  1. If nothing else, you've got a chance of turning it around for a profit. And they are pretty good plinkers. One of my friends brought one of the 9mm versions on a range trip, and it was throwing 2-2.5 inch groups at 100 yards, albeit through a scope. The iron sights were frankly shit...we backed out to 200 yards and were still getting everything inside of 8 inches, pretty impressive for a pistol-caliber shooting plinker ammo.
  2. They aren't an EXACT reproduction...there are some minor differences in things like brace panel shaping and weld/seam locations, which are both improvements on the original design and a way to identify the shell as a repro part. I'm not sure how they go about attaching a new VIN to those Harbinger cars...probably titled as a specialty or kit car.
  3. I saw some of the discussion when that was previewed at SHOT a couple years back...it is designed to be "legal" for use in a particular European trap and skeet shooting organization. They didn't allow auto-loaders or magazine fed actions for a particular class. Apparently, this is a single-shot shotgun under their rules...the second cartridge is loaded by hand into the hopper/feeder tray, which presents it to the open breech by spring pressure rather than by energy from the previous fired cartridge, so it's not an auto-loader (again, under their rules)...and since the tray isn't enclosed, it's not magazine fed. All I can say is somebody really READ that rulebook looking for the loopholes, and I rather think that if Smokey Yunick shot trap he'd own one of these.
  4. And yet, even with just gravity and a flight of stairs, you can get a "Heavy Chevy" Chevelle to go right through drywall. Amazing!
  5. Got a little day trip I'll recommend: Glen Helen Preserve and Clifton Gorge over in Yellow Springs. Go to the Clifton Mill ( http://www.cliftonmill.com/ ) for breakfast and get the Millrace Breakfast...it's two HUGE pancakes, if you finish those you get a third one free. Actually, any of their food is great, but those pancakes are seriously incredible. You almost don't WANT to put syrup on them, that's how good they are. Do the mill tour, it's pretty neat. Head for Glen Helen next and do some hiking: http://antiochcollege.org/glen_helen/home/ Some of the trails are a little tough for small kids, but most are just fine. Go shopping in Yellow Springs...the town is basically one big hippie/new age/country shopping mall, and there are a TON of cool little stores. For books, especially sci-fi and comic/geek stuff, hit Dark Star. Say hi to the cat if he's around. Yellow Springs has a TON of good restaurants for lunch or dinner. I've yet to try them all, so I can't really recommend in honesty, but if you feel like pizza, Ha Ha Pizza makes a good pie. http://www.yelp.com/biz/ha-ha-pizza-yellow-springs-2 Any trip to the area MUST end with a stop at Young's Jersey Dairy http://youngsdairy.com/ afterwards...their food is honestly so-so, but they have the BEST ice cream in the nation. Period. Full Stop. End of Line. There are those who will mention Graeters or Jeni's, and those are VERY GOOD, but anyone who doesn't agree that Young's is the best simply is not in their right mind, and is to be treated with pity and mercy, rather than possibly justifiable scorn and derision...
  6. Walmart has them for $2.97 per five foot-long sections. Betcha can find them cheaper online in bulk. http://www.diecastaudio.com/2007/12/01/worlds-longest-hot-wheels-track/ Great googly-moogly....
  7. Shit no...the whole damn thing has maybe three years before it collapses along tribal and religious lines, then a newly resurgent al-Quaida will mop up the bits left afterwards. The fuckers don't even have to do anything but wait for the infighting and corruption to do their work for them.
  8. No help, but just have to say that thing is COOL! What is he planning for a powerplant?
  9. No surprise the car is fast...I'd be wanting out of anything painted that color inside ASAP too.
  10. Surprise surprise. Three weeks ago they told me I needed new inner and outer tie rod ends. I'd brought the car in for an alignment after replacing guess what? They took a vehicle with one side slightly negative camber and both a little toed in, and gave it back with MORE negative camber, plus some positive on the other side, AND a steering wheel 15-20* off center and covered in gunk.
  11. Sounds like it's not balanced either...that'll kill the bearings on most drills fairly quickly.
  12. Y'know what? I don't even know why I was worried about the bridge being out...odds are pretty damn good there will be AT LEAST one guy there who owns one of these:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2e/M60A1_Armored_Vehicle_Landing_Bridge.jpg/800px-M60A1_Armored_Vehicle_Landing_Bridge.jpg
  13. Have they got a new bridge up already? Damn, that was quick if they did.
  14. http://www.kalinkaoptics.com should have the eye piece.
  15. My parents have a picture of my cars and trucks collection from when I was a kid...I lined them up from one end of the house to the other. Then back. And then back again. 160-somethingish linear feet of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and some ancient Buddy L... Damn I wish I still had all of those. I've got a bunch now, and they're cool and all, but the ones I had then were AWESOME, even if they were minus wheels and most of the paint, and some were pretty thoroughly crushed. Hot Wheels are just cooler when you're five, all there is to it.
  16. Increased tech standards = one more guy to do inspections and a bit thicker rulebook, $150 a night. Updated track = start at a couple hundred thousand.... All money. There was a track down south that installed Jersey barriers instead of concrete walls...first time somebody went into the wall, they went up it and rolled. It was a simple 45-50mph fender cruncher, but those damn things will launch a car.
  17. 11 man blitz? Jesus, that'd fluster just about anybody. RISKY move though.
  18. Take 'em to Laughing Ogre and they can appraise them...there is a fee, but they'll give you an honest valuation and make a fair offer if you want to sell.
  19. Okay, hella points for the driving skill...but what kind of idiot thought reversing the track would be smart?
  20. Dodge experimented with a cast aluminum header for the Hemi back in the 60s...it was light, something like a 12-14 lbs advantage, and sealed well without cracking. The problem was that full throttle for more than 10 seconds or so would result in holes melting through the first 4-6 inches of the primary tubes. There is a picture of the aftermath of a test run with a Super Stock car, with little globs of melted aluminum scattered all over the inner fenders.
  21. Man, there are all KINDS of things on that car that would never pass tech in the States.
  22. Glad everyone is okay. Too fucking close. You need to get that story and the pics out...send them to http://www.ehowa.com, the owner is part of the team that runs Let's Bring 'Em Home, they supply troops who can't afford it with free airline tickets for the holidays.
  23. Looks like the RX-7 was about to go into the left lane anyways, when the Cosmo hit him...that RX-7 is in a LOT of Puerto Rican racing vids, and it's usually out of control.
