  1. Trevor and I decided to take the 69 Firebird out to go see a movie at Easton (Collateral, decent flick). Of course to get up to the theater after buying tickets, you have to ride the escalator. One goes up, one goes down. I decide to run up the one that goes down. As I finally get to the top, Trevor and I go to where the person takes your ticket. As you may know, when Easton AMC isn’t busy, they have mentally handicapped people take the tickets. Well, this lady was by far no exception to that rule. She takes Trevor’s ticket first, and tells him where the theater is. Then she takes mine. She starts telling me that I can’t walk up the escalator like that (well, I just assumed that is what she was saying by the urgency in her voice and the word fragment or two I could make out). Now the 3 people sitting in the open booth next to the escalators never said anything to me. I decided then and there that I have to draw the line at being educated on the rules of escalators by a retarded person. She hands me my ticket stub while she was still getting after me……..and we just walked away. She didn’t yell for us to come back or anything like that, so I must not have pissed her off. Cruel, maybe, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Then I got to thinking…..I’ve never had a retarded (mentally handicapped, or whatever PC term you want) person yell at me. I guess interesting things can happen when you see a movie.
  2. Been in your shoes, multiple times. Sadly, it was thousands upon thousands in damage/lost items. I have other methods I've come up with to dispose of a body. And I just don't know if I could stop myself beating someone with a baseball bat if I caught them breaking into my car. I really don't.....they would be paying for what all their previous misfits did. Luckily, I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood, and haven't had any problems in the 2+ years living here (knock on wood).
  3. Let's not forget Rodney Dangerfield, who passed recently as well.
  4. I'm going to bet there was no open casket funeral.
  5. A Trans Am is a Firebird. Trans Am is nothing more than an option package on a Firebird, same as a Formula. Firebird Formula and Firebird Trans Am. That girl = the hotness. Though the boobs might not be perfect, I wouldn't be complaining one bit. Not even on a bad day.
  6. I understand the idea of getting rid of turbos, all of the electronics, etc. in WRC to save on cost. But why such a small displacement limit?? That really isn't saving on the cost, and it's not going to allow the new cars to make nearly the power of the old cars.
  7. Rice is rice. There is a standard by which the general public goes by. It's not hard to drive by a riced out car and tell it is riced out. Kind of like how a cat is a cat, and a dog is a dog....it's not up for interpretation.
  8. How does that not make it rice. Of course rice boys like their rice.....doesn't make it right/tasteful/not ricey. If I somehow came into some money and spent most of it on a bad coke habit, and made the mistake of modding a wrong wheel drive vehicle, I would make DAMN sure my car was as anit-rice as they come. I would be VERY careful how my car looked in every aspect, and make sure the shitty sound comming from the motor would be as quiet as it would get. The exterior mods would be conservative and the car might get noticed, but in a good way. Luckily, I have no plans on pickng up a coke habbit.
  9. To get any power out of the rotary, they would have to go to forced induction. And their luck with forced induction hasn't exactly given the rotary a good name.
  10. You cared to read it, Doug cared to post. That's your problem, not mine.

  12. - Riceboy spoiler (though pretty mild compared to most...borderline acceptable) - Altezza's - Clear insert thing on the back - Chainlink fence inside a slightly ricey front bumper cover Overall, it isn't too bad. Nothing I'd be caught owning....EVER, but I see far FAR FAR worse on a daily basis.
  13. WTF. It has nothing to do with him running 11's or not. I've broken and have been towed home from the track multiple times (blown up clutch, snapped driveshaft, and blown head gasket). What's that have to do with what times my car ran?? I just figured if you are going to mention your outting at the track, mention all of what happened. After my best pass, then next pass that was even better going up to the 1/8 mile I blew a head gasket.....nothing to hide; that's what happened. He should have nothing to hide or to be ashamed of either. Sure seems to be running fine every time I go to drive it. Hell, it has rarely stayed broken, normally it's down time is due to mods and/or small problems that keep me from wanting to drive it (like a cronic oil leak that I've finally resolved). But since you know nothing about it, I'll educate you. The times it has been broken (not in the middle of mods) to where I couldn't drive it if I wanted to: - Distributor - 1 month due to no garage at the time and the middle of winter, so it didn't matter - Driveshaft - 1 week - Head Gasket - 3 weeks, since I pulled the motor to do some other gaskets - Clutch (more than once due to poor aftermarket clutches) - 2 months total, backorder on parts I wanted for other mods I was doing at the time w/ the new clutch That's over 5 years of ownership. Otherwise, it was me not winter driving / not wanting to drive anymore with the oil leak or minor problems (though I did from time to time anyway). But thanks for knowing. Congrats to Mike for having the quickest rotary in the area with probably a lot less money that some of the other hyped up cars. I would definately suggest having a robust driveline setup if you continue to launch w/ that high of an RPM on ET Streets....breaking stuff sucks.
  14. Are you still running that flimsy stock piece? Nate with his 99 T/A didn't even know that when MTI did his exahaust, they completely removed it. When I did his tranny mount and Spohn torque arm, I crawl under there to find in MIA. He drove it for quite a while never knowing it wasn't there. I doubt that factory piece does a whole lot structural wise. You could always buy this, the BMR tunnel brace: http://bmrfabrication.com/misc/tunnel-brace.jpg Or buy a Spohn torque arm w/ the Mufflex Y-pipe option to allow crossmember clearance, like my setup. Otherwise, I'd just go without, as I doubt that sheetmetal is going to be of any benefit.
  15. Hey, you forgot to mention the car broke after that pass.

