Museum of science and industry is a must see. Took the kids to Chicago last 2 years and did the city pass the first year. That was easily everyone's favorite so we did it again last year. Do the sub tour there...it's worth it. Hancock building to me is better than the Willis tower...lines are not as bad and there's a bar at the top. We go up late afternoon to watch the sunset and drink some beers. Go early or you won't make it up in time for sunset. We've hit all the usual places to eat. Ditkas probably ends up being everyone's favorite every year. Just a steak house basically but it's good.

Still shopping for him a replacement car. He found a 13 dart that he likes alot. Has a 2L and Hyundai trans. Seems the 13 in particular is hit or miss but the 2L is better than the 1.4. Haven't made a decision on it yet but thinking about it.
-
I've had several rwd cars. 75 Cutlass, 79 trans am, and an 04 gto. Drove all of those through the winter with not a ton of problems. Trans am was by far the worst. That said for a 16 year old a fwd is the better choice I think. Want to give him every advantage of I can.
-
That trans is what worries me the most on that truck. The engine doesn't scare me near as much although at that mileage maintenance and care plays a big part. A few things I saw on the truck led me to believe whoever owned it before either had no mechanical aptitude or was just lazy. Both switch panels on the doors had been removed....most likely wrong breaking the clips and they used small screws and silicone to remount them. Haha
-
Yeah...we're off those altogether and at the time my wife hadn't put the foot down on the rwd yet. What's wrong with those? The stuff I've read made them not sound too bad but I'm all about hearing as many opinions as possible.

My wife doesn't want him to have a rwd car with winter and all. I get it I guess even though I drove rwd cars for years in the winter. They do suck in the snow compared to fwd but doable. Looked at a Hyundai Veloster today which checked most of the boxes. That particular car wasn't the one but gives us another model to keep our eyes out for. Also looked at an 02 ram 4x4 because he kinda wants a truck but it had 144k on it which is getting up there for a Dodge transmission. Search continues. We'll find something and we're going to be patient and find the right vehicle. It'll come along.

Going to have to switch gears a bit.....went and looked at that Tiburon today. I'm 6' and even my head touched the roof in it with the seat all the way down....he's 3" taller than I am. There's a 2 door Altima with the 2.5 in it we're going to look at next. Edit: nevermind....cvt transmission.

Clean Carfax 1 owner and looks like most of not all service was done at the dealer. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=529674128&zip=43130&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43130%26listingTypes%3DUSED%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26maxPrice%3D6000%26vehicleStyleCodes%3DCOUPE%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D25%26marketExtension%3Don%26searchRadius%3D100&listingTypes=USED&numRecords=25&maxPrice=6000&vehicleStyleCodes=COUPE&firstRecord=25&searchRadius=100&makeCode1=HYUND&modelCode1=TIBURO&clickType=listing

What about an 08Tiburon? Any known issues with those? My wife has a 17 sonata and loves it. Only Hyundai we've ever had though.
-
A 350Z would be a nice car for him but unfortunately a little out of the budget for him from what I've seen to get one with decent miles and in decent shape.
-
Glad I asked the question because I like the looks of them so I wasn't against him getting one at all. We'll switch gears a bit. My vote was for a grand prix gxp because I'm so familiar with the motor. He's not a fan of a 4 door though and I get that. I bet if I got him to test drive one though I could change his mind. The car he hit the deer with was a G6 GT and he liked that car. He was looking at the gxp version but it has the 3.6 in it so pretty much off the table.
-
Wow.....I had no idea. Ok then...we'll forget about those. The rx8's are pretty sharp looking cars too....shame. Thanks for the heads up.
-
My son hit a deer and totalled his car last week. Now in the process of looking for another one. There's a Mazda rx8 he wants to look at. I know less than nothing about rotary engines. Pros and cons to them and any advice welcomed and appreciated.

Maybe they'll also take the gas hike away that was attached to that bill.

You mean they can't handle the weather, their commute, their cell phone, their coffee, their egg sandwich, and their radio at the same time.

I have a pixel 2xl that I love. Best phone I've ever had. We got my daughter a pixel 3 a few months ago. Unfortunately no headphone jack or card slot so doesn't meet all of your criteria.

Camo stuff just lost me when pants started to cost $60 and coats were $150. I can stay warm and get the job done much cheaper. I will say the high dollar stuff is usually pretty nice so it's not like you're wasting money. I just personally can't justify it for myself.
-
Thanks for the info. My wife found an 08 Malibu LTZ for my son and while it's a super nice car I knew I had heard about the 3.6 not being a very good engine so wanted to do my homework before taking the hard pass on it.
-
I've heard they're piles. I've read about timing chain issues with them. Is that all years and is there other issues with them? Not that the chain problem isn't enough to keep me from buying one. Just curious what other problems they might have
-
I got out of the camo game years ago....as soon as they started putting the premium price tag on whatever newest pattern was out. Gucciflage is what I call it. I go with browns, greens, and blacks and manage to kill shit every year. I have brown uninsulated bibs I bought at like Ollie's or somewhere for cheap. About the same color as ripe corn or fall foliage.

Thought maybe someone here could use this. My neighbor is selling his portable lift. It's the harbor freight 6k pound lift https://www.harborfreight.com/6000-lb-capacity-scissor-lift-91315.html https://i.imgur.com/A0cH5Yn.jpg Note that it's a 220v motor. Here's a pic....I have more if anyone wants them. He only used it a few times then built a pole barn and put a 2 post in there. He's asking $1000. Can text him at 567-204-2047 his name is Shawn.

Man...I was just out in Avondale last weekend for my daughter's softball tournament and we had like 3 hours to kill between games. I was going to call you and look in my phone and at some point I've lost your number.

What are you guys into? My brother did his wedding in Vegas which we all went to. I'm not much into gambling really but had fun. The best part for me by far was me and the wife staying after everyone came home and heading up into Utah in a rental car. We stayed at some cool little out of the way towns and hiked some parks. I enjoyed that quite a bit. If music and drinking is your thing Nashville is on my list of things I want to do at some point. I've had 2 buddies do that and talked about how awesome it was. Edit: not really sure that's honeymoon material stuff but what the hell do I know...I'm damn near 50 and been married 20 years haha. We did Cancun on our honeymoon.

Travel to Lancaster? Ask has a metric shit ton of big pallets out front. I've got a few loads there. Need a trailer or cut them up on the spot....too big for the bed of a truck.

Seems very sensible
