in the video before and they start to foul the air pretty quick, not recommended without venting.
  4. I feel maybe I should elaborate a little about this little experiment. I did this kinda because of the dumb comments that where made in the biker beating thread. I know that what I have shown here may make you feel justified in feeling that a helmet may protect you but please do not take this test in that kind of light. If you are trusting a motorcycle helmet to do anything above and beyond protecting you in a crash you will quickly find yourself on the wrong side of a coffin. I had honestly expected one of those three or even all three of those shots to penetrate the chin and side of that helmet. For the non gun owning people who may read this please understand that the airgun pellet and two bullets I fired into the side of that helmet are the absolute lowest power ammunition you can buy. I have that stuff because I practice pistol shooting in my basement and can shoot that ammo without hearing protection while indoors and a phonebook or 4-5 magazines are enough to stop the bullets. Anything that a concealed carry owner may have on them as a defensive weapon should easily punch right through the side of a helmet.
  5. Something that was brought up in another thread, will a helmet save you from a gunshot. Had an old helmet to try it with so figured I would give it a go. It's a 15 year old beat up Shoei RFR helmet so no great loss. First shot is from a .177 caliber Crossman powermaster 66 airgun, no idea on velocity but it got all 10 pumps. Didn't go through, I had really expected it would. Second shot was .22 cal, an Aguila super colibri at roughly 550fps from a 6" Ruger MKII. No penetration. Third shot was a standard velocity .22 short, roughly 900fps with no penetration but it did crack the fiberglass shell. That's about as much firepower as I can let loose in the basement. Gotta say the old fiberglass shell on this Shoei is tougher than I had expected but I think if I could have stepped it up to standard or hyper velocity .22 that even from a pistol I would have gotten penetration. Until I can, or somebody else can get to the range and put some larger rounds into a helmet I will still hold onto my belief that a motorcycle helmet is a for shit form of body armor.
  6. So it seems there was more than just this one video with the suv. This website claims 7 other videos shot from the same dude of the same group, same day. It shows them running redlights, driving on sidewalks and damaging at least one other vehicle while terrorizing the public. They even have video of several of the idiots riding 4-wheelers on the highway. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/the-footage-that-the-nyc-bikers-didnt-want-you-to-see-1435594427/1436603736/@orlove
  7. Your math is all kind of flawed. Pornstar math runs like this. 1+1-rubber=3+child support times std.
  8. Somebody had a few to many tacos and beers and farted into a megaphone?
  9. I played all the time at a bar before I moved out here to Ohio. Since then not so much. I picked up this monster a few years ago but it has been hiding under it's cover. It is surrounded by construction materials from all the home rebuild projects I have going on. And you always need a matching cue rack.
  10. Hopefully I got my Automag II fixed today. It had the very unfriendly habit of discharging when you dropped the slide on the first round in a new mag. It did it to me 3 times in one day at the range and I was able to duplicate it at home when the gun wasn't loaded about 25% of the time. The hammer was jumping the sear and following the slide forward. Good thing for proper training and good range practices the worst that happened was a few missed targets. It got a new hammer strut, sear spring, disconnector spring and trigger spring. Along with that I gave it a very light stoning on the sear to make the edge nice and crisp again. It was showing signs of wear on the edge and wasn't as crisp as I like to see them. Hopefully I can get out to the range next week and give it a go with some ammo but so far tonight I have dropped the slide close to 50 times on an empty gun and the problem hasn't returned. Oh and for the guys that have never heard of these things. All stainless, semi-auto 9 shot .22magnum with a 6 inch barrel. Fun little plinking pistol with one the the strangest muzzle reports you will ever hear.