    New Car: Poll

I 100% disagree. I drove a 2 seater all through HS, and part of college. From there, I went to a Camaro then my Firebird for daily driving for the rest of college, which aren't exactly rear-seat friendly, and ended up removing the rear seats from the Firebird. Seriously, how often do you really use the rear seats?? I drive a 4 door Jimmy for a daily now, simply because I need something to tow my boat. But it ends up becoming the party vehicle, the thing everyone else rides in when we go out (oddly enough, I am normally not the one driving it ). Other than a party vehicle, the rear seats are just wasted space. I would be more than happy to have a 2 seater daily driver again. Unless you have a family to haul around, there isn't a lot of use for it. My roomate drives 180 miles a day for work/school......in a 2-seater CRX. Anthony now drives a MR2 as a daily driver as well. Whenever money allows me to swing it (probably not with my current employment ), I want to buy an early C5 coupe as a non-snow daily driver.
  17. IMO projectors have too limited of a use. They tend to look like total crap (at least every one I've seen so far) when the room has decent light going on. They can look great in a dark room.....but many times I don't want to watch TV in a dark room. And sporting events just seem wrong in a dim/dark room. Unless I had a big house with a large room that could basically be made into a dedicated faux movie theater, I'll never want a projector (and in Bill's case, a projector wouldn't really work well for his living room setup). I am also a believer in the big TV being the main TV. I'd love to have a 16:9 60" DLP as my next TV, but for now my 4:3 50" will have to do, as I sure as hell can't afford one.
  18. I too would be interested in the values of some of my cards; most are mint condition cards from the mid-late 80's.

    New Car: Poll

You haven't looked hard then....it's very easy to find Z06's for under 35k less than 100 miles from here: 33.9k 34.9k 32.5k 30.5k 29.9k 30.9k And that was just a very quick and dirty search. smile.gif
  20. Here is the article off of his webpage:
  21. What was done to make it hook? Years and years of saying one would make it, I guess it finally had to happen.
  22. But that's the same 8 old stuff too. I don't see anything about it on Stern's site yet. Since I have Wed. and Thurs. off every week, I only listen on Mon, Tues, and Fri, and missed today's show. People, if you are that desperate to listen to the same shit over and over, just record a couple CD's of what the Blitz plays and put them on repeat....that's what the Blitz does. What sat. system is Stern going to go with. For those folks relating XM to Clear Channel, Stern clearly stated more than once that XM is no longer associated with Clear Channel (remember, he HATES Clear Channel and is in a lawsuit with them over them not paying out his contract they are legally required to). Which ever service he goes to will definately be an incentive on which one I get around X-mas time, as I have been planning to get a service and no longer deal with the stupid radio anymore.
  23. Rodney was awesome. His movie Back to School alone puts him in the halls of the greats. He called up Howard Stern on Howard's birthday this year; I could tell he wasn't quite what he was 10 years ago. 82 is getting up there though....he will definately be missed.
  24. More than one person here has a Z06, though I've never driven either, has been said to out-perform the NSX on road courses. The biggest rip going right now is the NSX. It's basically the same car they started selling back in 1991, with a couple minor body/interior updates and a few more ponies under the hood. Oh...and an even higher price, now selling for a insane $89,000. Wow.
