  1. All the stuff I have (admittedly old junk) either isn't worth anything, or isn't worth what it costs to ship it to them. You could stand to make a lot more $$$ on Ebay if you can put a little time into it.
  2. If you are into them fancy book-lernin jokes, there are a plethora scattered on the Wikipedia homepage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
  3. I LOLed. But don't they usually have smartass, often derisive product descriptions on there? Yesterday they spent like 4 paragraphs lamenting a $9 mp3 player and finished with the line "buy one for your kid, to teach them the lesson that life craps on everybody eventually"
  4. The trick I always use is to get a tire iron, long ratchet, etc that can go on a tire lug. Get on the passenger side of the car (unless you're backing it in) and grab a lug and pull! I have moved my worthless pile of 3000GT in and out of the garage many times by myself using this method.
  5. Not that he sounds like the kind of guy who would do the smart thing and play the legal card, but there are implied obligations whenever you take money to allow someone to reside in a place you are responsible for. Not having any paperwork is worse, all he needs is an atm withdrawal slip and he could insist he paid you rent with it. The fact that he is cozy in your house doesn't help much in that argument. That being said, personally I would just lay it down that you can't afford to have him around if he's not paying rent, and he had best make haste in moving out. If he tries to drag his feet, give him a hard deadline, like 2 weeks, and remind him every day about it. The 400 dollars is a trivial sum, if you don't think he's good for it just forget about it and get rid of him.
  6. Portion size is a strictly *American* specialty.
  7. I have been there several times, it's a good place for pizza. A little on the pricey side unless you have good taste. I don't mean that to insult anyone, if Donato's does it for you then thats fine, but if you enjoy good salads and pizza this is a great place to have dinner.
  8. And just who are 'they'? You guys are completely delusional if you think that companies scattered all over the world all conspire just to get a few extra dollars out of you from selling their oil. You can play armchair analyst all you want but the bottom line is that Oil companies sell at the MARKET PRICE. Repeat after me, class. MARKET PRICE. It's a limited resource, if not enough people are willing to pay it, the price goes down, and if too many people are willing to pay it, the price goes up. Right now, too many people are willing to pay for it, and guess what, the price goes up accordingly. Please please PLEASE remember what your economics teacher taught you on the first day of class, before you run your fingers off complaining about nonsense.
  9. Super Hal: I LOLed. Everyone else: Oil price is driven by supply and demand. /thread
  10. I heard DST was a lobbyist scam to get more people to shop during the summer. How do I blame this on the President? Personally I like riding the bike to work in the summer, something that's harder to do when sunrise is an hour delayed. Lifetime goal: Move to AZ where it doesn't matter (and neither does winter.)
  11. Cheap, safe, close to downtown. Pick two, and welcome to the real world. Grandview isn't bad but you don't get much for what you pay for compared to places a little farther out like Bethel Rd. As long as you don't have to street park, your car will be fine.
  12. I would certainly trade a job with certain benefits and drawbacks for a different job, with different benefits and drawbacks. Thanks for asking! Sorry for the lip, it's early. If you ask me, go where you have upward mobility and where you actually enjoy and are proud of the work you do. Forget about the pay, convenience, or 'friendliness' because those things come and go on a regular basis.
  13. Reports say 30% more HP/TQ, which while still not a lot, is nothing to scoff at. Anyway, that wasn't the point of my statement. When the new bike is released, with the new body style and new motor, no one will want the old ones anymore. Demand goes down, price goes down. Wait for it, then hit the used market and pick up a really nice starter bike for cheap!
  14. State Farm's TurboTax hookup: Free web based deluxe version software including e-file, available to any State Farm customer via their web site. I got my Federal and State returns entered, filed, and done with in about half an hour, 100% free. What could be better?
  15. Is that why we (on the TV show) would always see like 900 wheels sitting outside his shop, in the rain? I always wondered about that, like how many wheels could he really go through in a year to make it worth having that many. Ah well, RIP Boyd. BTW, a big belly on an otherwise skinny body is typical of "Metabolic Syndrome" which, while it doesn't look all that unhealthy, is one of the worst conditions to have for long term health. It is commonly found alongside diabetes, heart disease, etc.
  16. Wait a few months for the new Ninja 250 (major body style and performance update) to make the old Ninja 250's (2007 or older) worth jack and two cents. Pick up a used one for her since it's low to the ground and has next to no power. You can't beat it for reliability and economy.
  17. Heh heh. Do do. Seriously though, there is a lot of value in entry-level cameras either with Canon or Nikon. Start reading reviews and consider what's important to you. The only universal truth in the DSLR world is that *it doesn't pay to skimp on lenses*. Plan on spending at least as much on good lenses as you do on the body, to start out. After that, you may find yourself spending much more depending on what's important to you. At the moment Canon is going through product releases, so in the next few months the 30D and the Rebel XTi, which are both very very nice cameras, will be coming down in price. They are being replaced by the 40D and XSi, respectively.
  18. A piece of tape and a post-it! I hope you don't work with hazardous equipment on a regular basis... If it ain't locked out, there's no way I'm sticking my hand in *anything*.
  19. What doesn't make sense is why someone would have wired up the fan to the wall switch when it wasn't destined to be a switch operated fan.
  20. Sorry, makes no sense. Why didn't you just wire the fan so that all incoming power is live regardless of the switches? In any case, at this point just wire nut the lines going in/out of the switches and tuck them away, then apply a blank plate.

    dog woes

If given a choice, my dog would continuously eat his own poop until he died of malnutrition. Modern, domesticated dogs are *nothing* like wild animals capable of making it on their own. Observing a dog's bad eating habits for about 1 hour bears this out quite clearly.
  22. 8 Cores are for Mac artsy fartsy hippies. Quad-Quad core is here, 16 cores is the new minimum for relevance. This is why my new workstation is a Dell Poweredge R900. /thread

    New Job

I am sure the evidence coming from someone who would no doubt be under a very thorough NDA if they were remotely accessible to financial info like that is going to be impeccable. Hang on a sec, my sarcasm meter fell off my desk.

    New Job

These walls have ears n shit, yo.
  25. Its funny that Fedex has such a bad rap, I honestly prefer them greatly to UPS. It goes like this: A box comes my way. I'm not home when the truck comes (Im never home, they really should know that by now.) So it bops back to the warehouse that night. Now with fedex, I take the tag over to International Drive, go into the nice lobby, hand the lady my ticket, and get my box within 5 minutes. With UPS on the other hand, I have to call an hour ahead of time, wait til at least 8 PM, go over to Trabue rd and try to find a parking space (good luck) either at their front office or their rear security booth (they decide at random), wait in line for 15 minutes, then stand around for 15 minutes while the box is 'tracked down', then another 10 for the guy to figure out the computer and scan it in, and then I get to haul it all the way back to my car. What would you choose?
