Dan was happy with the second engine. I think for putting around town it would have been fine. There is no way it would have made his trip in one piece. The quality just isn't there. I call these Chinese knockoffs "MSO".

After putting my hands all over Dan's Chinese motorcycle... no thanks. Might as well light the money on fire.

Left the house around noon and home by 5:30. Just a nice, mild cruise to get reacquainted with the Voyager. Amanda made PB&J sammiches and we snacked at a picnic table for lunch. Took 93 from Canal Fulton, 83/78 to Muskie, then 78/821/209 and then County 35 out of Cambridge (which is a lovely road, btw) to 258/36.. amd then set the cruise to 75 and rolled up the interstate to home. I really do enjoy that bike. I am glad we got a quickie in today. I will be in Wisconsin this weekend... in the car. Drag!

I am guessing. I have to vacuum it in the morning.

Wow.. your approach to this entire ordeal is incredibly brave and humble. You have all of my respect (if that means anything?). Attitude and perspective make all the difference. You are one seriously hardcore mother fucker, Chris.

I am not trying to hurt your feelings, but if you had a 2018 BMW R1200GS Adventure (like me..that's what I have. didn't I tell you, already?) you totally could have made that corner. Just sayin'...

Less than half a quart.

I apologize, Jim. Thank you and may I have another?

None. They only had 16k on them. I have pushed belts to 24k miles, before. I just want it done so I can still leave it for sale while I ride it this summer. I was going to have the Duc shop do the service, but this virus has me home for some time. I am not sure I have the same skillset as the dealership, though. I only install one gasket on my drainplug. That must be why they charge $1300 for this service. Extra attention to detail...

I will keep my mouth shut and hope for the best. What channel is everyone watching? I could barely get anything from the last feed with all the lag.

America's response to this has been embarrassing. The President is only now invoking War Powers to mandate production of necessary medical equipment and tests that states have been scrambling to get. I wonder how many more times Fauci can contradict Trump before he is no longer allowed to talk to the rest of us?
-
Hard to know. If we spent as much on medical research as we do spreading the gospel of democracy.. maybe?
-
There would not be similar numbers in all states. The virus is ahead of us and will remain that way until it goes away. Testing is important because it gathers information needed to build datasets. The reason we do not test everyone is because we build more bombers than necessary and not enough medical equipment or infrastructure. We simply do not have the resources to combat this virus. Welcome to The Machine.

Changed the oil in the Voyager. Have to check tire pressure and wipe it down. Put the Hyper on the massage table. This week she gets a well-deserved spa treatment. The BMW is just sitting in the corner... smug as fuck.

Because they have over 15,000 confirmed cases and Ohio has a few hundred. Studies are showing that the best possible way to "contain" the spread is to identify carriers early and isolate them from the public. NY is doing their best to handle the situation. They are a major US import city. A total lockdown of state borders and traffic would put a huge dent in the spread, but that won't happen. It is in our best interest to let NY test as many people as possible, so long as they are making sure those testing positive are adequately quarantined.

I appreciate your post, B. I will let you know my intentions Wesnesday evening. Thank you.

The only bikes I ever had with dipsticks are the Voyager and my 2004 FZ6 and 2008 FZ6. The Voyager is within the safe range on the stick. I doubt I will make any adjustments, but on Jim's advice I will check to be certain.

Everything I read pointed to 5 qts. I let it sit for about 10 minutes before I rechecked it. I had it leveled on the side stand with 2x4s. With 5.5(ish) qts, the oil is about 2/3 up the safety hashes. I wasn't about to add more until I checked it in the am. It may have just under 5.5 qts. I never go by any amount a manual recommends.. even the service manual. I always defer to the dipstick or sight glass. I will report my findings in the morning. Thanks, Jim.

Is it Anakee 3 friendly, though?
-
About 30 seconds. I also ran it for about 5 minutes before I drained both plugs. While it was draining, I rocked the bike back and forth to be sure all of the oil drained before reinstalling both drain plugs. I have a hard time believing I all of a sudden have no idea how to change oil on a motorcycle. I have no problem believing you have done it wrong for 70,000 miles.
-
Yes. Check it balanced on both wheels, screw dipstick all the way, remove and check.
-
The Voyager took 5.5 qts of oil. Seems excessive.
