If you are going to pay off your mortgage as quickly as possible and not have at least 6 months hh income in liquid assets on hand, open a HELOC. You don't have to use it but it's there something big happens. If you wait to open it when you really need it, it will probably be too late. i personally would save the extra money rather than pay down the mortgage if you don't have at least 6 months income on hand. You paint yourself into a corner without the HELOC to fall back on and the interest on the loan is tax deductible.

I put everything on my cc and pay it off every month. My wife does the same and since she runs A LOT of purchases through her cc for her business she rakes in the points. We've taken vacations on points redemption alone. i wasn't always so good though. In my younger days I carried a lot of balances and almost dug myself a big hole. Anyone who says you should carry some balances to help your credit score is wrong. I have no cc balances, just mortgages (we own a few properties) and car leases. When I just leased my new car my credit score came back at 857.

Is that a love offering?

About 12 years ago, my wife was learning to ride. Bought a new Suzuki Intruder 800, took the MSF class and her and I would ride to a local parking lot where she could sharpen her skills. After many hours and a few hundred miles on the bike we decided to take a scenic ride past a local park. It has a somewhat windy road and relatively low speed limits. We were riding along fine and I was ahead of her maybe 7 or 8 car lengths. We were doing 25-30mph. I took a relatively sharp curve and proceeded ahead where I passed an oncoming car, as I crested a hill and tried to watch her in the mirror as I had a bad feeling but lost sight of her as I went down the hill. Then I swear I heard a loud crunch (with the noise of the bike, wind, and distance, it was probably in my head). I instantly let off the gas and slowed, watching to see if she came over the hill. She didn't and my heart sunk. I quickly went back to find her lying in the road, slightly moving and her bike lying in pieces next to her. The car had hit a very large tree on the side of the road. She was fully geared up and I knelt beside her as told her not to move. I didn't remove her helmet. I asked her where she was feeling pain and she said it really hurt to move her legs so I told her to lay still. I thought she may have broken one or more of her legs. I quickly checked with the drive who was OK. Apparently she target fixated on the car and headed right for it. The driver swerved to miss her but she caught the front corner of the car. This is how he ended up into the tree. Police, etc were called and while we waited I attempted to call our insurance company. I quickly lost patience with them as they proceeded to ask me stupid questions that they should already know like my address so I told them I'd call back (this was Progressive who was very good to deal with on the claims/medical expenses). She was taken to the University of Cincinnati hospital where they found she had an open book pelvic fracture (basically snapper her pelvis in half). Luckily, one of the nation's top pelvic injury doctor happens to be at UC and took care of her. He told me she was very luckily as a lot of people with this injury die because the sharp bone breaks can sever the arteries that run through the pelvis and they die from internal bleeding. At this point, I felt like an ass for being on the phone with the phone company rather than staying with her on the ground we she may have been dying. Long story short, she was really otherwise unscathed because she was fully geared up and was only going about 20-25mph at the time. Even so, her helmet was destroyed...the chin bar and side of the helmet were gouged heavily and the face shield had been torn off. Had she not been wearing a helmet, it would've been much, much worse. She also has a puncture wound on her arm where a piece of metal poked through the jacket just outside of the armor but that was very minor. No road rash or anything. It was a long recovery which included time at a rehab facility, wheelchair and cane use. She's 100% recovered though she still has some lingering aches etc like anyone who has had bone injuries. She really has no desire to ride (except as a passenger) anymore but she does actually think she would like something like a Can-Am.

Reports are he OD'd about a week ago and his plane had to make an emergency landing for him to be treated/revived. Publicist said it was the flu. smh

Wow, I was shocked to hear this! http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2016/04/21/pop-superstar-prince-dies-57/?intcmp=hpbt1 While he was a strange one...I always respected him because he wrote a lot (if not all) of his music and the man could play a guitar very well.

Interesting read for those counting calories...somewhat disheartening http://www.precisionnutrition.com/problem-with-calorie-counting-calories-in

I couldn't get through it all...idiotic and probably made by a one of the many religious groups that seek to keep women subservient and docile. I guess we may see soon enough if Monica Lewinski's boyfriend's wife gets elected.

Good deal...almost had the wife talked into it since at some point she wants me to get a Wing or similar so we can make some 2-up road trips. I live right down the street from Cadre Cycle too - maybe 2 miles. We just really don't have the room for a big bike right now. GLWS

Yeah, people are buying gadgets and fluff rather than saving for retirement. I know a lot of people who have virtually nothing saved for retirement and aren't actively contributing anything to a retirement account. It's going to be pretty bad in the next 20-30 years. I've been pretty lucky in that the firm that I work for gives a significant 401k match and I have been max funding since the market downturn in 2008. I understand that when you are starving it's hard to save for the future. When I was in my early to mid 20's I barely saved anything and was one car breakdown away from financial ruin but managed to literally work my way out of it. As usual, knowing what I know now, I'd do things differently. It takes a lot less savings if you start when you are young compared to trying to catch up when you are older. Compounding growth is a wonderful thing.

I thought this was interesting. Those making over $45K in Cbus should be living "comfortably" (Cleveland is $42.5). http://www.gobankingrates.com/personal-finance/much-money-need-live-comfortably-biggest-cities/

Yeah, kids can kill a lot of dreams and hobbies. I had my one early, which wasn't easy being young but definitely freed up my time and $ for later in life. In fact, in August I'm going to be a grandfather (don't think I spilled that on here before). I have a friend at work who used to ride a VFR, sold it when he had his third and really wants one again but the wife is all

We all know which Tonik will win out

I think anyone that does agree to do these going forward as an ongoing adhoc service/business would be wise to set production parameters - i.e. will only produce once a quarter on x day of the quarter. This way A) they don't have to try to keep up with orders coming in randomly B) they can produce them in larger batches and therefore more cost effectively C) there is an expectation up front on when they will be produced and distributed.
-
Am I the only one that gets asked this? It has to be the 4th or 5th time at least. @Tonik or @2talltim may have been standing there when the guy asked me in front of the Microtel in Robbinsville.

For the record, that was totally tongue in cheek...
