  1. A 406 w/ your stock LS1 heads and an LS6 cam != 500RWHP, or anywhere near it. Big, fat torque curve for sure, but not hitting the 500RWHP mark. That's all in the heads/cam. I think you are also underestimating some other items. That 300HP direct port kit is gonna rack you at least 2 grand (you'll either need to have a great fuel system or a stand alone for the nitrous side). That tranny + everything to convert it isn't going to be cheap. Ask Jason Fetter, it's not a budget as you might think, since you don't want to just toss a stock TH400 in there and hope for the best. You are severly over-simplfying things.....if low 9's @ 150 were that simple, every Tom, Dick, and Henry would have a 9 second LS1. IMO, work with what you have, and grow from there. Why not build a bottom end and run more boost?? I'm personally not a big fan of the iron block conversion (IMO it's a step backwards), but is more budget oriented...though you could just run a stroker crank on your aluminum block and not re-sleeve; you just don't have to go insane w/ the cubes).

  3. I've even done more than drive it out of the garage. Took it to lunch last week w/ my roomate to meet a couple friends of ours. Nick saw...and more so heard....me drive by on I70 while he was working. T-tops out, music on, fully insured, current tags....I thinks that qualifies as driveable.
  4. You car looks better. IMHO a stock 240 looks better than that example. I'd pass.
  5. What he was saying makes sense. He was refering to the money into Kyles car, saying if you do that as well, you will hit 12.20's. At least that is what I was deciphering from it.
  6. +1. I gotta admit I liked the look of the previous black one better. I found it unfortunate you sold the black one off, as most Fox Body's don't do a thing for me looks-wise, but the black one did.
  7. As much as I may JOKE (clearly) about violence toward women, anything real like that is very f'ing wrong.
  8. The belt isn't hard (other than the retard design of having to use vice grips to move the tensioner to remove the belt). It's the tensioner itself; it is one big unit, that by the time you have it removed, the only thing let is the timing belt. The bolts holding it are only accessible after removing a couple motor mounts and letting the motor all the way down, then jacking it up to the cowl. Nice. And my g/f's car doesn't get stellar gas mileage and is slow as dog shit (sorry, it's the truth). Nice try, but I can go out and drive it right now. Starts right up, no problem. Just doesn't have a full exhaust on it (got the parts, haven't put it together), and the mysterious oil leak that I haven't fully tracked down yet. Running wise, she is doing great.
  9. **Adds up the HP between the two rides in your signature** Yup, you might have as much as my daily driver combined.
  10. I read a 2 page write up on the LS2 recently in Fastest Street Car magazine, going over some stuff GM engineers were saying about the LS2 vs. LS6. Basically, that dyno sheet is pretty worthless IMO. As I said before, the LS6 has been proven to make more power than what that sheet has said. How do they compare the LS2 to the LS6? LS2 has: - More displacment (365ci vs. 346) - Same redline - Higher compression - Higher flowing heads and intake - 90mm throttle body vs. LS6 75mm. - Better flowing exhaust - No AIR system (nice, one less thing to remove) - More efficent piston rings/ring land design for less parasitic loss Cam specs weren't given, but a .525 lift and probably similar to the LS6. Rockers weren't mentioned, but probably the same non-roller tip roller rockers. Bigger injectors as well. The LS2's block is also stronger, w/ thicker cylinder walls (very good news for people not wanting to re-sleeve their blocks), and is lighter. But my point is that looking at all of these improvements, I question how this motor is going to make less peak power than the LS6. It would only make logical sense that it will make more power everywhere, including PEAK power, than the LS6. Just because they don't rate it that way doesn't mean that's how things will turn out. Let's face it, when 305HP flywheel rated LS1's are putting down 315RWHP bone stock, the whole rating thing kinda goes out the window.

    eyelines

They make eyeliner in carbon fiber, weird. But do you really need a clue for it?? Oh, are you talking about one of those rice mods?? Ahhh, I can't help you there.
  12. My g/f is a bad actress, and doesn't lie well. Don't confuse my woman with whatever you take home. Nice car choice....[/QB] No, it's really not. I've worked on that horriably designed car enough that she will never own another one....ever. What it took to just replace an accessory belt tensioner was beyond stupid (and they fact they have 8 different freaking designs for it, for the same damn motor, because some engineer can't make up his freaking mind as to which one isn't a POS).
  13. Guess I'll be careful since I'll be driving by there in a little bit.
  14. Hey, maybe she was trying to think of a word better than thank-you??!! Guess I'll find out in about an hour...........
  15. Hey woman, get off the damn computer and knit me a sweater.

