  1. I have been MIA too, I'll try to get on.
  2. What do you mean by 'comsumer lens'. Not really looking to buy now just paranoid. I was reading that the fungus can eventually etch the glass.
  3. So browsing craigslist there seem to be a lot of lenses for sale with 'fungus'. I don't think I have to worry about it with my camera since its new but I'd like to keep it from being an issue but I tend to be pretty paranoid about my nice things and keeping them nice. - How often is this lens fungus an issue? Is it really just people that are shooting in the rain or in humid environments? - Should I be paranoid or this a pretty rare thing and the ads I see are just people selling the crap lenses because they keep their nice ones? lol
  4. I'll still rather drive the C6Z. Impressive none the less.
  5. Buddy of mine just had his first baby girl and I have coined the term 'bruncle' with that said I offered to try my hand at some pictures for them. This is really my first shoot with the new camera and they aren't extremely picky on their pics so it was a great opportunity. The new laptop is an i5 with 6 gb ram and it runs photoshop elements 9 like a champ! For this shoot I think I got a little overwhelmed with post processing. I didn't have a proper backdrop so I used a black comforter and figured i'd just edit out the background with flat black or some background image. Well first off I hate portrait backgrounds, like the stuff you see at walmart. Its hard not to make it look cheesy. Then with the black its ok but I think next time I will be more careful with the background. Also, I didn't have any auxiliary lighting, luckily they have a sunroom so we did the pictures in there. I haven't posted all the pictures, just my favs. there is another one I liked where the baby was nekkid and laying on dad's arm. I photoshopped everything out but the baby and the arm and it looks great, just not sure if they want their nekkid baby on the interweb. I just noticed a boo boo, in the pic with the helmet I forgot to crop out the carpet/backdrop near the crotch, oh well. I liked the idea since he loves his motorcycle and it was a fun way to incorporate his hobby with his new baby. Plus I'm sure it'll be a good story later 'you used to fit in my helmet!' Just ordered a new lens, a 35mm prime lens with a f1.8 aperture, very amped for shallow depth of field and low light pics! Also I have a few pics from a recent vacation I'll add later. input welcome. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Kenli%20newborn/th_250355_10100871422883475_12412145_65671334_468103_n.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Kenli%20newborn/th_250203_10100871422264715_12412145_65671322_2579387_n.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Kenli%20newborn/th_225664_10100855076995765_12412145_65380767_4970290_n.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Kenli%20newborn/th_223653_10100871423038165_12412145_65671337_3410914_n.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Kenli%20newborn/th_284669_10100871422638965_12412145_65671330_2543267_n.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Kenli%20newborn/th_284379_10100873200361395_12412145_65692785_983491_n.jpg
  6. not sure if this helps you but my swap in the RX was ~ $6.5k including the engine.
  7. the 5.3 swap is getting more common in the RX-7s because of the price. Also I think they have a bit lower compression which lends to boost. The drawback being weight, but since your car had an iron block in it already I don't see a problem. I've heard 5.3's going for $500-$1000 at junk yards.
  8. not trying to be mean here but have you checked LS1tech.com for the cost of swapping an ls1 into an lt1 car? I'm sure its been asked. With that said if you are worried about cost...why not go with the iron block 5.3, you can get those dirt cheap.
  9. I think I might pick this one up. Not looking to break the bank.... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor+/+15.6%22+Display+/+6GB+Memory+/+640GB+Hard+Drive+-+Lake+Blue/2712418.p?skuId=2712418&productCategoryId=pcmcat138500050001&id=1218346634378 I really like laptops. getting one that will take 12 gb of ram is big bux.
  10. So much fail. Just checked my computer and its 1.4 ghz 1gb ram. Max I can upgrade this to is 2gb ram total. is it worth it or just buy a new computer?
  11. What did you pay, if you don't mind me asking? laptop or desktop?
  12. Elements 9 I might take you up on that. Yeah I am in Indy (southside). I also recall you posting in a thread with pics of my car saying you'd be willing to do a free shoot with the car. So if you are ever over here with enough time i might take you up on that Maybe i'm just getting needy. lol So I am guessing if I am going to go with 12gb of ram a laptop isn't really an option...
  13. So I've been toying with Photoshop Elements and damn this thing is slow. Not sure if its the laptop or not. I have a Sony Viao with dual core an 4gb ram or maybe its just the program? Been eyeballing a new laptop to have dedicated to digital photography and keep all the crap programs off it. What is a good laptop these days? Looks like its between an i5 or i7 processor (is the i7 really worth it?) is 6gb ram good enough or should I be looking at 8?

    Scion FT-86

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/10/report-ft-86-to-be-badged-as-scion-arrive-with-higher-than-exp/ RWD, looks pretty nice too. Came across this from a friend. Anyone know anything else about the engine?
  15. As he said, thats a pretty basic approach. Its been forever since I did all that but depending on what axis you need the CG on, you could try to use a jack and balance the trailer on it. If you were able to balance it you found the CG horizontally.
  16. nice. My friend had a kid this week so i'll be doing this next week. Any tips?
  17. or people lose their jobs and say 'see now the unemployed numbers are up'. ugh.
  18. Dang thats not bad.
  19. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/ Well I guess thats my first lesson. I always just assumed depth of field gets bigger the higher the aperture. So In my quest on super mega crisp pics I was shooting in with the higher aperture, erroneously. I also had it on aperture priority, which adjusts everything (ISO etc to a manageable shutter speed) I really wanted to shoot with 100 ISO since I had the tripod. I think thats a start. Oh well live and learn, too bad because I really liked those damn pics.
  20. Just got back from a 5 day vacation/camping trip to Ludington, Michigan. This place is gorgeous and is just as good as going to the beach only without the drive, the crowds, and the salt water. Also, you get to view a sunset on the water without having to go all the way out west. Here are a few pics. Comments are welcome (pics are numbered so you can refer to the number). For some reason I just CANNOT get a clear crisp picture with this camera. Most of these pictures I had forgotten to turn off my VR on the lens which I hear can lead to some blur. Most all of these I've had to sharpen. Not sure what the deal is. Also, I am a total noob at post processing so I still have a lot of room for improvement there. 1 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/DSC_0148.jpg 2 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0230.jpg 3 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0226.jpg 4 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0211.jpg 5 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0207.jpg 6 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0205.jpg 7 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0167_01.jpg 8 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0153.jpg 9 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0145.jpg 10 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0141.jpg 11 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0111.jpg 12 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0071.jpg 13 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0069.jpg 14 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0049.jpg 15 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Vacations/Ludington%20MI%202011/th_DSC_0011.jpg
  21. Must be nice. I was out 3G's for the test and the machine. But it was worth it.
  22. DANG. I would think the mask would lift off your face before popping lungs!! did he die? Sounds serious.
  23. Nikon D3100 I had a canon point and shoot and they had really crappy customer service which left a bitter taste behind. So I boycot them.
  24. Just found this thread. I resent that comment. Not sure if you are joking or not. Paul doesn't seem like the person that would start saying things like that, oh well. I sold the ski. I sold what I knew to be a great running ski. It was tested for about 15 minutes out on the water a few months ago, no issues. Ran it a few times on the hose this year. Hell when Paul bought it we met at a lake and I backed the ski up into the water and ran it until he said 'thats good enough'. I've been trying to help Paul with research on the ski and sent him the electronic service manual for the GP1200, sounds like these electrical things go out with no warning and there is no way that I sold this ski to Paul knowing that it was going to break. Everything I've read says CDI box or stator. I guess we'll see.
