I agree with @jacobhawkins thoughts on open invite but I would suggest that you have ridden at least once with one of the guys that have already posted in the thread. I see the potential for Mach retard for this group and my guess is at least at 1 point it will be at those speeds. Not saying I'm the fastest guy just think it would be best if you know what you're getting yourself into if you show up for this ride.

Made my way through SEO on it. I took a guy that is local to me on the trip. About 3 hrs into the trip he laid his bike down. I was leading and I felt terrible. I gave him the ride your ride speech and all but felt bad that he went down. Thankfully the only thing that really got damaged was his right mirror. He banged his knee but seemed fine. I give him credit he wanted to finish the trip even after I offered to just to just call it a day and head home. It took us 12 hrs to ride what I would probably finish in 10 hours, but he was understandably a little gun shy. All things considered it was still a good day.

Let's meet in New Concord at 10-10:30. I figured we would pretty much take the route we did last year. I had a blast. 83-78-377-555-676-7-26-260-7-800-26-537?-260 from there I will probably run 145 back north toward home for me. Unless you want to mix it up from that @jacobhawkins. We could run 800 up to 255-7-536. Btw you kill me with the weeeee.

Ohio Riders Unofficial Mid-Ohio Track Day - August 21, 2017durk replied to TimTheAzn's topic in Track is Crack Don't think they require them for novice. I know I didn't have one and was never asked about it.

Ohio Riders Unofficial Mid-Ohio Track Day - August 21, 2017durk replied to TimTheAzn's topic in Track is Crack Derek your coach will take good care of you. I went there last week solo and had a great time. The first time on the track they have you ride far left and pit in. Then they take you far right and on the 3rd lap they show you race line. My coach was a cool guy and after mentioning I found myself wanting to go faster, he definitely picked up the pace on the 2nd session.

I typically try to blast by these folks and keep railing. Most are not willing to run the pace I will especially if it gets twisty. There have been a couple times when this was modified. Following a member here that was concerned about a Cadillac being an off duty cop. My response was we already broke the law so let's just keep going is my thought. I passed an Explorer once with my daughter and the guy was tailgating at near 75-80 mph and I didn't want to push it more than that with her on board. Thankfully he came to his senses and backed off after a mile or so.

Jim I was not going to say anything but since 2 people have now mentioned it. I rode with a guy on a 2015 S1000RR at Mid O and it was a sweet looking bike. He had nothing but praise for the bike.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to police the road? We pay people to do that job. If I can pass you without you having to change anything about the way you are driving (brake, swerve, etc) why does it bother you?
-
She may have not known her right from left. It's amazing to me how many folks don't know that. Glad everyone made it out unharmed.

I did not clean the factory grease off. I never have for a new chain just ran it out of the box. Sure I've had that grease splatter on the lower fairing, but this was not that. It was internal grease. It kept reoccurring even after being cleaned and waxed. Looked like big slimy balls of snot on the lower fairing. I just kept lubing the crap out of it. I ended up selling the bike shortly after replacing the chain.
-
I purchased a JT chain from Rocky Mountain for my 600rr since the DID kit I purchased prior came with JT sprockets. After the 1st ride I was finding O-ring grease on my lower fairing. I decided then I'd stick to DID chains. JT seems to make decent sprockets but he sucks at making chains as far as I'm concerned.

Swapped the Q3s out for the Pilot Roads and with that the bike is now back to street form for me.

Why is it that one one part of a job goes easy the rest of it becomes the biggest pain in the butt? I went to swap out tires today. I removed the front tire and replaced it in seconds. I was finished with that in record time for me and I had a feeling that meant something not good was about to happen. Then I could not get the bead to set for anything and as I was trying to get it to seat my air compressor died. I'm talking shrapnel including bearings and everything laying on the floor. Grant it the air compressor is like 15 years old. After going and purchasing a new air compressor and losing some arm hair to the fire installation of that front tire I got everything done.

@ludwb675 I enjoyed it. During my 1st session I found myself wanting to go faster. There were only 3 of us in my group in novice and 2 of us mentioned to our CR we felt we could definitely handle a faster pace easily. The next time out the CR picked up the pace and we caught up with the group that left before us. Definitely more enjoyable. In the 3rd session the 3rd guy in our group who was over thinking everything imo (made me think of some folks that post on OR) went down basically right in front of me. He got off in the grass. In the 4th and final session of the day I felt I was starting to improve on sections of the track. I really was enjoying winding through the final 2 turns before the front straightaway. All in all I had a good day. I plan to go back, but it probably won't be until next year. I was going to try to go to Pitt Friday for the free intro but they're calling for rain.
-
Rain came right after I finished my 4th session on the track around 2pm today.
-
I will be praying for him and his family.

I'm headed down there tonight to camp and then ride tomorrow. It will be my 1st track day. Can't wait.

Mike @RidersDiscount hooked me up with a pair of boots that I think will be good and he gave them to me at an amazing price. Somebody posted on the forum that if you don't check with Mike you're throwing your money away. I have found that to be true. Riders Discount has unbeatable prices. Thanks Mike.
-
I'm too cheap to buy those. Maybe if I come down with the track addiction you have I'll spring for more expensive boots. Btw you told me to let you know when I was going to Mid O. I signed up for this coming Tuesday.
-
Looking for a pair of boots that would be good for track days as well as a 500 mile day on the road. The Joe Rocket ballistic boots I currently have are developing a hole in the sole. I like those boots but think there are probably better options for the track.
-
I agree. I've rode 536 3-4 times. It is definitely twisty and the video does it no justice. I feel like I ride it at a turtle's pace. I struggle to get comfortable on it.
-
B-Mac I have a feeling many would be well below your desired pace.
-
Rode it for 500 miles in 9hrs. Hit 83-377-555-676-26-260-800-148-9-164. Good day. Next order of business is to put Q3s back on and prep for Mid-O next Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait to try out this track thing.

Majestic Trails in Rew, PA is a good time. $20 to ride for a whole day. Mines and Meadows in Wampum, PA I think $25 for the day and your quad has to be registered and insured. Alegheny National Forest in Marienville,Pa I think $10 for day again registered and insured. If you go to Wellsville make sure you are comfortable climbing hills, probably best to go with someone who knows the area. http://www.majestictrails.com/ https://www.minesandmeadows.com/ https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/allegheny/recarea/?recid=6124