    Gun Shop

I am beginning to hate the Cabela's they built here. It's a sham compared to the one I used to shop at. Gander mountain has a better gun selection. They built a 80k sqft overpriced yuppy mall for the people in Polaris. The one out in Hamburg PA that I was used to shopping at was 250,000 sqft of useful store space. The virtual tour will leave you wanting better from the store they gave us. http://www.cabelas.com/custserv/custserv_popup.jsp?pageName=VirtualTourHamburgPA
  12. If you were anywhere near Columbus I would be all over that. My dad has that exact same saw and it's a nice piece of equipment.
  13. Uh, your math is bad. M-14 designed in 1954 so it's only a 59 year old design. Why not look into the FN-FAL as an option also. Fantastic .308 caliber battle rifle, lots of history with multiple military's. Not sure if the optics choices have gotten better over the years but when I had mine there was nothing inside 300yards that I couldn't hit with the standard iron sights. It could have used a better stock but dammed those friggin politicians and their black rifle BS. The M1 Garand can be had in .308 also if you wanted another option. And before anybody complains that you can't put good optics on a garand. Yes you can, Eotechs work very nice on the old M1.
  14. 2006 Triumph Sprint ST, does not have any factory helmet lock. Sidebags are too small for a helmet. 2007 Ducati Sportclassic, has a helmet lock but lets the helmet rest on the exhaust header wrecking said helmet. You need to look harder. Many manufacturers do not include built in helmet locks. Or if they do they are completely useless. I carry a cable pistol lock with me so I can lock my helmet up. They are around $6 and they make perfect helmet and gear locks. http://www.manventureoutpost.com/products/MasterLock-Cable-Gun-Lock-Keyed-Different-99DSPT.html?google=1
  15. You guys make these things sound like they are gonna kill you and if not that they take forever to clean. There are a couple very simple steps to prevent these guns being dangerous. First, use a greased fiber wad between the powder and the ball. I use the Cabela's pre-lubed wads. Second, use a small amount of lube to seal the mouth of each cylinder, I use Thompson bore butter. These first two steps do two things for you. It fully prevents the chance of a chain fire and it also prevents lead buildup in the barrel. You can clean the barrel at the range with nothing more than a jag and patch that is damp with water. Using the bore lube allows each shot to clear the fouling from the previous round and it prevents the bore from getting loaded up with crap. Most places you read will say that the use of the lubed fiber wad will prevent you from needing to use the grease over the ball to prevent chainfires. I still use the grease over ball to help with barrel fouling as I noticed on my gun at least that it got harder to clean if I didn't. Last step is cleaning and I am sorry guys but if you have a wife this may be a problem, you need to use the kitchen sink. Now we all know that the kitchen is her domain but it's time to grow a pair, force your way in and do some dish's, oh sorry, gun cleaning. Fill the sink with straight hot water and add enough of you favorite dish soap to make it sudsy, I use palmolive original. That's all you need to clean a blackpowder pistol, if you used the lubes I mentioned above the soapy water will get the entire gun clean. Anything that can be broken down that there is no wood on it goes straight in the sink for a soak and then scrubbing with patches and the bore brushes proceeds. You can even wash out the dirt from the patches and keep using them. I may only go through 2-3 patches to clean the entire gun. The barrel should come clean in only maybe 4-5 passes with the bore brush and patched jag. Mine cleans up faster than my metallic cartridge guns. The wood parts get wiped down gently with a damp towel and then the entire gun gets dried off and sprayed down with BreakFree CLP to drive the moisture out of any hiding places and protect against rust before it is put away. You should be able to have the gun spotless clean and ready for storage in under 20 minutes once you have done it a few times.
  16. Most blackpowder handguns are a little weak for hunting. By the time the critter is big enough to hit with one you are a little under powered and need to be rather close to get a good hit. I have one of the larger Colt/Walker replicas. It will throw a 140 gr round ball at 950 fps, muzzle energy at 281ftlbs. 40S&W is at roughly 366 ftlbs with 45acp being another 20 ftlbs higher. Your gun will probably not get a round ball up to the speed mine will but it would make for an interesting test to see how it does. I have been using regular oldschool Goex FFFG blackpowder in mine. Pyrodex works fine enough but half the fun is the big cloud of smoke and you lose a lot of that with the replacement powders.
  17. Back in the good old days, 1000 rounds of .22 was only a 3 or 4 week supply. That is no were near hording level in my book.

    California

I would have told you to go down to the san andreas fault and jump up and down on it a few times to see if we could break off the state. Ok, so maybe thats a little bit wrong.
  19. Bet it's about as slow and nimble as a dead cow also.
  20. Dude, I hate you right now. I got no cash and you put this up for sale. Dangit. Have a good time up at Perry, that stuff will fly out of your hands up there. GLWS.
  21. I use the Torque app on my phone. Lets me do wireless bluetooth to the OBD2 port and then allows you to overlay gauges over what the phones camera is recording. It can also overlay a google maps image of your location so you can see where you are on top of the other items.
  22. Drool good minions.
  23. Your system is very close to what I just built a few months ago. Some of the odd and more rare hardware came from my last build. I7 3770k gigabyte z77x-ud4H Corsair Dominator 8GB DDR3 2000 Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme heatsink 2x Asus GTX-660 in SLI Ultra x4, 1200watt power supply 256GB OCZ Vertez 4 ssd 3x Samsung 1TB drives One LG Blueray player and a Sony DVD burner Zalman Fatality FC-ZE1 case. Good luck building stuff, you have a nice list of hardware in that rig that should last anybody quite a few years if they wanted one for themselves.
  24. If he loses he should sue the VP to get his court costs and life back in order. Hold our esteemed legislation to the fire when they blatently tell the public to do something illegal.
  25. Spill the beans, what size little plastic button is that? The one covering the center bolt, my LSL sliders need those.