    cams

You can't bore it out to a 350. You'd be insane to start spending money on machine work vs. just buying a 350. 350's are a dime a dozen and can be had CHEAP. Remember, a 350 is THE cheapest motor out there to build up.
  17. Don't forget these flywheel numbers you are giving are calculated based on an estimated driveline loss. So you really should get an estimated flywheel number, not EXACT. Regardless, the LS6 w/ estimated driveline loss also comes in at above 405HP at the flywheel. That's the point I'm making....the LS2 from everything being said about it, should as well, and perhaps more-so.
  18. I'll take real-world dyno results over GM advertising....which we will have to wait for. It's been a proven fact the LS6 is underated, yet that dyno sheet shows exactly 405HP, so I don't see how that can be considered accurate at all. Alright, we all know the Cobra is underated at 390 flywheel HP, but please show me any bone STOCK 03-04 Cobra putting down 400HP to the wheels (other than a doctored-up dyno, that reads high for everyone). ANY. I'm not asking you to find any LS6 doing it, because there aren't any of those either.

    me

Yes, they should stop too. That doesn't mean you shouldn't. Honestly, you are coming off as white-trash.....sadly, a 3rd Gen owner stereotype. My roomate also enjoys ICP, has been to more concerts than I can count, and took me to one as well (it was interesting, but not my thing). He would definately be considered a big fan, but I've never seen him going around calling himself a Juggalo and acting like you are....EVER (unless he were to read this and do it just to piss me off ). You must understand you sound like a freaking retard. Now don't give me that crybaby shit about "jocks picking on me" and that other BS. BTW, I was never a jock/other group you would describe that "brings you down," before you try that comeback.
  20. Wish I had seen this sooner, but I'll pay $40, cash in hand, can buy TOMORROW (aka Thursday). Maybe the extra $$ will entice you.
  21. #1: I don't go down below in the front seat of a car. At 6'3", the mere physics of doing so don't work out well in my favor. #2: I work on Saturday afternoons, so I'm doing no carpet munching on my g/f during that time. #3: I've never heard those kinds of complaints.....ever. Actually, my g/f wants bedroom activites on a very regular basis; I must be doing something right. But nice lame attempt at flaming me anyway.

    cams

Here is some good advice: saving a few bucks on a cam that probably isn't the best choice for that motor is just plain.....stupid. Think about these several things: - Your valve springs are probably pretty old, good chance they are the originals. Even if the lift on the new cam is within specs of those springs, that doesn't mean much on a worn out set of valve springs. So you'll have to replace those. - Gaskets; you'll need new intake manifold gaskets, new front cover gasket, new water pump gaskets....don't forget those. But more importantly, you'll need a new timing set, as your old one is probably shot to shit. Oil and coolant too, of course. - Lifters: I'm positive you have hydro lifters, but probably aren't rollers. I've only personally worked w/ rollers, but I believe you aren't supposed to/probably shouldn't run used flat tappet lifters on a different cam, as they "wear-in" to the cam they are originally installed on. Add that to the cost. - Any cam worth the labor of installing (aka one that makes any sort of real gain) is going to require reprogramming. You might get away with not doing it, but you'll be doing nothing but leaving power on the table/less driveability/worse gas mileage. My point?? The few bucks you save on getting a used cam that probably isn't the best choice for your motor really isn't saving much at all, since there will be a number of other associated costs (and I was excluding you finding other problems, like bent pushrods and the like). Then I've left out the biggest part of all.....you are modding a 305. You'd be far better off saving money up and droping a number of different motors into that car (SBC, BBC, LT1, LS1, etc.). The "being different" thing w/ the 305 has been done again and again.....and there are too many modded 305's getting beaten by far less modded other motors of the same vintage.
  23. I saw it w/ my g/f tonight....good flick. I watched it after reading all of these "reviews." I knew it wasn't scary, and wasn't expecting it to be a horror movie (though I've never considered any of M. Night's movies to be horror flicks, including Signs which I watched again earlier today). I kind of put out of my mind the comments about the predictable ending before I entered the theater. I was just enjoying the film and not thinking much. I knew something was up for most of the movie, but didn't realize the key plot point until later than most.....I guess I was just expecting something different. But I liked how it went, and enjoyed M. Night's cameo apperance, as he does in all of his movies. smile.gif
  24. WOW, way to post bad advice. Unless you like paying 3x the price for the same damn product, w/ limited software support. I'll pass (and yes I've used your precious Macs....all the more reason I'll never own one). If you are missing a system file, then obviously something deleted it (you, another program, a virus, etc.). This could happen on most any OS...how it happens is another story.
  25. Though that OPTIONAL color scheme may not be your taste, I sure hope you don't actually think your Cobra's interior is anywhere close to as nice as the GTO's. If the rumors are true, the LS2 is said to make more power over a broader powerband than the LS6. On average, the LS6 only gives up a couple HP on the dyno to the 03-04 Cobra. It would probably be safe to say the LS2 is on par RWHP wise, if not more, than your Cobra stock. We won't compare factory ratings, as it is common knowledge your Cobra's motor, LS1, and LS6 are all underated.
