  1. Huh? Intake valve? This is a 90's chain saw, there is no 4-stroke here. Better fix that to be a reed valve.
  2. Most likely needs the Carb rebuilt. There is a small checkvalve that prevents fuel from leaking past the Carb when the engine is off. It's most likely leaking and flooding the engine when turned off. Does the primer bulb go dry when the engine is off? That is usually the easiest external sign of the internal leak.
  3. Yup, it's a No4 series gun. You can always tell due to the barrel extending out past the end of the wood by so much. The older No1Mk3 guns the barrel is flush with the front of the rifle. Here are the pictures of mine. In order as the No1Mk3, P-1914, No5 Jungle carbine. The No5 Jungle carbine in the last picture is an offshoot of your buddies gun. It shares the same reciever, bolt and sights but was then cut down by the factory to be a lightweight option for soldiers
  4. '65 Dodge Coronet with a 440 badge, drool.
  5. I have 3 enfields at this point, a No1MK3 a Pattern 1914 and a No5 Jungle carbine. A 1943 manufacture date could place your buddies gun most likely as a No4 model. As for markings, google "lee enfield markings" lots of great reference websites are available. My No1Mk3 is dated at 1911 for the manufature date and has more stampings and marking than you can shake a stick at. Those Brits sure know how to record everything possible on the barrels and recievers of these guns. As for ammo availablility, sorry I have no clue where a good place is to get it these days. I have been making my own for almost 2 years now and have close to 1k rounds as of the last count. The two big brands back in the day were the Prvi-Partizan stuff and the Sellier & Bellot. Both companies load really nice shooting ammo in .303 Brit, the brass on the S&B is reloadable but never tried the prvi. If you see it floating around, avoid the milsurp ammo made in pakistan. It will have a POF headstamp. The box of that stuff I purchased was absolute trash. Really bad hangfires and even a squib load that stuck a bullet 3 inches down the bore in my gun. Ruined the range day for me and took stinking 2 hours to get back out of the barrel. If you handload for the .303 brit be aware that the bullet diameter is actually .311-.312, A standard .308 caliber bullet will not be acurate in these guns.
  6. I haven't had water problems in the basement yet. Sump is running smoothly still. I did lose a tree due to the wind with todays storm. Roughly 18 foot tall willow tree in my front yard snapped off at the roots.
  7. Please review this thread if you would like to own the girls version for yourself. http://ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/102019-lol-no-title-say-what/
  8. Thats cool, I'll get with you up at Mid-O and we can figure out a day I can pick it up from you.
  9. Yep, knew that. Is it assembled? If so I just won't have room in my truck for the safe with all the other stuff thats going up there with me. I can give you the cash up at Mid-O no problem. I had figured we could make plans for one day next week over at the shop or we could figure something out that I can pick it up.
  10. If you can put my name on one of them until next week. Between work and Mid-Ohio this weekend I won't have a free day till the middle of next week to get you cash. I have been looking for a smaller safe like that just to put ammo in. Heck, these days my ammo stash is almost worth more than the guns.
  11. I have the michelin pr3's on my triumph. I don't fear rain, paint stripes are still on the avoidance list.
  12. Just don't let them sit there all the time. You would be amazed at how fast spiders want to make a helmet it's home.
  13. Three of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The end is nearly upon us.
  14. First bike was a 1972 CZ175 trail. Not mine, but the thing I had was exactly the same; It tried and almost succeeded at killing me. I don't care to ever ride one again. I then had a myriad of other machines. 1977 Honda CB550 Supersport 1975 Honda CB750 Supersport 1982 Yamaha YZ125 1985 Honda VF1000F Interceptor. The only two left in the stable are my, 2006 Triumph Sprint ST 2007 Ducati Sportclassic.
  15. My dad has that exact same saw. He runs his on 110V so it should be no problem to convert it over. It's a good piece of kit and should outlast anything modern by 2-3 lifetimes.
  16. According to this guy the speed limit on the Dragon is 65mph, not the posted 30mph. He fought his ticket and won, not a recommended strategy but it makes for an interesting read if your bored. http://dragonaters.blogspot.com/2011/03/court-tdot-say-dragon-speed-limit-is-65.html
  17. Ohhhh, easy there. I wax the crap out of my Duc and know how to ride it. I've got over 21,000 miles on my sportclassic, It's been ridden to Sparta NC, Lynchburg VA and just about everywhere you can go in Ohio. I have done 2 track days on it, one at Mid-Ohio and one at Barber. The amazing part of the entire thing is I have gotten 2 awards for my bike also. One at Barber for best sounding 2V Duc and the other out at Indy moto-gp last year for a Judges choice award. It also made the centerfold photospread in the Cafe-Racer magazine for Mid-Ohio vintage days last year. Come on man, You know there is a clean freek like that in you somewhere.
  18. From my latest trip last week. From C-Bus out to Eureka Springs Arkansas and back, 2100 miles in 6 days on my 2006 Sprint ST 1050. And yes I had gloves. I took them off so I could hand over the camera and be able to get it back in my tank bag after the picture was taken.
  19. The plates on Woot aren't bad for backyard plinker targets but I ended up getting this monster from Widners; http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8800&dir=1020|1022 I have hit it with all kinds of big stuff and it doesn't leave any marks on it. 5.56 steel tip leaves a very slight dimple were the core impacts but it would take thousands of hits from that stuff before it would do any real damage. Here's a pic after the last range session. It's been hit with M2 ball, 7.62x39, 5.56 steel tip and .303brit.
  20. So it's not brown and the price goes up $300 as soon as there is interest. Just messin with ya. GLWS.
  21. It's been a long time since I shot highpower service rifle, maybe 8-10 years at this point. I still have my match garand but it hasn't been out of the safe for almost 3 years now for anything other than regular cleaning and re-lubing. The second Garand I picked up to shoot for practice is the gun that gets all the range time these days. With good handloads I can hold 1MOA groups with the match gun. It's a Barnett medium weight match barrel with a target crown and a fairly tight chamber, New old stock gas system and all new rear sight parts. Hand fitted stock, trigger smoothed out, op rod was built up and then custom fitted to the reciever so basically everything that can be done to a Garand was done to it. I can shoot it for service rifle classes but due to the non-spec barrel dimensions I can't shoot the John C. Garand matches.
  22. That's AMA superbike weekend. Sorry, already have plans for all the partying and alcohol I can manage in a three day stretch.
  23. They sound pretty similar to the first gen bikes. Even with all the problems it had, I wish I still had my '85 interceptor 1000. Hense my user name still.
  24. Sorry I have off on the 17th. It is also the day after I get back from my 6 day motorcycle trip to Arkansas and back. The 17th will be the locally recognized holiday of "holding down the sofa day".
  25. Check out this link. Shows the history of your model rifle and even has a picture very similar to yours at the bottom of the page. http://www.il91.it/fucile65eng.html
