Because you need to run the engine to warm up the old oil so it will drain easier, then you run the engine after you put new oil in to fill the oil filter and circulate the oil to the head so you get a more accurate reading of how much is in the engine.

I just hope I have my plastics back from the body shop by then, they keep dicking around saying they have insurance work to do before they do my bike. In the mean time, I can't change my oil or get the tires changed because I have no gas tank

I actually just broke mine I think, has black bars over the whole screen. Gonna try new batteries but they don't work I may be interested.

If the weather is nice and the bike is back together I was going to ride to imprez's house in middleburg heights to get tires put on so I may be down for a group ride.

This is not meant for riding in a strait line, it is meant for turning. You should always be looking around but when turning you should turn your entire head and look through the turn.

I almost never use my brakes to slow down unless I am coming to a complete stop but I do tap the brake a few times just enough to engage the brake light and flash the person behind me. If you dont have LED lights, make sure you hold it long enough to illuminate the bulb, tapping too fast may not even engage the light.

Imprezz, where are you located and how much do you charge to mount and balance tire with wheels on the bike? I need to get this done but have been quoted $120 by local shops, thought that was high though.

They have been under a porch for about 9 months, inside the house previously.

Just checked date codes and didn't realize how old some of these are. The slicks are from 2000, the front Power is from 07 and the back power is from 05. Make me an offer. I will probably just end up throwing the slicks out since they are so old but the front power may interest someone.

Nice bike! Definitely had fun with my 250, a word of advice on that bike though is watch out for semi trucks, not because they will hit you(well that too) but because the draft they create will blow that bike clear off the road if you're not expecting it. My first ride was to the grocery store, I had bought my ninja 250 and had never rode before so I spent the morning riding around a parking lot and down the street by my house getting a feel for the controls and turning. That afternoon I rode 5 miles into town and froze my butt off in the process! Mind you this was in February since I just bought the bike in January and was itching to ride. I had no idea wind chill could be that bad because at most I probably did 20 or 30 mph in the parking lot and down the street. Even though I was freezing, I fell in love with riding! This was actually only last year.

I just use 20w50 Mobil 1 car oil, as long as it does not say friction reducer or anything it will work.

What kind of battery does it take? A watch battery or something? And does anyone have any experience with regular remote activated hard wired alarms on their bike?

Well this is not really a car alarm type of sound, it is more of a loud, high pitched annoying sound am I right? As well as it keeps the bike from being rolled away, granted this is not a guarantee someone wont just pick it up and load it into a trailer or something but it will deter someone from casually walking away with the bike.

Can you hear this from inside your apartment? Because I am in the same boat where I have to leave my bike outside and after someone backed into it a few weeks ago, I am kinda paranoid.

I hear ya! I didn't realize how expensive this hobby is until this month, and I don't even race lol. Pretty much spent an entire months pay on the bike getting it ready for this year.

I'm friendly when people talk to me, I just get irritated at ignorant people who act like they know about bikes and but are actually shitting out their mouths and don't even know it.

This is exactly what I was trying to say, except I forgot all the technical terms I learned in my engineering classes lol. It would be like putting a tank tread on your car and expecting the car to go 5 times faster because the tread has 5 times the circumference of the tire but you would actually go slower since the radius is smaller and you are practically riding on the rim.

I get questions about mine all the time too. I think its funny how some people act like they know everything about bikes but then ask, "Is that a CBR/GSXR?" because those are the only 2 bikes on the planet they know. Had a cop pull a fast one on me once when I got pulled over, he comes walking up after taking my information and sitting in his car for 3 minutes and says, "I used to ride myself so I know how easy it is to let speed get away from ya, so what kind of bike is this anyway?". Thinking he was just curious I tell him it's a Triumph, he then pulls out his clip board, writes Triumph on the ticket he was hiding and sends me on my way lol.
