  1. You get it repaired? Hope it didn't mess up your day at Nelson. Try to make it out Saturday if you can! I wish I had the cameras on for my last session on Sunday when I tailed you the last few laps; you were putting down a good pace and moving around on the bike a lot more than I've seen from you before.
  2. What's up with the exhaust? Thought it was working fine at pirc minus hitting the lower fairing?
  3. I have to recommend using a bluetooth communicator (Sena SMH5 in my case) along with earplugs. I used earbuds a few times and they were a pain with the helmet....literally. Also consider that you may be turning the volume of the earbuds up to overpower the backround noise....doing more damage than the wind noise itself.
  4. Or you could both come and you could take care of those strips yourself. Either way, I hope that bike is at the track so I can rub up against it when no one is looking!

    Wtt: Vfr800

If you do the track day at PIRC this ad is going to change to "WTT VFR for track bike" I'd consider offering my street bike(with a few more repairs) for this, but I need a spare bike considering how much I've been going down lately.
  6. I'd say just ride it and toss any shit you want at the track in my car or throw on those saddlebags you had at the gap. Saves the trouble of loading and unloading the bike twice. Just need a roll of painters tape at the track to take care of the lenses, mirrors and all that good stuff. I'll have a ramp if you do want to truck it over. Craig made a good point, if you are in novice you wont even have to change coolant.
  7. Excuses excuses.....$35 to rent leathers....or put that toward buying a set, because you and I both know you will be back. If you want, I'll lend a hand changing your coolant and prepping the bike the Friday before the trackday. You are pretty much on the way to the track for me. Would you ride over or do you have a truck/trailer?
  8. Ron was talking about possibly going Friday as well. Barring anything unforeseen, I'll be arriving Friday.
  9. This is way too far down the page! Anyone planning on arriving Friday night and staying at the track?
  10. Vfr's will move along pretty damn well, if you want something aggressive keep the revs higher. This is a gsxr 600 following a vfr. Jester had a cam showing his tach and I was amazed at how low he kept the rpm. Some say it is more fun to ride a slow bike fast.
  11. Thanks Jeff. All said and done, I still had fun and it was a positive day; just really regret not having the cameras rolling to catch the accident and all the areas I could have improved. Screwed around syncing some video of my front and rear cameras at Mid-Ohio from earlier this month, turned out pretty well. I'll probably run those two views for the upcoming days at PIRC; maybe flipping the rear around to critique my body positioning for a session as well.
  12. Well, after 5 track/race days the "minty" fairings have a few customization thanks to PIRC asphalt going to need a new windscreen as well. Unfortunately I didn't have the cameras rolling because I was being a bit lazy. I said right before the session started that I should put them on "just in case". I was slowly picking up pace with rains in the semi-wet when the rear completely let loose accelerating toward the second apex of the carousel. The only explanation I can come up with is too much throttle and the tires not having enough traction...though I was 3 or 4 laps into the session and the tires should have been at their best. It felt exactly like my lowside from last year at PIRC on the entrance ramp where I lost the rear; except going a lot faster. Bike is fine and I'm doing well. Took a pretty good tumble rolling twice and smashing my right wrist sometime in the action. It's bruised, swelled and difficult to move or doing anything with. I was being stupid trying to protect my helmet from hitting; if I would have just flattened out I would have slid and not have been hurt at all. For the remaining sessions with the rains I was extremely conservative, then after lunch it dried up and I switched the rear to a slick and left the rain on the front. What a difference. I should have changed both, but I was in a rush and did't want to change it again to put a new slick on.....unfortunately that decision led to a nearly smoked front. It actually handled half sessions fine, but after 2 warm up laps and 6-7 at my comfort level I could feel the front go away as it overheated. All in all, I'll chock it up as a good day, learned a lot with the new gearing and definitely turned some faster laps than what I was doing last year. Looking forward to the 29th and 30th to get back out there with MotoSeries.
  13. Well, I'm sure telling everyone that it is worth $23k and that they can afford another one is going to help their cause.
  14. ^opening up your shoulders into the turn naturally drops your whole upper body down....try it with the gopro on the tail and you will be surprised Another thing that helps enforce getting the head/upper body over: Remember that you should be able to see the outside of your front fairing....so if you have a sticker where the mirror would be mounted, you should be able to read it. I still ride crossed up a lot(riding a fast pace then hitting traffic really screws me up), but those two things have helped me with upper body positioning.
  15. Glad I could help get you in some proper gear, but you just made me sick with that damn picture.
  16. Tried to send you a PM, but your box must be full? I'm interested in the transponder.
  17. It would be nice to have the tool to help others out....I'll probably pick one up when I get another bike that requires a different size.
  18. I cost justified my first trackday by comparing it to a ticket, but really what does it a few hundred really matter compared to an accident and your health? Going down at the gap didn't really phase me, but thinking back my last run through there was asanine considering the possible consequences and commute time for medical support. I'll continue to ride the streets but hopefully I'll be smart enough to leave a margin for error/hazard.
  19. Think it is 165 in up to a week in advance and 190 late. You will love it, and riding the track is fun too.
  20. damnit, I saw the title and was going to post that video

Welcome! I hope you enjoy 6-10hr rides to get 4-8hrs worth of enjoyment.
  22. Sound good Ron, I'll take the motor's weight in quarters nickles and dimes....should be about even. Jinu, 724-934-4269 is their number, it is $150 to sign up in advance and $160 the day of at the track. They take CC's over the phone as well. I called to see how it is filling up...service guy said he didn't foresee it maxing out so I'm waiting a couple more days for a clearer picture of the weather. You guys signing up for advance? Think I may start in intermediate then bump up if all goes well.
  23. I started wearing compression shorts and it made a world of difference.
