I've wanted an adventure bike for a while. I've ridden many gravel roads on the Goldwings, Connie, dirt bikes, and sport bikes. I came across a leftover 23 Husky, so I finally pulled the trigger:
SR16 through WV, Burkes Garden, Marion VA, Smokies, Franklin NC, Blood Mountain, and anywhere else that my daughter can think of. We will be watching the weather and adjusting accordingly.
My daughter and I will be riding around down south during the last week of March. We're leaving on the morning of 3/26. We need to be back on Saturday night (3/30). Let me know if you want to meet up. We'll be 2 up on a Goldwing.
Added turn signals, horn, and brake lights to the TE300, to make it street legal.
Sent the new Goldwing seat to Russell Cycle products for the Day Long modification. Hopefully, it will be back in time for a trip to Smokies at the end of March.
How fast do you guys run on the dirt bikes? I've got a street legal kit on order for my TE300, but I don't like running much more than 50mph on my current gummy knobbies.
I can see riding the new Wing solo. It is definitely a lot sportier than the old one. I still have my Connie, so I can still ride at a decent sport bike pace when I'm in the mood. I'd definitely check out those 2023s that Tonik mentioned.
I'm getting older. These new Wings are great, and they are significantly more sporty than the older Wings. One of my daughters and I were riding it in the rain up to Coshocton for lunch on Tuesday. Thank God it was dry on the way home, so we could try out sport mode. Her quote: "this bike is going to be so much fun in the mountains. I can't wait!".
I have found my long term replacement for the Connie.
The photo was my KTM that I sold, and it was a 4 stroke. I'm waiting on the dealer to get my 2 stroke Husky. It should delivered in the next couple of weeks.
